Take Me Away From Here

Take Me Away From Here

It’s day 16 with snow on the ground and wintry conditions here, only another 150 or so to go before it might end! But who’s counting? ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s not even officially winter yet, but the Canadian prairies have never considered that relevant when it comes to weather. So, I know I shouldn’t be tired of it already, but I’m just feeling a little edgy! I’d like to get in the truck and just pick a direction and drive. Summer driving is nice…the roads are dry and clear and it’s nice to get out for some fresh air along the way. But winter driving, feels totally different. The heater is blasting out warm air making the vehicle all cozy, the fresh Tim Horton’s hot chocolate I stop for is steamy and full of chocolatey goodness. The music of choice fits my mood perfectly as I point the truck to the west and begin my journey. It always seems a journey starts by going west. It’s always easier driving in the summer when the roads are clear, but winter can throw some nasty stuff at you at times, so its always good to be aware of any changes going on outside. With the amount of miles that I’ve driven over the years on the road, I’ve come to accept bad driving conditions as just part of the journey, and although it slows me down, I’m not bothered by it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some scary experiences, but average icy or snowy roads or bad visibility don’t bother me. The rain when it’s -15ยฐC isn’t one of my favourite things, that floating feeling always sends a burst of adrenaline through my body, making me super focused and ready for anything. The one thing I learned about winter driving, which many people seem to not realize, is that speed is everything. Slow down people, just slow down! It may mean you get where you’re going a little late, but you know what they say, better late than never!

I’m standing out on Route 66 at Mother Road, I can’t decide if I should hop in that truck and go, emulating Thelma and Louise as I go flying off the cliff of the sim, or should I just hitch hike and hope someone nice picks me up. Neither of those choices seems like a good idea! So, I’ll just stand here, in quiet contemplation.

Take a look at the ‘Adette Heels’ from Ingenue, here! These super cute ice creamy, ooey gooey topping and waffle cone shoes are just what someone with a sweet tooth needs! They fit the SLink and Maitreya high feet and come in 12 sweet colours, these are the raspberry. They’re available at the Candy Fair until December 1.

The ‘Pepper’ hair is from [KoKoLoReS] and this is from the Balayage pack. I love it’s short and sexy style!

The ‘Bella Tank Top’ in nude is from Tres Blah.

These jeans are from a previous round of Luxe Box from Blueberry.

You can see just a bit of the ‘Just Love’ tattoo from Carol G Tattoo Wear. It’s a tattoo that I like to have on a lot, hoping to send a message, or at the very least remind me to love, even when it’s not the emotion of choice at any given moment.

The ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone is from Avada and available now at Appliquรจ. She looks beautiful on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

This is pose 63 from MILA Poses.

Corner Gas

Corner Gas

In my part of Canada there’s a corner gas station in most small towns along the vast miles of highways in the province. The TV show ‘Corner Gas‘ was a really cute Canadian show that went for 6 seasons and was filmed mostly in a small town in the south end of the province. I enjoyed it…it had a quirky sense of humour and depicted any rural town in the country, but most notably the prairies. There were quite a few guest stars in it during it’s run, the one I remember best is The Tragically Hip as the local garage band. I had driven past the main outdoor set many times in my travels, but sadly The Ruby and the gas station connected to it were demolished in 2016 and the town grocery store, the FOO MAR T, was lost to fire in 2014. The grain elevator still stands, with the town’s name ‘Dog River’ painted on it, which is in fact the fictional name of the town. Normally us Canadians rely solely on the US for our entertainment, but ‘Corner Gas’ was a show made entirely here that was really fairly successful. I enjoyed seeing how we, as Canadians and prairie folk, were depicted. Since I’ve lived near a couple of small towns for most of my life, the fact is, every small town does have the characters in the show. That’s what makes any community so interesting…..the characters!

