I close my eyes and envision myself taking a walk in the winter, among the frozen trees, the snow covered ground and the dazzling blue sky above. There’s no sound but the soft crunching of the snow under my boots. The air is crisp and as I lift my face to the sun I feel the tiniest bit of heat, unbelieving that just 6 months ago it could burn. The snow is blinding in it’s whiteness and my breath drifts in the air like soft plumes of smoke, I feel peace and relaxation wash over me, nature in an form brings this to me. I open my eyes, reality setting in as I put on my winter coat and boots preparing to shovel the newly fallen snow. I step outside, grab the snow scoop and start shoveling off the step then working my way outward. That’s when it hits me, my nose starts to run and my eyes water, my breath catches in my lungs as I inhale the frozen air, then I begin to cough. Within 10 minutes my fingers are cold as ice and the tip of my nose is burning, since it’s had frostbite in the past. My feet are numb and when I straighten to rest for a minute the full effect of the 28 KPH wind stings my face, so I hunker lower into my scarf. I clear snow for another 10 minutes, the cold has now seeped right into me and I feel like I’ll never be warm again, I need a hot shower followed by a cup of hot coffee and some warm fuzzy slippers. This is the Canadian prairies in the winter, the thermometer says it’s only -29°C but oh man…that wind is making it feel like -42°C. Some days I wish I lived somewhere with a warmer climate but, at least we don’t have a mosquito problem right now!
I’m out in the virtual snow in Second Life for this shot, I found some really pretty areas for pictures at Luane’s Winter World.
One thing that I love about Second Life fashion is the creativity of the designers, and how every form outer wear is created to mimic real life. fame femme has really been at the forefront of this and I absolutely LOVE the ‘Yana Puff Vest and Dress’, their newest release. They’re sold as separates which makes them ultra versatile and come in 8 really vibrant colours to mix and match. The dress is a little bit short for my comfort zone so I’ve added a pair of leggings to the outfit. The vest and sweater dress are both fitted exclusively for the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya and are available now and until February 19 at District 20. All releases from fame femme are 100% original mesh and the detailing is exquisite!
The ‘G1020’ hair is from tram.
My look all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.
This is pose 8 from ‘Pack 91’ from Overlow Poses.
