It's Labour Day

It’s unofficially official, it’s the end of summer today! Summer’s such a short season, it starts on the long weekend in May, which for us Canucks is called Victoria Day and ends on the first weekend in September, which is Labour Day. When I was younger it seemed that the summer was endless. But, as I’ve gotten older, time has sped up and this summer seemed to pass overnight. It just seems like yesterday was the end of April and I was planning the coming growing season, and here we are, already Labour Day and the weather forecast has a risk of frost here. I won’t be surprised if it does freeze, it’s not like this is early, our average first frost in this area is September 7, so we’re close to average. So, after a summer busy with all of the summer work I can now relax a little, and begin the fall work. It’s just as busy, but with winter getting closer, time is of the essence!

I hope everyone’s having a great long weekend, I’ve had a quiet one, which is just the way I like it. And now, on with the show.

I’m lounging on my deck today, and it was the perfect place to strike a pose! The pose here is from the ‘Steve’ set of bento poses from Animosity. The set has has 5 poses plus their mirrors and also a couple with 2 versions. It’s a very nice variety for the guy that’s in deep thought or at least pretending to be. 😀 Animosity has been releasing some incredible men’s poses, but you know me with poses…men’s…women’s…it doesn’t matter to me……I love them all!

I’m wearing the ‘Tess’ Romper from /erratic/ here. It’s exclusively for the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya and comes in a plethora of colours and prints, plus a fatpack. I chose the ‘camo’! It’s available now at the current round of ~uber~.

The ‘Pepper’ hair is one of my faves from [KoKoLoReS].

As per usual, I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘vivante’ tone from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya. I’ve added a touch of shadow from the ‘Sydney’ Catwa appliers from Le Boheme.

And as for my surroundings, you ask? Well, the ‘Maple Leaf’ flag, which I proudly display in my home, is from 7 Emporium. The two ‘Reiley Net Chairs’ are from Trompe Loeil. The ‘Sunflower Pitcher’ from {what next} helps to create the autumn atmosphere. The small coffee table is from the ‘Storyteller’s Burrow’ gacha set from 8f8. And the two cups of Latte are from a gacha set from Standby, for which I couldn’t find a land mark, I’m not sure if they’ve gone, but I couldn’t find them.

Tattoo You

It used to be only a certain type of person got a tattoo! It was the rebels and the bikers then, but it’s become very mainstream now and much more accepted by most people. I know there’s lots of people that frown on them still, but I’m not one of them. I will admit to having a couple of my own in real life. I’ve had them for quite a few years, and thankfully I put them in places where gravity won’t affect them too much. Gravity is a harsh mistress, you know! 😀 I have one on my ankle and one on my shoulder, both fairly small and covered most of the year. I sometimes forget I have them, really. One of my real life neighbours is quite covered in tattoos. I’ve not seen him without a shirt, but he has full sleeves and there’s tattoo peaking out of the neckline of his T shirt so he appears to be covered. So with him looking very much like what you’d think of as a biker or a rebel it was surprising the first time I talked to him. He never swears, he’s super polite, and always calls me dear, in a nice way. He doesn’t have a motorcycle, but he rebuilds old cars and is exceptionally good at it! But you know what I mean, he’s tattooed, he has big bushy hair down past the tops of his shoulders, his beard is a little longer than that and he has tattoos, so you’d think he’s the stereotypical rebel. But no, he’s just a nice guy living his life and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I hope one day someone needs it, I’d like to see how much of him is tattooed!

When I started my Second Life I fell in love pretty much right from the first with virtual tattoos. The quality of them has improved immensely since I was young in this virtual world and with the mesh bodies the detailing can be incredible! I’m so excited to see PIMP MY SHI!T back with new releases for the August round of the Bodyfy event. I’m wearing the Octo Tattoo in medium ink tone, although it comes in colour also and has three ink tones. It’s Omega and TMP compatible and can be worn on all layers. So happy to see PMS back in action!! Bodyfy runs until August 30.

The pose I’m using here is one of the five in the ‘Suri’ set of poses from Imitaion. I’ve always loved SL poses and Imitation is one of my favourite pose stores. The sets are all bento enabled and they’re so expressive and alive. I really think Bento hands have changed the way bloggers and photographers can create photos that really show emotion and bring their scenes to life. You can also find Imitation on Market Place.

The Chapter Four has always been one of my favourite SL events, and I’m so lucky to be able to feature all the incredible work by the designers who participate. I’m featuring some of the gacha items from the ‘Dark Oak’ gacha set from Bee Designs. The Arm Chair, Side Table, and the Poster are all part of the set which has eight common and two RARE to play for. The Chapter Four runs until the end of the month.