Today, I’m waiting in the late evening for my shift to end, just killing time hoping no other cars pull up for gas. I don’t mind pumping gas….there’s lots of fresh air and it’s a fairly mundane job! If only there was no public involved…but then again any kind of retail work relies on the public. But, with my cooler full of beverages and the radio playing all the old classic rock I love, the setting sun casts wonderful shadows and it’s nice just to sit here and be at peace. The feature today is the ‘Gas Station’ from KraftWork and available now at FaMESHed. I’ve kept my surroundings simple to help focus on what’s part of the ‘Gas Station’ and to show what potential there is. After all the ruckus of the October round FaMESHed, this is in a new venue and I have to say I was one of the minority who really liked the build from October. The lag was no worse than any other busy event and although not as easy to shop, it was a really stunning creation. I felt bad for the builders and the entire FaMESHed group, they didn’t deserve the backlash they received. In my humble opinion, anyway! Anyway, about this incredible build from NODNOL Jameson of KraftWork. It has a land impact of 70 and a footprint of 23X22m. It’s highly detailed with an incredible amount of potential to make your corner gas station as realistic as possible. The entire station is in one piece to make placing and moving it so easy and it’s perfectly designed to make recreating real life fun! The two bay garage and gas lanes are sized to fit cars and trucks and the store is big enough to carry all of the convenience store goods. FaMESHed runs until November 27, which sounds like a long way away, but time flies….especially if you’re having Second Life fun. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also from KraftWork is the ‘Majestic Radio’ from the ‘Vintage Radio’ gacha set. It comes with a decor only version and a version scripted to play your favourite station.

The ‘Lawn Chair – Yellow’ and ‘Cooler, red’ are from the ‘Open Road’ gacha set from Consignment. I have to admit that I have no idea if there’s anything in the cooler….but if there is I’ll be happy to share!

And as for my outfit? I’m wearing the ‘Relaxed Blouse’ from Tres Blah and the ‘Soft Stretch Jeans, smoke blue’ from the ‘Mini Jacket and Jeans’ gacha set from Mikunch and available now at SaNaRae. The ‘Gentleman’s Sunglasses’ are from Izzie’s. and the ‘USAGI Trainers’ from [Vale Koer].

The ‘Jisun’ hair is from [monso] and available at FaMESHed.

It all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, which should be released shortly, I’ll be the first to know…so keep watching for the date! It’s on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

Things That Go Bump In the Night

Things That Go Bump In the Night

Ohhhh…there’s nothing scarier than waking up suddenly in the middle of the night after having heard something unidentifiable! I’ve been there…..many many times. I’ve always been kind of jumpy and I spent most of my early years listening to loud music…solely for the purpose of covering up any sound that I might hear. There was always tappings and clunks and the odd scuffle sound in the old house. I’d lay in bed, frozen and not breathing for fear of it happening again. And it sometimes did. Where I live now, there’s no sounds, except the furnace cutting in, the coyotes skulking out in the yard, or the ice maker in the fridge dropping cubes into the tray. There are times though that the dog wakes up for some reason, that I have no idea of, and she has a conniption and runs to the door. It’s times like that that I don’t know whether to go out and see or close the drapes and pretend there’s nothing out there. I do love my dog, she’s a real sweetie, but does anyone with pets in the house ever wonder why they stare at you? Mine does it all the time and I get paranoid and ask her, ‘What’s wrong, am I going to die?. You know they say dogs can sense these types of things…..well I’m still here so I guess that’s not it!

I’ve got some goodies here today for you! Starting with the incredible ‘Distressed Lipstick and Shadow’ from Veechi! I love this look…..it’s kind of how I look when I apply my make up in real life, only mine’s not this neat! These are sold separately and are available at N21. These are compatible with the Lelutka and Catwa mesh heads and I’d like to mention that they only work on the Catwa BENTO mesh heads! There’s a notecard included with the step by step instructions to wear them together on the Catwa head, which I read and reread a few times to get it right! If I can do it, anyone can!

