Not All Clutter is Equal

I must admit to not being the best of housekeepers. I prefer being outside, so it gets a little bit neglected in the summer. When I think of clutter in my real life compared to my Second Life clutter, it’s like comparing apples to oranges. What I should do is recreate this photograph in real life! I do happen to have a cardboard box of books ready to go for donation, it’s waiting patiently! And believe it or not, my boots are even beside it, but they’re the boots I wear when I’m out doing animal things, so needless to say there’s a few things stuck on them that I’m sure no one wants to see. I do have a vintage radio I could set beside the boots, it’s red and still works. I don’t have a backpack though, although I could borrow one, but it’s probably almost worn out and in need of repairs. I have a couple houseplants, but the Hoya is really big and has grown into my window blind, so I can’t move it, but the Joshua Tree could sit beside the backpack, and it does look pretty good. I wonder how many Canadians have a Joshua Tree for a house plant? I’ll get one of my tea cups and saucers out to add to the collection, I love my jadeite in the ‘Alice’ pattern by Fire King! I do have a coat rack by my door, but it’s usually covered in hats, toques, and a chore coat. Anything that has the word ‘chore’ in it isn’t photograph material! Now, once it’s all gathered and placed I have to wait a week to get a light coating of dust on it, to make it look like the rest of the things in here! The trick will be getting a windlight for nice shadows, real life windlights just aren’t as good as SL’s!

I started out planning a blog post featuring the ‘Gideon Boots’ from NX-Nardcotix, but after many attempts at getting a pose I liked and an interesting angle I couldn’t seem to get it right and gave up and made them decor! A girl can’t wear her boots 24/7, even though she may want to! They fit the SLink, Maitreya, and Belleza mesh feet for the women and the feet for the men’s mesh body ‘David‘ also from NX-Nardoctix. Plus there’s an unrigged pair, so pretty much anyone can wear them. They come in 7 colours and are exclusive to Shoetopia! Also from NX-Nardcotix is the ‘Finley Backpack’! It’s rigged for the ‘David’ body and also comes unrigged and this one I’m showing is the ‘static’ version. It also comes in 7 colours of rich and smooth leather. The backpack is exclusive to Men Only Monthly, which runs until October 15.

Also shown here is the ‘Vintage Bakelite Radio’ from KraftWork, the ‘book pile, leather, brown’ from .:revival:., the ‘cardboard box with books’ from [bauwerk], the ‘coat rack’ and ‘firewood basket’ are from Dust Bunny, and the house plants from [what next]. Oh…and the tea cup is from the ‘hard to find set, mint’ from [keke].

I guess I better get working on my housework, maybe Monday! 😀

The Story of My Life

My story isn’t anything special, there’s no explosions or tender love stories. It’s not been like a Nicholas Sparks book, or a Stephen King novel either! It’s not been a fairy tale or anything like a true crime story. But, it’s mine……it’s my work in progress, my unfinished novel that hopefully takes many more years to complete. If each day of my life is a page in my novel, I have a few chapters done and included some footnotes to make it a little easier to follow. Maybe I should include a chronology of events so at least I can keep track, because over time it all kind of ends up in a jumbled mess. Luckily I have a few major events in my life that I can refer to reminiscing, and those chapters I’ll never forget. If my book is going to be made into a TV series those chapters would be the end of season cliffhangers, for sure. Everyone has a story and it’s not up to us to judge a person by what chapter we enter their lives at. I know I’ve had a few chapters that I’m sure most people would want to avoid. But, we all have those, and it’s times like that that the really good friends stick with us, and hopefully continue to! You know what they say about friends, the true friend is someone who knows all about you, but likes you anyway! At this point in my life I look back and know I’ve loved, cared, and shown compassion, I’ve learned and grown as a person, and I came through the bad times stronger. No chapter of my life has been in vain, it’s all happened for a reason. I don’t know what’ll happen in the remainder of my book, but I hope it has a happy ending.

OK……first off….the incredible new pose/prop set from Le Poppycock! This time of year I always look forward to the cooler weather so I can stay indoors and do some reading, and this set has completely put me in the mood for it! The ‘Book Lovers’ A & B’ pose/prop sets are incredibly well thought out. They have unique and interesting poses along with books and cats…who doesn’t want that? The books are texture change depending on what you feel like reading, today it’s a pulp fiction story about a nurse and her patient, hmmmm. *raises eyebrow* But anyway, there’s two books to choose from, both with multiple titles to choose from, and the cats are also colour change. I’ve always loved an orange or calico cat. This pose/prop set is available now at The Liaison Collaborative, which runs until the end of the month. Oh, btw, for anyone who loves books and reading the theme for this round is ‘Literary-ly Inspired’ so it’s a book lovers dream!

