You Just Never Know What You'll See!

Have you ever wondered what goes on outside overnight? I don’t know about anyone else, but once it’s dark outside, there could be any number of things going on out there! Usually things that I’d rather not know about, like an ax murderer, aliens, or worst of all….ghosts! But, I had the bright idea a year or so ago to get a trail cam to set up in the yard to capture anything that might be wandering through. My one fear is that I’ll see something that I’d rather not know about, but so far…so good! There’s usually a deer or two, a skunk or three, or a coyote. Oh….and the odd stray cat, and sometimes a raccoon or a bunny. The coyotes are the ones I hate to see, they’ve become so brave in around the yard that it’s a little disconcerting to see them casually walk around. A couple evenings ago I stepped out onto my step and came face to face with one about 30 feet from me. He didn’t run or get scared, he just stood and stared at me. I have no doubt he was on his way to see if there was a chicken out to steal, so I tried to scare him into running away, but he just loped off a little bit and then stood looking at me again. There are guns on the premises, but I really hate guns, so needless to say the worst I could do was tell him to Eff off and try to look scary, which some people would say comes naturally to me! 😛 This morning it was a whole new ball game though……there on the camera, was a big old horse…just wandering around in the dark( I don’t have horses at the moment), and behind it….following along was a little horse! I knew whose they were once the little one showed itself, so it was just a matter of waiting for daylight and scouting around so I could tell the neighbour where he could find them. They had moved on up the field to the north and were heading east when I found them. So, if the scariest thing I capture on the camera is a little bit of wildlife or a farm animal or two…that’s fine…it’s those 2 legged monsters I really don’t want to see out there, skulking around in the dark!

There’s something in my front yard here that I’d be really shocked to see! The ‘Wicked Legs’ from {MYNX} are exclusive to the October round of The Chapter Four and add a really nice touch to your Halloween decorating! They’re 100% original mesh and they’re copy/modify so you can adjust the thigh shadows to where you need them. The Chapter Four runs until the end of the month!

October is full of Halloween events and goings on, and [QE] Designs is in a couple of them with some seasonal decor! I’m showing the ‘Wire Punkin Set’ here, which includes 4 styles of wire pumpkins and lots of options! They’re colour change via drop down menu with six colours for the pumpkin, 4 stem colours and 5 light colours. These are exclusive to the Mad Circus 3 Halloween & Gacha Fair, which runs until October 31. Also from [QE] Designs is the ‘Fall Punkin Set v2’, which includes 4 shapes with 8 colours each via drop down menu. They’re copy/mod so you can cover your whole yard in pumpkins if you want! These are available at Trick or Treat Lane, which opens today and runs until November 3, as well as Mad Circus 3.

Another event for October to be on the lookout for is Season of the Witch! It starts tomorrow(October 14) and runs until November 4, and Raindale has the ‘Charfell Cabin’ exclusive to the event. This cute cabin has a footprint of 10X15 and a land impact of 40, and it’s modifiable to be resized as needed. It comes on a platform(23X23 footprint and 8 land impact) which is HUD driven with 5 grass textures, and it can be removed if needed! I’m using it here! The cabin is scripted with the Kool Door system so you can limit access. This cabin has a really unique roof line and some great accents, so if you want to get a full view you can check out Keira’s flickr site!

I’ve used the chairs from ‘Kate’s Vintage Chairs’ from Nutmeg, which is a set of six chairs, all with really unique shapes and detailing.

The ‘Deathly Tree, orange lights’ is from Refuge and available now at Salem. It’s in a gothic style stone urn with two ravens standing at it’s base. The lights can be set to blink or to stay on.

You can’t see them well, but I’ve added the ‘Black Baby Birds’ from +Half-Deer+ on the step of the cabin. These are cute little black chicks that come with various groupings and also singles, plus some wearable ones too! These are also at Salem.

I’m using grasses from Raindale and Kidd Grass here.

