Fishing in the Dark

Fishing in the Dark

You and me going fishing in the dark
Lying on our backs and counting the stars
Where the cool grass grows
Down by the river in the full moon light
We’ll be fallin’ in love in the middle of the night
Just movin’ slow

~Nitty Gritty Dirt Band~

When I was young, fishing was a big part of life! I spent all week waiting for Sunday, which was the one day Mum and Dad would take us to the river to fish! It was always so peaceful, the sun barely risen, the air crisp and fresh, and the soft sounds of the hook plunking into the water, followed by the soft buzz of the reel bringing it back in. We caught many fish back then, we’d keep enough for our dinner, then start releasing them back into the water. As I got older, the fish became scarcer in our favourite spots, so that by the time I was in my mid teens there wasn’t much of a chance of even having one follow the hook up to the shore. We eventually stopped going, the farm land along the river had encroached in on it and that made it harder to get right down to the water. And during the dry years of the 80’s the water was so low we could almost walk across the whole river. I’ve done a bit of fishing since then, mostly at a lake from a boat, it’s nice but not the same as when I was younger. The one thing that has changed is I don’t want to eat the fish anymore, I love fishing and still hope to catch one…..but now I gently take it off the barbless hook and release it back to the wild. I will always fondly remember those days, I close my eyes, think back, and I can feel the soft breeze and the warm sun on my face, I see a much younger Mum and Dad walking along the shore ahead of me, and as I swing my fishing rod back to cast again, the hook grabs onto a branch behind me…….I turn around and begin tugging, I struggle for some time, then yell……’DAD!’.

When I first started in Second Life I was introduced to the Sn@tch fishing outfit! Anything that involved fishing had to be good, right? So I got the 7 Seas fishing rod and settled in at the pool at the Sn@tch store. The Sn@tch fishing outfit was heaven for a noob such as me, it was cheap, fun, and it was a chance to meet others. I eventually found out the the fishing outfit is changed every second Wednesday and on the day it’s new the sim is almost full with all the ladies fishing their hearts out! This past Wednesday the ‘I Want Candy’ fishing outfit was released and it’s just loaded with lots of good stuff! I’m wearing the Candy Pouf Dress, peachy which is mesh and comes in a fitmesh version, plus fitted for the Maitreya, TMP, SLink, and Belleza mesh bodies. There’s also five other versions of this dress to fish for. The Combat Boots, Candy Socks, and the Candy Choker are also in the outfit, along with some other goodies!

We’re just a couple days away from the opening of the February round of the Darkness Event and Sinful Curves Skins has a couple exclusive items available. I’m wearing one of the eight options from the Wicked Eyeshadow set. ScS will also have a very nice neck tattoo that’s going to be available there …so mark February 5 on your calendar!

I came across the incredibly voluminous Acadia hair from Truth Hair, tucked in my inventory!!

As always, I’m wearing the Alex mesh head from Logo with the Alexa skin in honey tone from Sinful Curves Skins, the Maitreya, Lara mesh body, and the casual hands from SLink.

My poses are from Vestige, but no longer available.

I took a walk in dark sim of After the Fall for these shots.
