Reading Priorities

Reading Priorities

I’m not a well read person, I must admit. I love to read, but I’m very aware that my choice of books is sometimes questionable. Oh, I believe all reading is good, to immerse myself in a story and forget about reality for a time is gloriously freeing, but I know there’s a ton of literature out there that’s well worth reading. I need to open myself up to reading something that takes me to places I’ve never been. I’ve been to Stephen King’s world many many times, I’ve read about murders, in true crime and in fiction, so many times that I’m amazed it doesn’t affect me in some way. I’ve read westerns where the fast gun has been romanticized over and over again. I read romances, the bodice rippers where the endings are always happy, and I’ve read Nicholas Sparks, never managing to not cry during it. But, I have to say I don’t read enough classics! I’ve not read anything by Hans Christian Andersen or Jack London……I’ve always meant to read Louissa May Alcott, Mark Twain, and J.D Salinger, but haven’t…yet. I should discipline myself and read even one classic for every 5 general fiction books I read, then maybe I’ll consider myself well read. I guess if one considers Dr. Seuss a classic author then yes, I’m very well read, because ‘Hop on Pop’ and ‘Horton Hears a Who’ should be considered classics!

I’ve talked about reading before, so you know I love to read, but this time I mention it because KraftWork is releasing the ‘James Joyce Library’ in the March round of Deco(c)rate, and this round is sure to be a great one! The theme for March is ‘Days in Dublin’ and if the teasers are any indication this is one I’ll be getting! But back to the library, it has a land impact of 14 when in it’s entirety, which includes the books and shelving, ladder, and lights. The lights are on/off on touch and the ladder has a reading animation, which I’m not using here, as you can tell. 🙂 The set includes each part individually or as a set to rez all at once, which I did for this. The textures are highly detailed with rich colours which makes a perfectly intimate reading area. The Deco(c)rate subscription box will be delivered March 8 at noon SLT, but you only have until midnight of March 7 to subscribe! You can find a kiosk at the KraftWork main store or at the Deco(c)rate Headquarters.

I chose to settle in and read a little bit here using the ‘Double Booked’ pose and pose props from the ‘Book Lovers’ set of pose/props from Le Poppycock. The props include books, book piles and cats….every library needs at least one cat!

As for my other clutter in the library? Well, it includes books, of course! The ‘books & tea’ beside me is from tarte and the tall pile of books to my left is a group gift from Nutmeg. The ‘Sepia Peonies’ are from NOMAD and the ‘hat boxes’, ‘Hello Billy-vase’ and the ‘rug’ are from gacha sets from Apt B. The ‘Bermuda Turntable’ is from .:revival:..

And for my outfit, I’m wearing the ‘boyfriend jeans, dark wash’ and the ‘Deep V Sweater, blushed’, both from fashionably dead. The ‘Vanilla’ hair is from [monso]. And, my look all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

You can also find me on my blog, What a Beautiful Mess!.

Wake Me Up

Wake Me Up

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I’ve become so numb
Without a soul my spirit’s sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
Before I come undone
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I’ve become

Now that I know what I’m without
You can’t just leave me
Breathe into me and make me real
Bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
Before I come undone
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I’ve become

Bring me to life
(I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside)
Bring me to life

Frozen inside without your touch
Without your love, darling
Only you are the life among the dead

All this time I can’t believe I couldn’t see
Kept in the dark but you were there in front of me
I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don’t let me die here
There must be something more
Bring me to life

(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside
(I can’t wake up)
Wake me up inside
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run
(I can’t wake up)
Before I come undone
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I’ve become

Bring me to life
(I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside)
Bring me to life

Please, visit the link and enjoy this song, it’s one of my favourites!