Living the Dream

I can’t believe it’s October already and with the Canadian Thanksgiving coming up this weekend, it’s time to take a moment and think of all the things to be thankful for. I don’t like to appreciate my blessings just once a year, I try to think of everything I have to be grateful for every day. I wonder, if more people were thankful for what they had instead of always wanting more, would the world be a happier place? We’re bombarded everywhere we look with what we need to make life more enjoyable, right from cars, beer, electronics, and even our looks. It’s all just a marketing tool to sell things that no one needs, and it works as witnessed by the rise in consumerism. There’s nothing I need in my life, I have a roof over my head, it’s not big and fancy but it keeps the warm in and the rain out. I have a vehicle to get me from point A to point B. It’s 20 years old but it runs and my truck and I have a long history together. I have food on my table……I grow and raise most of it myself, and I’m very thankful that my health allows that. I do have the extras in life like a computer, smartphone, and TV with cable, but I could live without them if I had to. I’m not rich, but I have enough…..and really….since I’ve never seen anyone’s possessions disappear when they pass on, I’m pretty sure you can’t take it with you!

This picture pretty much sums up how I think a perfect day could look like. It’s a gorgeous fall evening and my cat is keeping occupied watching the Koi swimming peacefully in the pond while the pups wait for me to give them a bath and play with them. I can’t imagine a life without animals…..they are the constant in my life that always make me smile. I’m surrounded by everything needed to bring peace to me and it’s all from │T│L│C│. I’ll start with the ‘Garden with Wings’ which is exclusive to Rock Your Rack 2017, a Second Life event that raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The garden includes the pond, flower beds, bench, and the butterflies flitting carelessly around can be turned on/off by the owner. The lighting is also can also be turned on/off with a touch. It has a land impact of 87 and is modifiable, but do take care when modifying. The ‘Butterfly Watering Can’ is a hunt gift with 100% of it’s 10L$ cost being donated to the cause. And also having 100% of it’s cost donated is the ‘Butterfly Bed’, a nice little flower bed that includes lighting, butterflies, and gorgeous Hydrangeas in full bloom. While at Rock Your Rack 2017 you can also purchase the ‘Ginger Cat’, who stands on the edge of the pond and watches the fish and often playfully dips it’s paw in the water in hope of catching one of the fish. I played the ‘Animated Puppies’ gacha at the │T│L│C│ main store and scored the ‘Puppies Bathtime, RARE’ which has the 3 puppies waiting patiently for their bath. While I was at the main store I couldn’t resist Pack 3, of 4 free swimming, feedable Koi. I was a little worried that I’d have trouble with placing them in the pond and get them swimming happily, but I had no problems following the directions that are included. I know you can’t see them here, but they are really nice addition to any pond. Rock Your Rack 2017 runs until October 14.

And as for me? I’m wearing the ‘Judi Top’ from .miss chelsea. and available at the current round of ~uber~. The ‘Kaylah Jeans’ are from Just Because and also available at ~uber~. The ‘Autumn Wedges’ are a new release from Eudora 3D and available at Shoetopia. The F1124 hair is from tram. And finally, I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

I’m using pose 52 from the ‘Breaking the Habit’ set of poses from Bauhaus Movement.

Tattoo You

It used to be only a certain type of person got a tattoo! It was the rebels and the bikers then, but it’s become very mainstream now and much more accepted by most people. I know there’s lots of people that frown on them still, but I’m not one of them. I will admit to having a couple of my own in real life. I’ve had them for quite a few years, and thankfully I put them in places where gravity won’t affect them too much. Gravity is a harsh mistress, you know! 😀 I have one on my ankle and one on my shoulder, both fairly small and covered most of the year. I sometimes forget I have them, really. One of my real life neighbours is quite covered in tattoos. I’ve not seen him without a shirt, but he has full sleeves and there’s tattoo peaking out of the neckline of his T shirt so he appears to be covered. So with him looking very much like what you’d think of as a biker or a rebel it was surprising the first time I talked to him. He never swears, he’s super polite, and always calls me dear, in a nice way. He doesn’t have a motorcycle, but he rebuilds old cars and is exceptionally good at it! But you know what I mean, he’s tattooed, he has big bushy hair down past the tops of his shoulders, his beard is a little longer than that and he has tattoos, so you’d think he’s the stereotypical rebel. But no, he’s just a nice guy living his life and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I hope one day someone needs it, I’d like to see how much of him is tattooed!