The rest of the items that make my home cozy are the ‘Filmore Factory Clock’ from 7 Emporium, the ‘Star Globe,RARE’ lamp from the ‘Vintage Lighting’ gacha set from ::Static:: and available at The Gacha Garden. The ‘Majestic Radio’ is from the ‘Vintage Radio’ gacha set from KraftWork. Each radio in the set has two versions, one scripted for use as a radio and one for decor only. The house plants on the left are from {what next}. The ‘Reading Pile’ of books is from a gacha set from Apple Fall and the books beside the chair are from [zerkalo].

And as for me? I’m wearing the ‘Candice’ set from [Azuchi]. It includes the panties and top, it comes in ten colours and is available at the current round of ~uber~. I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa along with the ‘Lara’ mesh body(including bento hands) from Maitreya. I’ve added a little bit of ‘Smoky Eyeshadow’ from Izzie’s to the look. My eyes are from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ pack from Zombie Suicide and the WAKANA hair is from Argrace.

5 Things I Learned the Hard Way

As I sit here, I’m thinking about all the times in my life that I’ve learned lessons. Sometimes you learn something because of the experience of someone else or just by reading. That poor stick man has taught me plenty of things, since he’s in peril wherever I go. You’d think he’d learn that the floor is slippery when wet or that he could fall if he climbs on something. But, that’s a whole different story! I’ve had to learn things the hard way to really grasp what could happen. So here goes, 5 things I’ve learned the hard way!

1) When a road sign says ‘No Exit’ it means there’s no exit’. Not a good thing to learn while driving an 18 wheeler.

2) If a cow doesn’t want her newborn calf touched, don’t touch it! The cow can run faster mad than I can scared.

3) When using an electric hedge trimmer, do not insert finger in the blade, it can cut, fingernail and all.

4) There’s a difference between a cat and a skunk, when you spot movement at your feet and it’s pitch black outside, don’t say, ‘Hi Gus’, and nudge him out of the way with your foot, unless you’re sure it’s your cat ‘Gus’ and not a skunk.

5) If a guy seems like a jerk when he’s your boyfriend, don’t marry him. He’ll be a jerk when he’s your husband, too! I should have listened to my gut!

Those are five things I’ve learned, by living through them. The scars are all faded now, well except for my finger, from the hedge trimmer incident! That still hurts, but it’s only been 4 days! 😀

And now, how bout some Second Life fashion!

I’ll start off with the ‘Delicate Tattoo’ from Queen of Ink. It’s truly delicate and so well placed, perfectly drawing the eye to nice shoulders and dècolletage. It’s compatible with the Maitreya, SLink and TMP mesh bodies as well as mesh bodies that are Omega enabled. There’s also system layers for the classic avatars. It comes with 2 ink tones, I’m wearing the 50% option. The ‘Delicate Tattoo’ can be found, for a few more days, at the July round of The Chapter Four, and it’s in the Hidden Room. So when you land at TCF just walk slowly backwards and let yourself free fall! 😀

Also in the Hidden Room at The Chapter Four is the Basement backdrop from Isuka. It has a land impact of 14 and is perfect for a grungy type atmosphere. The pop and ice machines are not part of it, but there is piping and the power box, along with some signage that is. It’s nice to be able to set up a great photo area right at home, where the lag is low and the rezzing is easy.

The ‘Sunset Shadow’ is a new release from Veechi and it’s available at the newly opened round of ~uber~. It’s Catwa(seen here) and Lelutka mesh head compatible and the pack contains nine colours, all vibrant and summery.

The ‘Juliet’ top from Scandalize is a cool and cute little top perfect for days like today, hot and sunny! It’s fitted for the SLink, Maitreya(seen here), and Belleza mesh bodies and comes in oodles of colours, or a fatpack to mix and match three different areas.

The ‘SHIRABE’ hair from Argrace is one of my faves. Short and perky = perfect for me.

My eyes are one of the ten colours in the ‘Nissa Eyes’ pack from Zombie Suicide.

You can see just a small part of my nails, but take my word for them being cute. They’re from the ‘Heart Hole, black’ nail applier set from PIAD. They’re SLink and Maitreya compatible.

The ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada looks simply divine on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the Lara mesh body from Maitreya.

The pose I’m using is from the ‘Avant Garde’ male pack of poses from XXY.

The pop and ice machines are both from 7 Emporium. The Ice machine is at the current round of ~uber~ and the Pop Machine is at the main store. Both are fully animated, the Pop Machine has eight animations and the Ice Machine has singles, couples and an adult version, too.