The October round of Men Only Monthly is open for business and !NFINITY has the ‘MEMEMTO Necklace’ exclusive to the event. It comes in gold or silver, it’s scripted for easy resizing and the pendant is so easy to put your own image in! I’ve put in a pic of, who else, Eddie Vedder! I will hug this necklace in my sleep! ๐Ÿ˜€

BAD clown 13_001

I’m wearing the ‘KEF’ hair from [BAD HAIR DAY] here and it’s such a distinctive look! Step one to standing out in the crowd? Wear [BAD] hair…..there’s none like it. The colour palette is huge and each hair comes with a mirrored version for lots of options. And remember that all the hair comes with two layers to colour independently, so even more options!!

You can see I’m wearing rings in the large pic, but for a closer look refer to the close up. These are the ‘Suki Rings’ from Slipper Originals and they’re available at the current round of Designer Circle. They’re HUD driven with 10 metals to select from, each ring can be turned on/off, and there’s a set for both hands. These are fitted for the bento mesh hands from Maitreya and the SLink Dynamic hands.

The ‘Atomic Crop Top’ from Tres Blah was in a previous round of Luxe Box! I’ve never been disappointed in the items from Tres Blah there….but then again I would never expect to be.

These jeans are from September ’16 Luxe Box from Blueberry. They’re timeless!

The ‘USAGI Trainers’ are from [Vale Koer].

As usual I’m wearing the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada. Remember that it won’t be available until November…so keep watching for news on it’s release. I’m wearing it on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

I’ve fallen completely in love with poses from Del May. This is ‘Wall Melt, male’ and it’s really a very versatile pose…..I could just as easily be drunk, as scared, tired, and on the verge of giving up to the clown!

And speaking of the clown, it’s from the ‘Circus Rot’ gacha set from Remarkable Oblivion. The gacha is 100L$ per play, but each item is spectacular, like YoYo the clown, here!

I’m standing in the ‘Tales of Horror-Corridor’ from Hera and available at the October round of POCKETGACHA. I really love this easy way of playing gachas at a fair, all from the comfort of my own home. There’s 9 commons and one rare to play for.

Carry On

Carry On

Whatever the words that you hear,
Somehow the meaning is clear,
We’re all on the same ship together, moving on,

From the first time that life could be heard,
To the last sounds of men on this earth,
The question is always the same, where are we going, where are we going?
Ooh carry on, carry on,
There’s a silver light beside you,
Take the hand that’s there to guide you,
Through this night to where we came from,
Carry on, carry on,
When the autumn leaves are falling,
And you hear the voices calling you away,
Then do not fear, you’ll carry on,
Carry on, carry on…
Love is the daughter of life, comfort to trouble and strife,
She’s always beside you to help you carry on,

Oh they say that the stars in the sky,
Are the souls of the people who die,
Will we meet them again when we reach our destination?

Carry On‘ ~Chris De Burgh~ from the album ‘Crusader’

Turn up the volume for this one…you have to hear the beautiful lyrics. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just a musical interlude for you today, I hope you enjoy it.

I’m sitting out front of the ‘Mirage Motel 66’ on the ‘Mother Road‘ sim, and it may be a little run down, but it’s better than laying on the ground out behind the gas station! Don’t mind me, but I’m still in my jammies, the ‘Pajama Pants from {MYNX} are so comfy I may wear them all day. They come in ten prints, and they’re all the kind of prints one expects in a good pair of pajamas, and they fit the Maitreya, SLink, Belleza, and TMP mesh bodies.

I’ve paired them with the ‘Slumber Party Tank, white’ from Tres Blah! The ‘Slumber Party’ gacha set is one of my favourites, it has everything a girl needs to have a fun night with the girls. Note how the tank fits perfectly over the tank!!

The ‘ASAGAO’ hair is from Argrace.

The ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone is an upcoming release from Avada, I’ve fallen completely in love with this one! The skin is on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya. I’ve added a little bit of shadow from the ‘Monroe Shadow’ set from Veechi, and my eyes are from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ set from Zombie Suicide.

This coffee mug and pose are from the ‘Bae Watch’ gacha set from Le Poppycock. Perfect, as always!

I’m seated on the ‘Metal Stool’ from the ‘Iron & Wood’ gacha set from YS&YS.