When I started my Second Life I fell in love pretty much right from the first with virtual tattoos. The quality of them has improved immensely since I was young in this virtual world and with the mesh bodies the detailing can be incredible! I’m so excited to see PIMP MY SHI!T back with new releases for the August round of the Bodyfy event. I’m wearing the Octo Tattoo in medium ink tone, although it comes in colour also and has three ink tones. It’s Omega and TMP compatible and can be worn on all layers. So happy to see PMS back in action!! Bodyfy runs until August 30.

The pose I’m using here is one of the five in the ‘Suri’ set of poses from Imitaion. I’ve always loved SL poses and Imitation is one of my favourite pose stores. The sets are all bento enabled and they’re so expressive and alive. I really think Bento hands have changed the way bloggers and photographers can create photos that really show emotion and bring their scenes to life. You can also find Imitation on Market Place.

The Chapter Four has always been one of my favourite SL events, and I’m so lucky to be able to feature all the incredible work by the designers who participate. I’m featuring some of the gacha items from the ‘Dark Oak’ gacha set from Bee Designs. The Arm Chair, Side Table, and the Poster are all part of the set which has eight common and two RARE to play for. The Chapter Four runs until the end of the month.

The rest of the items that make my home cozy are the ‘Filmore Factory Clock’ from 7 Emporium, the ‘Star Globe,RARE’ lamp from the ‘Vintage Lighting’ gacha set from ::Static:: and available at The Gacha Garden. The ‘Majestic Radio’ is from the ‘Vintage Radio’ gacha set from KraftWork. Each radio in the set has two versions, one scripted for use as a radio and one for decor only. The house plants on the left are from {what next}. The ‘Reading Pile’ of books is from a gacha set from Apple Fall and the books beside the chair are from [zerkalo].

And as for me? I’m wearing the ‘Candice’ set from [Azuchi]. It includes the panties and top, it comes in ten colours and is available at the current round of ~uber~. I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa along with the ‘Lara’ mesh body(including bento hands) from Maitreya. I’ve added a little bit of ‘Smoky Eyeshadow’ from Izzie’s to the look. My eyes are from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ pack from Zombie Suicide and the WAKANA hair is from Argrace.

Every Picture Tells a Story, Don't it!

That’s one of the things I love about photography, every picture tells a story! I’ve always been interested in photography, and have had many cameras over the years. I started with one of those old ones that needed a flash cube and took a 110 film. I have no idea what the 110 stood for, I only knew that there was a 126 film, too! I then went to a 35 mm that was bare bones. I had to focus and get the lighting set right manually, it wasn’t easy, believe me! Then an auto focus 35 mm camera, and then a digital point and shoot camera. I did, eventually splurge on a Nikon D50 when they first came out, but I found a point and shoot was a lot more versatile. Since I’ve been in SL, I have to admit that I take very few pictures in real life. I use my smart phone if I need to share a picture of something with someone, but to take a picture, just for the sake of taking a picture, I just haven’t done it in a long time! I will admit, too, that there are very few pictures of me, anywhere! I always manage to evade the photographer, at least most of the time! I do have pictures of me throughout life, marking the milestones. The first day of school, the birthdays year after year, my first car, me and my horse, me and my cow, me and my….oh you get the idea! But, as time has passed, I’ve rarely had anything new or unique in my life to warrant a picture to commemorate the occasion! My birthdays still come and go, but I don’t really want to be reminded how many of them I’ve had. So, as time goes on, I take pictures of Liz constantly, pretty much every day, but she’s always ready for the camera! I spend countless hours choosing hair, make up, clothing, accessories, and shoes, all in preparation for being in front of the camera! In the words of Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard, “All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my closeup.”

I do want to make the statement that I am featuring the lovely decor in this photograph! Don’t look at me, or my butt, which I’m trying to cover, but failing miserably at! I was told I wouldn’t be in the shot, but here I am, caught in this awkward position! How embarrassing!