Also at The Liaison Collaborative is something every book lover needs! The ‘Bitterwood Bookshelf and Lamp’ are exclusive to TLC from Raindale and they both add a nice woodsy feel to a cabin or house. The bookshelf is loaded with books and the lamp’s shelf has some too, but the set does include a book free lamp, if you need somewhere to put your tea or coffee. Also from Raindale is the stack of 3 books in front of me, which is from the ‘Larimer Set’ and the ‘stack of books to the right, which is from the ‘Mauner Set’.

The chair, which has a huge stack of books beside it, and the little wagon with books in it are both from the ‘Storyteller’s Burrow’ gacha set from 8f8.

The house plants and the ‘Toasty Space Heater’ are both from {what next}.

The books to the left are the books from the ‘Bric-a-Brac Desk’ gacha set from aisling.

The award above the chair was given to me by a friend and I display it prominently at home to remind me! It’s the ‘Star of Fame/Best Photographer’ award from the ‘Star of Fame’ gacha set from Commoner. Thanks so much, Elle!

The carpet is the rug from the ‘Dark Oak’ gacha set from Bee Designs.

And last but definitely not least, is my cup of tea. It’s from the ‘hard to find vol.2’ set in mint, from keke. This cute set includes a bowl of lemons, with stacked bowls and also a full cup, a turned over cup, cream and sugar, and stacked cups.

And as for my outfit! The ‘Lazy Sweatshirt, Toronto, is from Stories&Co. by Flowey, the ‘Scrunched Sweats’ are from Tres Blah, the ‘SAYAKA’ hair is from Argrace, and ‘The Countess’ glasses are from Earthstones. As always, the ‘Luna’ skin in’miel’ tone is from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa, the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya, and the flat feet from SLink.

Century Farm

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the farm being in the family! I’ve lived here most of my life and can’t imagine living anywhere else! The ground I walk on holds the history of my family and it all tells a tale when I look around and remember the past. It’s all changed with time, my years here have seen changes, so I can’t imagine the memories my Mum must have now that she’s living in the house she grew up in. The actual farm yard is massive and takes more work than I have the energy to do most days, but I keep at it and try to make it the showcase it’s always been. My Granddad spent countless hours making it look it’s best, if for no other reason than pride in the work. The massive amount of trees to take care of is the one overwhelming job that I happen to be working on now. With 100 year old maples and row upon row of hedges, the maintenance is an ongoing job, but I work at it slowly and do what I can. I’m not sure what the future holds for the farm. I have no children and my sister doesn’t either, so this is probably the end of the line for it, at least as far as this family goes! But, things change and evolve and the one thing that never stops is time marching on!

I’ve created a little area here for me to take time to enjoy the garden and ponder life, just as my real life home has areas such as this! The latest group gift from KraftWork was the start of it and I just added things I’ve gathered up over time. The ‘Water on Tap’ hydrant set includes three rustic taps with varying degrees of aging, ranging from new to middle age and then the aged, which is seen here! It seems to have developed a drip, which I’ll have to get Dad to have a look at! ;D It has a land impact of 2 and is copy/mod! The group is 25L$ to join, which is a mere pittance when you see the incredible group gifts that are released regularly!

I’m going to do something I’ve never done before on my blog, and that’s listing the rest of the items in the scene in bullet form. This will save me some time so I can get out to tackle the work again this morning! 🙂

* also from KraftWork is the Bakelite Vintage Radio from the Vintage Radio Gacha set.

* the ‘Garden Retreat’ is from .:revival:.. I just adore their rustic and homey garden and home decor. Also from .:revival:. is the Book Pile, leather, which is part of a gacha set.

* I have quite a few things from hive// on display here. The ‘vintage garden hose cart, unravelled, the milking stool, country drum fan, and ‘Antiques’ sign are from various gacha sets.

* the Ukulele 3 is from the ‘Summer in the Sun’ gacha set, from Reign, it’s available til the end of the month at The Arcade.

* the ‘Overgrown Stacked Buckets’ and ‘Overgrown Grill, RARE’ are from nefarious inventions, which has closed but you’ll find their gacha sets available at the main store of Disorderly..

* the ‘Garden Gate’ behind the garden retreat is from [we’re CLOSED].

* the watering can is from the ‘Oh My Garden’ gacha set from Shine. I looked all over the main store to see if it was still available, but I couldn’t find a gacha. So I’m not sure if you can still get it.

* the ‘antique jug of flowers’ is from Amala.

* you can see a little bit of the ‘meadow grass’ from Raindale! This is the ‘summer, rich’ style and it’s so lush and green!

*the flip flops, black/white is from the ‘Poolside’ gacha set from Pilot and available til the end of the month at The Arcade.

* you can just see one corner of the ‘Huguette Bag’ from C’est la vie. It was the FLF items this past week.

