Corner Gas

Corner Gas

In my part of Canada there’s a corner gas station in most small towns along the vast miles of highways in the province. The TV show ‘Corner Gas‘ was a really cute Canadian show that went for 6 seasons and was filmed mostly in a small town in the south end of the province. I enjoyed it…it had a quirky sense of humour and depicted any rural town in the country, but most notably the prairies. There were quite a few guest stars in it during it’s run, the one I remember best is The Tragically Hip as the local garage band. I had driven past the main outdoor set many times in my travels, but sadly The Ruby and the gas station connected to it were demolished in 2016 and the town grocery store, the FOO MAR T, was lost to fire in 2014. The grain elevator still stands, with the town’s name ‘Dog River’ painted on it, which is in fact the fictional name of the town. Normally us Canadians rely solely on the US for our entertainment, but ‘Corner Gas’ was a show made entirely here that was really fairly successful. I enjoyed seeing how we, as Canadians and prairie folk, were depicted. Since I’ve lived near a couple of small towns for most of my life, the fact is, every small town does have the characters in the show. That’s what makes any community so interesting…..the characters!

Today, I’m waiting in the late evening for my shift to end, just killing time hoping no other cars pull up for gas. I don’t mind pumping gas….there’s lots of fresh air and it’s a fairly mundane job! If only there was no public involved…but then again any kind of retail work relies on the public. But, with my cooler full of beverages and the radio playing all the old classic rock I love, the setting sun casts wonderful shadows and it’s nice just to sit here and be at peace. The feature today is the ‘Gas Station’ from KraftWork and available now at FaMESHed. I’ve kept my surroundings simple to help focus on what’s part of the ‘Gas Station’ and to show what potential there is. After all the ruckus of the October round FaMESHed, this is in a new venue and I have to say I was one of the minority who really liked the build from October. The lag was no worse than any other busy event and although not as easy to shop, it was a really stunning creation. I felt bad for the builders and the entire FaMESHed group, they didn’t deserve the backlash they received. In my humble opinion, anyway! Anyway, about this incredible build from NODNOL Jameson of KraftWork. It has a land impact of 70 and a footprint of 23X22m. It’s highly detailed with an incredible amount of potential to make your corner gas station as realistic as possible. The entire station is in one piece to make placing and moving it so easy and it’s perfectly designed to make recreating real life fun! The two bay garage and gas lanes are sized to fit cars and trucks and the store is big enough to carry all of the convenience store goods. FaMESHed runs until November 27, which sounds like a long way away, but time flies….especially if you’re having Second Life fun. 🙂 Also from KraftWork is the ‘Majestic Radio’ from the ‘Vintage Radio’ gacha set. It comes with a decor only version and a version scripted to play your favourite station.

The ‘Lawn Chair – Yellow’ and ‘Cooler, red’ are from the ‘Open Road’ gacha set from Consignment. I have to admit that I have no idea if there’s anything in the cooler….but if there is I’ll be happy to share!

And as for my outfit? I’m wearing the ‘Relaxed Blouse’ from Tres Blah and the ‘Soft Stretch Jeans, smoke blue’ from the ‘Mini Jacket and Jeans’ gacha set from Mikunch and available now at SaNaRae. The ‘Gentleman’s Sunglasses’ are from Izzie’s. and the ‘USAGI Trainers’ from [Vale Koer].

The ‘Jisun’ hair is from [monso] and available at FaMESHed.

It all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, which should be released shortly, I’ll be the first to know…so keep watching for the date! It’s on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

I’m On My Way!

I'm On My Way!

I’ve always thought that there’s nothing so decadent as being able to go to a bar or lounge for drinks in the middle of the afternoon. I think it comes from the years that I was on the road. I had many a day sitting in the home city of the company I worked for, waiting for a load to take somewhere. If it was a Friday afternoon and I still had no load, then it might mean a weekend waiting, but that wasn’t always a bad thing. I’d spend my time at the truck stop, awaiting word of a load to pick up so I’d have a destination to go to. I usually wasn’t alone, several other drivers from the same company would all wait around, all hoping the satellite in the truck had a waiting message saying there’s somewhere to go. In those days I was a drinker….enjoying time, when possible, with fellow drivers at the bar, to then make my way back to my truck in the middle of the night and awaken the next morning to begin the waiting again. If 4 PM came and went without word, the beverage of choice changed from coffee to whatever I happened to have a taste for. In those days it was usually rye and coke. For my American friends that’s whiskey, I’ve ordered rye and coke in bars in the States and the bartender usually gave me an odd look. But anyway, I no longer partake in alcoholic beverages, its been many years since I’ve had any. When I had first stopped drinking I went out with the girls from work one evening and I got verbally abused for not being any fun since I quit drinking….so I stay home now, where I can have my own kind of fun. At least now I don’t have any coworkers calling me boring….and I don’t wake up with a terrible hangover…and look at the money I save by not drinking! Unfortunately, fun for me is now sitting in my chair with a blanket over my knees buying copious amounts of things from the shopping channel while petting every one of my 49 cats! 😛

I’m on my way to the local watering hole at Mother Road and I’m sporting the ‘Danja Oxfords’ from Ingnue. They get me from point A to point B with no sore feet and looking fine! These are the ‘coffee’ version and are HUD driven with six textures, I’ve chosen the plaid this time around. They fit the SLink flat feet.

I’m completely in love with the ‘Soft Stretch Jeans’ from Mikunch and available at the current round of SaNaRae. This is the black version and there’s 8 commons and 2 rare to play for in the ‘Mini Jacket and Jeans’ gacha set. The jeans each have 2 fits and 5 cuff options via HUD with the whole set being incredible in quality and fit! The set is exclusive for the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

I’ve added a pair of dark brown socks from the ‘Cozy Tights’ set from Izzie’s.