As I said earlier, I’m outside the ‘Mirage Motel 66’ and I want to confirm that that IS a framed portrait of Christopher Walken in some kind of uniform in that room. Christopher Walken rocks, we need more cowbell!! ๐Ÿ˜€

The Dark Tower, and Other Books That Should Never Be made Into Movies!

The Dark Tower, and Other Books That Should Never Be made Into Movies!

With the release of the movie, The Dark Tower, I thought it was time I express my thoughts on the topic of books into movies. I could sum it all up in four little words, but that would make this post shorter than I want, and I wouldn’t get a chance to complain! And I don’t like missing out on that. ๐Ÿ˜€ The four words I could use are, ‘I don’t like it!’. I don’t think there’s a movie that’s been adapted from a book that I’ve liked, and Stephen King books are the prime example of that. I love Stephen King, well…not personally, I don’t even know him. But, I love his books and have ever since I picked up the very first one, which was The Dead Zone. I’ve read most of them and have mostly enjoyed them all. Except I never did make it through ‘Desperation’, one day maybe. But of all the books, The Stand is my all time favourite, so you can imagine what I said when I heard that Molly Ringwald was cast as Franny for the mini series. Molly Ringwald…..I don’t think there could have been a worse choice, except maybe Rosanne Barr, that wouldn’t be good. But anyway, when I read a good book with good characterization, I see them as if they’re real people and I can envision what they look like and how they act. So, there is NO way Molly Ringwald could ever even remotely be like the Franny I see in my head. Ok…I’ve gone off on a tangent, just the thought of it ‘grinds my gears’! So, when it comes to The Dark Tower, I’ve heard the bad reviews, the complaints that Idris Elba is Roland of Gilead, but the whole problem I have with it is that the series is HUGE! It took me from February to July to finish it all, and I have no idea how they could cram even one of the books into a 95 minute movie. So you know I won’t be going to see it. I won’t go to see any movie made from a Stephen King book, I think he’s too good of a writer to minimalize his stories into the visual form. That’s the best thing about his writing, he creates characters that come to life, without needing to see them. Oh, by the way, I don’t have anything against Molly Ringwald, she’s just not right for the role of Franny….or most other characters she’s ever done!

Ok, it’s the weekend, and I’ve been busy with real life work, but now I have time to sit a bit and finish this post. First off, The Chapter Four opened it’s doors yesterday, and I have to say, I’m honoured to be chosen as a blogger and really look forward to featuring the amazing work of all involved! But, I have never received so many blogger packs in my whole blogging career! (I love it!) I had no idea where to begin, so I picked a couple little things that I took a shine to, to show you. The ‘Triangle Necklaces’ are exclusive to TCF from {MYNX}! They come in gold(seen here), rose gold, and silver. The minimalistic look is perfect for simple summer outfits.

Also from The Chapter Four, is the KC. No 72[Sugar] head ribbon from Kyoko Couture. It’s fun and girly! It’s nice to throw aside the seriousness of life and just think happy thoughts about sunshine, good friends, and having fun at the beach. The ribbon comes in four colours and is scripted for resizing for easy fitting.

I want you to take this opportunity to see the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada up close and with great lighting(thank you LumiPro)! The nicely shaped lips, delicate nose and well groomed eyebrows all combine to make me beautiful! I am, aren’t I? hehe I’ve added the ‘Sydney’ Catwa applier eye shadow from La Boheme. My lashes are from the ‘Natural 2 Eyelash Pack’ from .:Mai Bilavio:. and is from a gacha at Kustom 9, which runs until August 10. My eyes are one of the ten selections from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ from Zombie Suicide. The whole look starts with the Lilo bento mesh ehad from Catwa and the Lara mesh body from Maitreya.

I took advantage of Fifty Linden Friday yesterday and grabbed the Gwen hair from Wasabi Pills.

The Deep V Neck Tee, nude, is from Tres Blah..

The bento pose I’m using is from the ‘Pleasure With Pain B’ pose set from BODYLANGUAGE SLC.

I’m on the beach at the beautiful Salt Water sim for this picture.