Hot Child in the City

So young to be loose and on her own.
Young boys they all want to take her home.
When she comes downtown the boys all stop and stare.
When she comes downtown she walks like she just don’t care,
Yeah.

Hot child in the city,
Hot child in the city,
Runnin’ wild and lookin’ pretty,
Yeah,
Hot child in the city.

Hot Child In The City by ~Nick Gilder~

I am a country girl through and through….but I’ve spent time in larger cities too, though I’ve always felt a little out of my element! I don’t think I ever stood out as a country hick in the city…hopefully! I’ve been to most major US cities while I was on the road, except one! I never made it into New York City! I kind of regret that now…as I’d love to have seen it, but when I was offered a load of lumber into the inner part of NYC I was a little leery! I had been into inner Chicago with the big truck to make three pick ups and there was low bridges everywhere I turned, it seemed! You’ve probably seen pictures of a truck that’s over 13′ tall trying to get under a bridge that’s only 12′! It’s rather stressful navigating through those kinds of areas! So, I turned down the load to NYC to save myself that stress! One thing that saves me a whole lot of regret, though is knowing that I wouldn’t have seen Times Square or the Empire State Building…I’d have seen some grungy yard full of lumber in a not so favourable part of town! Which is what I mostly saw in all the other major cities I went to! So, NYC is still on my to-do list, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever get there! I haven’t traveled any further than one province over from my home province, in a lot of years! If I do get there though, I want to see a Rangers game in Madison Square Gardens, eat a hotdog on the street from one of the many vendors, and maybe even see where the Twin Towers were. Or maybe I could relive Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, now that would keep me busy!

While I’m on the subject of NYC, take a look at the new skybox from DaD Design! It’s called The Clock Loft skybox and it’s available at the current round of the U L T R A Event! It has a very reasonable land impact and includes an industrial shelf to add to the space. The shelf is copy/mod so you can make a whole bunch of them, if you like! The windows have seven scenes to choose from, all with different areas and lighting of NYC! Love it!

I’m wearing the September group gift(the group is free to join) from #bubbles here and it’s sexy! It’s the Luna Dress which has a lace upper and sheer skirt and it comes in fitted versions for the SLink, TMP, and Maitreya(seen here) mesh bodies and also includes fitmesh sizes! Underneath, I’ve added the High Waist Panties that also has all the same sizing as the dress! The panties are at a super low price!

The poses are from the Modern Condition A & B packs of poses from Le Poppycock! These sets, along with a the Heaven Scent couples pose, are available at the current round of The Chapter Four!

The gorgeous Flowers Tattoo is from Aurica Store! I love the bolero shaped tattoo that isn’t too dark and has lots of pretty flowers!

The Berta hair from Tableau Vivant is available at the current round of Collabor88!

And, as always, I’m wearing the Nelly mesh head from Genesis Labs, the Lara mesh body from Maitreya, and the casual hands and kittne feet from SLink!

As for my surroundings, the bed is the Upcycled Pallet Bed from tarte., which was part of the September Luxe Box. Also from tarte. is the Repurposed Shutter, which is on my right. On the bed is the Ragdoll Cow and Ragdoll Pig, which are from the Ragdoll Animals 2 Collection by !APHORISM!. Also on the bed is the Bric-a-Brac Desk-Phone, RARE from aisling. On my right is the Shoe Clutter, white from Garbaggio, the Greenwich Trunk from Scarlet Creative, and a nice bag, which holds items from O.M.E.N.

Me.........A Midnight Toker......Not!

‘Cause I’m a picker, I’m a grinner
I’m a lover and I’m a sinner
I play my music in the sun

I’m a joker, I’m a smoker
I’m a midnight toker
I get my lovin’ on the run

Steve Miller Band – The Joker

I’ve never tried smoking dope! Heck…I’ve never smoked anything! So when I saw this very cool hookah from DECOY, I actually had to ask what it was! Yea…I’m a little naive….but I think I could catch on quick! I’m only thinking about it here…..I didn’t want to end up getting busted for something that I’d never done before! The hookah is the RARE in the Power Up & Chill set available at The Gacha Garden, which runs until February 29! The set also contains some pretty necklaces and animated drinking glasses, that contain a very fun looking liquid!

As for what I’m wearing…the Staley Top is from Vinyl, the PJ Shorts, in pink, are from the paper arrow co., and the Boys & Girls 42 hair from Dura to top it off!

The Olivia skin in Milk tone is from .::WoW Skins::..

The the comfy seat I’m in is Watery Grass, from the Les Poufs gacha set from Ma Vie! It’s from a previous round of the Arcade Gacha Event!

Other furnishings are from Apple Fall, Surf & Co., dust bunny, and Zerkalo.