The first thing I want to talk about is the newest release from Galland Homes! This is the ‘Laurel Ridge Pavilion’ and the package includes the pavilion itself(16 LI), a planter, and some random firewood, plus it includes a snow roof, to make your winter landscaping look complete. There’s soft fire sounds, which is on/off on touch, to make it an intimate little area to spend time with your special someone, or all by yourself if you need that quiet space to recharge. The pavilion is available now at the ULTRA Event, which runs until December 8. For more pictures and information on this release check out Galland Homes on flickr.

I’m sitting on the ‘Cozy Corner’ from Mudhoney which is part of the November round of Deco(c)rate. It’s texture change with five colours, has a LI of 2, and includes 26 single, 14 PG couples, and 8 parent/child animations.

The ‘Transistor Radio TR-2A’ is from 7 Emporium and should be at the main store soon, if not already.

The ‘Salford Tray’, which has croissants and hot chocolate for two, is from the ‘Salford Set’ from Raindale. Also from Raindale is the ‘Forestholm cusions’.

The ‘I Love You Bouquet’ is from Boudoir.

The ‘Apple Fall & An Lar Toile Chair’ is from a gacha available at the Apple Fall main store.

The snowy meadow and berry thicket are from Kidd Landscapes.

My look all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, and available now at Appliquè, on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya. I’m wearing the ‘SAYAKA’ hair from Argrace and the ‘Cecilia thong and brassiere, in ivory, from /erratic/.

I’m using the ‘Thought Flood’ pose from Del May.

Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone?

Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone?

I may be the only one who thinks about these kinds of things, but it’s on my mind sometimes and want to share my thoughts on it. I recently lost a friend to cancer and on one of his last visits, he asked if we’d miss him! We said, of course! So why is it that us humans want to be remembered after we’re gone? Maybe we want to know that our life mattered, that our time spent on earth has been for something. But really, in the big scheme of things, and I mean the biggest scheme of things, nothing really matters. We live and we die and that’s what makes it so important during our lives to remember what’s important. To live fully! As time passes and I get older, one thought has kept coming back to me and I say this not for pity or sympathy, or to be whining, it’s just a fact! It’s that, having had no kids and probably outliving my parents, who will remember me? It’s a dark thought, and one that I don’t dwell on. I live happily, I have family and friends, and I’m doing what I love, so I have no regrets with how life has turned out. And in the long run, does it really matter? I’ll be cremated and spread on a piece of land, and time will march on!

Okay, so that’s a little dark for this fine Saturday morning! The sun is finally up and I have a hot coffee in front of me! Let’s get started on this look! First off, Wistful Mactavish of FLIPPANT has a new release out, it’s the Minnelli outfit, and it’s so cute! The dress, boots and scarf coordinate well to make a happy little seasonal outfit! They’re all controlled with one HUD, with four nice wintery designs to choose from! I feel perky!! 🙂

I wear the Alex mesh head from Logo and about the only makeup I ever wear is from Veechi! So, it’s always exciting to see a new release! I’m wearing two new releases here, from two different events! So pay attention here! lol The adorable Foiled Freckles are at Winter Solstice at the Mystic Realms. They’re compatible with classic avatars and Catwa mesh heads, along with any Omega compatible mesh heads! The pack consists of three designs of freckles in three colours! The Metallic Winged Liner is at Winter Trend SL 2016. These are Logo, Catwa, and Lelutka mesh head compatible plus system layers for the classic avatars! There’s nine colours in the set.

I used a pose from the Fashion Bloggers pack of poses from HelaMiyo! The set includes five poses and their mirrors.

The Sherilyn Hair (frizzy chic) is from Tableau Vivant.

The Boadicea’s Necklace in Bronze is from The Forge.

The Little Sheep Bag is from a previous round of The Arcade from =Zenith=!

As for my surroundings, the bed is from N4RS from the December round of Deco(c)rate. The Radiance Mirror in Dark is from Bokeh. The Tealights, not so safely burning on the floor, are from the Grand Holiday gacha set, available at On9 and by NEWCHURCH! The rug is from [zerkalo]. And lastly, I’m in the Eco Skybox, which is a group gift(fee to join group) from Cheeky Pea.

