Apricot Explosion

Apricot Explosion

I’ve got my cup of coffee, it’s sprinkling a little bit of rain outside, and the laundry is on the spin cycle, what more does a girl need on a Saturday morning? But that has nothing to do with what I want to talk about today. I want to say a few words about Second Life photography and the use of Photo Shop. I’ve thought about this topic for quite some time and after a very nice conversation with fellow blogger, Hunnie Von Munster I’ve decided to take on this topic in a blog post. I will admit that I don’t use Photo Shop(as anyone can probably tell) and probably never will, for no other reason than my attention span for learning lasts about 45 seconds and I don’t think I could master PS in that time! I’m happy using windlight and a little bit of editing in my now obsolete Picasa program. I enjoy seeing the different effects that can be obtained by windlight alone, and take my time trying different ones, for each picture. Lord knows I can’t remember what one gives what effects, but though it takes time, I do enjoy it. With that said, I also love the effects that Photo Shop can bring to a photograph. I’m totally blown away every day by the incredible creativity shown by so many Second Life photographers. I admire the incredible talent and the work put into the photos, and I favourite all that catch my eye. But, there’s always a but isn’t there! But, my one pet peeve in the world of Second Life photography is when photo contests are held there’s no distinction made between photographs that have post processing done and those that don’t. In my mind it’s comparing apples to oranges. They’re all beautiful in their own way, but they cannot be compared. I’d like to see more separation between the two photography styles and have them both embraced equally as separate entities. I don’t think it’s about one being better than the other, they’re just different ways of being creative, and that’s what it’s all about.

You an check out Hunnie’s work on her blog and flickr.

Okay, now how bout those colours! I do have a passion for the orange shades and maybe I’ve overdone it a bit here, but I couldn’t help myself. To start with, the ‘Annabelle Bodysuit, from Stories&Co. by Flowey comes in some spectacular colours! It’s exclusively for the Lara mesh body and comes in lots of colours, with the set of 5 ‘nude’ tones in a HUD driven, set at a reduced price. The one I’m wearing here is one of the ‘nude’ options! There’s also a transparent top version for each colour. This bodysuit is available now exclusively at ~uber~.

The ‘Ribbon Collar’ from !NFINITY is one of my favourites, it’s resizable, HUD driven with 7 colour options for the ribbon and comes in either gold(seen here), silver, or black metal.

The ‘Meditation Flower, black’ tattoo is from Carol G Tattoo Wear. It’s a group gift for the SLF&O group, so you can drop in at the main store, join that group and grab it. The group is free to join.

As always, I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwwa and the Lara mesh body from Maitreya. I’ve added a touch of eye shadow from the ‘Shoreline Set’ from WarPaint. It’s available at the current round of Appliquè.

My eyes are one of the ten options from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ from Zombie Suicide.

One of my favourite hair is the Anime 05 from Dura Hair.

This pose is from the ‘Wet Sand A’ set of poses from BODYLANGUAGE SLC. The set contains six bento poses perfect for the beach or bedroom.

Behind me is the lovely view I have from my home. I’m on my Mid Century Bed from Dutchie and the Rubber Tree houseplant is from What Next.

  1. I agree with you about photography contests, the distinction must be made for fairness. Also those sort of contests where you get your friends to vote for you *laughs* – terrible things!