I’m completely surrounded by home decor items from Raindale, and they’re all beautiful! I love decorating in Second Life, and there’s a bazillion items out there to make your SL home just like real life! But, one of my go-to designers is Keira Raindale of Raindale! The wide variety of items, all unique and low prim, makes it a no-brainer when choosing what to place in your home and garden. The newest release is the Marwood Shed and the Woodhurst Dining Set. Both are at Spoonful of Sugar, an event which raises money for MSF/Doctors Without Borders, runs until April 1st, and there’s lots to see and do there! The shed is in the silent auction, and won’t be sold after the event, so it’s a one of a kind! The winning bidder will get two versions of the shed, one with lights and one without, and so pretty to host a social gathering out in the garden! The dining set is exclusive to the event, and with the generosity of Keira, 100% of the sales from both items goes towards MSF/Doctors Without Borders. Also at Spoonful of Sugar, with 50% of sales going to the charity, is the Basket of Apples. It’s can be used as decor or a pose prop with five poses, and the basket also dispenses a single apple to eat, on touch. I’m also using the carpet(HUD driven w/5 colours) and lantern(with particles) from the Sugarvale Gacha set, which is at the main store. The antique frame, stack of books, and candle holder are all from the Mauner Set, which is also available at the main store!

And now, as for me, I’m wearing the Layla Dress from AGATA mode! It’s available at the current round of Kustom 9, and I had the bright idea of going on the first day of the event! Yea, it was busy, and laggy, but I saw a few things that I just HAD to have, this dress was one of them! It comes in three solid colours and three prints, and the panties can be worn or not, your choice! I’m very glad I wore the panties today!! 😀

The Anime 05 hair is from Dura Hair.

The Peace & Love necklace is from Bamse.

As always, I’m wearing the Alex mesh head from Logo wearing the Alexa skin in honey tone from Sinful Curves Skins. Along with the Lara mesh body from Maitreya and the Vista Bento Hands from Vista Animations.

And the pose! Green Adder of IMMERSIV likes to see me in awkward positions, like getting caught in front of a camera while showing my undies!! Thank you, Green!♥

All the slurls for the hunt can be found <a href="https://stuffmyinventoryhunts.wordpress.com/2016/09/17/the-upcyclers-hunt-2/" target="_blank">here</a>.

I have to admit that I’m a home body…..completely! There’s only one place that truly makes me comfortable and that’s home! My home is my safe place…not that the world out there is anything to hide from……I’m just happiest at home! I’m the same way in Second Life, I make a home for myself where I can relax, feel secure, and do all that important Second Life stuff…….like organizing inventory, changing my clothes, or something a little more enjoyable like sitting on the deck and looking out at the water!

Here’s a little part of my beach cottage at Winters Wind! I just adore it here….the lots are large, it’s very secluded, and I have a terrific sunset view of the water! It’s truly peaceful! When I’m tired of looking out my real life window and seeing the snow, I just come to my little piece of heaven at the Winters Wind sim, and forget about real life!

Now, lets talk about my decor! I’ll start with a couple items from The Upcyclers Hunt! The hunt runs until the end of the month and the theme for the creators is to create an item that is made by repurposing anything they have on hand! The Recycled Tin Can Plane Clock Shelf, from Dixie Dandelion, is really unique! It holds a few books, the clock keeps SL time, and it’s such an inventive way to use a tin can! I wonder if anyone has tried this in real life? Also, for The Upcyclers Hunt is a gift from Raindale! The hunt gift is the Upcyclers Porch Swing, made from a couple of old doors(not seen here), but there’s also a pretty tray of coffee and doughnuts too! I’m a typical Canadian and love coffee and doughnuts! You can see it close up if you zoom in while on flickr!

I was out doing the hunt yesterday and I found the Frog Pond at Pastiche, but I put that outside, but I just love the crate and bag of oats that it came in!! The tray of coffee and doughnuts is sitting on it. All the slurls for the hunt can be found here.

Also included in this picture is the Fire Flies Shelter and the Velit Chair from Bokeh.. They’re going through a renovation right now in world but you can shop on Market Place for the fun Bokeh. creations! The old floor lamp in bronze and the tin vase and twig are from gacha machines at tarte.. The rug in native design is from Zigana.