There’s No Such Thing as a Bad Gift!

There's No Such Thing as a Bad Gift!

I know you’re probably thinking…oh yea…what about that bad sweater that Aunt Betty gave me last year, or the gaudy lamp I got from my brother Len a few years back! Well, it may not be your first choice, but it was theirs! As long as a gift is given with love, who’s to judge what’s a good or bad gift. Although you may not need or even want it, at least thank them for their thoughtfulness, don’t judge them as a person by the gifts they give. I think too much emphasis is put on how much a gift costs or where it was purchased from, I like a gift that was made by the person, who took the time and energy to make something just for me. Or someone who spends time trying to find that one item that you lost and always wanted again. There’s no one that hasn’t given a gift that wasn’t wanted by the person receiving it, but it’s ok…..it’s the thought that was put into that gift that matters!

I’ve now set up three areas in my home with Christmas decorations! Even the barn has been decked out with Christmas finery! The barn usually sits with very little in it, so it’s nice to put it to use. It’s the Down on the Ranch Barn from Jian. It’s colour change and nice and roomy for that casual party you might want to host!.

I’ve set up a corner with a few of my favourite seasonal decorations, from a couple of my favourite creators! The Rustic Christmas Tree, Classic and the Rustic Wall Art are both from [QE] Designs and available at the main store. Both have multiple colour and design options via drop down menu, and are 100% mesh!!

And, Raindale has released an incredible variety of seasonal items including the winter vase, the Bright and Merry wall art, and string lights, just in time for Christmas! The lights come in the mirror(seen here), along with blinking, coloured, and colour change via HUD. All are available now at the December round of 2nd Level. While you’re there remember to grab the gift from Raindale….it’s the Tangerine Cake and little decorative string light with it. Also, there’s more, the candle is a gift at the Raindale main store…..so many gifts this time of year!

I’ve added the Warm Winter tray and puf from the Winter Warm set from Serenity Style that was part of the release for the December round of Deco(c)rate. I’ve been enjoying all the decorating the winter season brings!

Under all of this is the Simple Elegance Mesh Braided Manchester Rug from StoraxTree.

Pick Your Poison!

Pick Your Poison!

Anachron has released the Throwing Potions gacha for the Fantasy Gacha Carnival, which runs until December 7. This set is full of potions for different purposes and they can decorate your home, or you can throw them at whomever you wish! You must be in an area that allows rezzing, but after that just attach the potion of choice and bombs away!

The current round of The Gacha Garden is at the halfway point, so there’s still time to get some good gacha action in! lassitude & ennui has the Dragon Whelps gacha exclusive to the vent. The whelps can be companions or decor and the set contains eight commons and two rare(Albino,Rare seen here). And remember, after 20 plays on one machine you’ll receive the Seeds of Inspiration as a free gift, that will be retired after the close of The Gacha Garden! I’m wearing the Battleworn Boots in Bronze, also from lassitude & ennui, here!

The Dragon Scales Bra and Pants are from +Psycho Barbie+. The outfit also contains the Dragon Teeth necklace in four colours. The set is Omega mesh body compatible and classic avatar compatible.

I’ve dusted off the Sparrow hair from Hairoin, for this look! It’s an older hair and no longer available!

I’m wearing the Alex mesh head from Logo with the Irina skin in pale tone tome from itGirls. I also consist of the Lara mesh body from Maitreya and the casual hands from SLink.

Pose from Picture This, and no longer available!

I’m super excited about Deco(c)rate! It’s a monthly release from some of the best home and garden decor creators on the grid! I signed up for the November round and am really impressed with all of the items. I’m in the No Place of Ours Autumnal scene from 8f8! It’s a gorgeous little ruins with five singles and one couples pose included! I know I’ll be signing up for the next Deco(c)rate box of goodies, at 1500L$ each round it’s a great deal!
