Well, it’s day four of our trip and this morning started off uneventful! But, that soon changed when we went to load up the car and found it with a flat tire! A flat tire doesn’t bother me in the least, I’ve changed a few in the past and I’m actually almost as fast as a Nascar pit crew! Once I got that done and got cleaned up we were on our way! We’ll have to find a place to fix the spare, now that it’s a flat spare, but that’s not a big deal! So, we got the car loaded, all the must haves within easy reach for the day ahead! We’re going ‘old skool’ on this trip and we have a bunch of mixed tapes all made up for this adventure! We go over the checklist before we head out: coffee-check, kleenex-check. big thermos of ice water-check check, Werther’s Originals-double check, Cosmopolitan to do the sex quizzes-checkarooni! It looks like we’re about ready to go, so we fasten our belts, start the car and wave goodbye to the town that was home for a night! I push the cassette into the player and out blasts Ch-ch-ch-changes by David Bowie, so we burst into song and smile wide as the miles start flying by! It’s time to ‘turn and face the strange’! 😀 The time passes pleasantly and we’re needing a pee break, so the next gas station we come to we pull in, in a cloud of dust, and get the key to the restroom and do our business! I’m not one to stop and not get a cup of coffee, so I refill my go-cup and we’re on our way again! The day is getting warm, we have the windows down and our hair is covering our faces as we sing. The windshield is a myriad of bug guts, and just as we point out a particularly scenic vista, something zips past my head and into the back seat! I’m not sure what it was, but I know it’s not good! We both look back, seeing if we can find the unexpected intruder and as we both spot it at the same time, we shriek, ‘GRASSHOPPER’! Oh my gawd…..just then it hops up towards the front and I’m in a panic! I’m swatting and jumping up and down as much as I can and we’re both screaming! You see, we’ve both been completely terrified of grasshoppers all our lives! I know, I know….it’s only a bug, but we can’t help it!! My cup of coffee is forgotten as my arms wave wildly and my cup lands on my lap and slowly seeps out onto my pants leg then drops lazily to the floor leaving a trail of coffee in it’s wake! Now I have more to worry about than a grasshopper. I get control of myself enough to get the car pulled over onto the shoulder and we evacuate the car like our lives depend on it! The grasshopper has ended up on the passengers seat, and since it’s not my side I point at it and say, ‘come on, get it outa there!’. At first I don’t think she’s going to comply but she bravely reaches in with her shoe and starts whaling away at it! I guess catch and release wasn’t in her plan!! She flicks it onto the drivers seat with her fingers and laughs as I flip her the bird! The grasshopper is disposed of and my cup of coffee is still laying on the floor beside the clutch, all dusty and grimy! My new pants now have a huge coffee stain on them, and I’m not not looking as fresh as I was when we left! We’re ready to continue on our way now and as I put it into gear and prepare to pull away, the car stalls! I turn the key and am rewarded with nothing, just the cranking sound as it fails to fire! I look at her, she looks at me and I try again! Nothing, I shrug and grab my phone. I just hope the tow truck driver is good looking! We get someone to tow the car to town and we find a shop to fix it, the tow truck driver was an old guy, but very nice! Here’s the picture taken of me just after we got the car into the shop! We’ve found a motel to stay at and it’s next door to a bar named ‘Roadhouse’, so it looks like we’re going to have a good night!!
This scene and entry into the travel log all came about from the ‘Live Free’ A & B pose sets from Le Poppycock! This set is one of my favourites and I’m going to be sitting on and leaning against cars and trucks for the rest of the summer! Each set has six poses including a pose ball a static pose and a pose ball for heels when needed! It’s available at the July round of Collabor88 which runs until the end of the month! While you’re at C88 you should grab the ‘Vintage Roadtrip Car’ from NOMAD, which I’m using here! I’ve always loved the old Volkswagen Beetles!
As for my outfit! I made a few purchases while I was at Collabor88, including the ‘Roadie Capris’ from Maddict! They’re fitted for the Lara mesh body from Maitreya, the Hourglass body from SLink, and the Isis and Freya mesh bodies from Belleza and the fatpack includes twelve colours, with or without the coffee stain! The coffee stain was a no brainer for me! It’s usually part of my outfit!
My shoes are the perfect travelling footwear! The ‘Katrine Heels’ from Ingenue are available now at Summerfest’17. They’re compatible with the SLink and Maitreya mid feet and come in twelve colours, this is ‘saddle’.
The ‘My Hair Suzy’ hair is from [monso] and, like said, made a ‘few’ purchases at Collabor88, to say the least! This is from the black and white pack!
As usual I’m wearing the Lilo bento mesh head from Catwa with the Luna skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada, along with the Lara mesh body from Maitreya and the mid feet from SLink.
The ‘Coffee Cup, plain’ is from floorplan but the gacha is available at the Consignment & brocante main store!
Now, the garage that we ended up taking the car to get fixed was suggested by the tow truck driver, so I hope he does good work! But, he seems to keep a cluttered work area. I’ve got my suitcase out of the trunk, which is in the front of the car, for anyone who doesn’t know that about a Beetle, and the suitcase is from the ‘On the Road’ gacha set from (Milk Motion). The “Gasoline Cans’ and the ‘Pop Machine’ in the background, ‘Gentlemen’s restroom’ sign and the ‘RX9-1000 Boombox’ are from 7 Emporium, one of my favourite places to find neat and quirky things! From Consignment is the Oil Bottles, Tool Chest, Wood Poster, and Industrial Fan from The Garage Collection gacha set! The ‘Trash Can for Ash’, ‘Ice Cream’ vending machine, and ‘Factory Chair’ are from various gacha sets from Soy. The ‘Big Clock’ is from The Industrial Side gacha set from APT B. The ‘Safety First’ safety station is from the ‘Home Improvement’ gacha set from Second Spaces. The ‘Exit’ sign is from NOMAD.
I’m inside the bays for the firetrucks in the ‘Central Fire Station’ from KraftWork. It’s a brilliant design and with all the room in it, it could be turned into anything!
