The Hockey Game

Hello out there, we’re on the air, it’s ‘Hockey Night’ tonight.
Tension grows, the wistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps, and the players bump, and the fans all go insane.
Someone roars, “Bobby Scores!”, at the good ol’ Hockey Game.

:: CHORUS ::
OH! The good ol’ Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol’ Hockey game.

Second Period.

Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind.
But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and they’re down across the line.
They storm the crease, like bumble bees, they travel like a burning flame.
We see them slide, the puck inside, it’s a 1-1 hockey game.

(Chorus)

Third Period. Last game of the playoff too!

Oh take me where, the hockey players, face off down the rink.
And the Stanley Cup, is all filled up, for the champs who win the drink.
Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and the one gigantic scream.
“The puck is in! The home team wins!”, the good ol’ hockey game.

The Hockey Song‘ ~Stompin’ Tom Connors~

*muttering to myself* I got his favourite pizza I hope he appreciates this! And beer….gotta have beer with the pizza. I just hope he doesn’t go on and on like he usually does. Gawd I don’t know if I’ll be able to take it….Sidney this and Evgeni that! And if he says ‘threepeat’ one more time I’m going to lose it, seriously! Robert’s a great guy, I can’t deny that, it’s not his fault he lives where he does and has bad taste in hockey teams. Penguins…….who in hell is afraid of a Penguin! The only thing worse than a penguin would be a flamingo….yea…that’s what they should be….the Pittsburgh Flamingos..it has a ring to it! Then I could cover his lawn with plastic ones. I wonder if I can find plastic penguins…I doubt it. Who would want penguins on their lawn, but then again who wants plastic flamingos on their lawn, for that matter? Oh man, I hope the Caps can do it this time, I sure don’t need the same thing happening today as last game. Him standing over me with his finger just about jammed up my nose, yelling ‘In your face..!’ I never knew he was that intense….

Ok, so that’s complete and utter fiction! Oh, Robert Galland is a Pittsburgh Penguin fan, that’s true…but the rest is just silly! I’m on my way to his new and incredible house, the ‘Cape Hatteras’ by Galland Homes. I love it’s open floor plan with lots of windows but still wall space for that big screen TV or art work you may collect. The upstairs has a master suite and second bedroom plus a room for a nursery, bathroom or office! It’s available now at the ULTRA Event! For more pictures and information you can visit the Galland Homes Facebook page or see them in-world at the Main Store.

And as for the decorating? The ‘Summer Garden Planters’ are from {what next}. The ‘Gillian Schoolhouse Bench’ is from Trompe Loeil. The two pair of shoes are from the ‘Stockholm Bedroom’ set from ~BAZAR~.

My outfit consists of the ‘Lila Rolled Cuff Jeans’ from Blueberry and the ‘Basic Tank Top’ from Tres Blah along with the ‘Arianna Sneakers’ from REIGN.. My hair is ‘AKEMI’ by Argrace. My poses are a combination of 2 poses from Le Poppycock, with the most important one being from the ‘A Helping Hand’ set of poses, which made it so easy to carry the pizza.

What Hurts the Most

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that is not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doin’ it
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still harder, getting up, getting dressed, living with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

What Hurts the Most‘ ~Aaron Lewis~ written by Jeffrey Steele

Ok, so this has been a week of songs, and I have to say I’ve enjoyed matching a song to my mood and picture for each post. I’d like to continue to do that, but I’ll also continue writing, some days more than others. Oh, I still have thoughts and opinions, but there are times that I find it hard to put more than 3 words together and still make sense, so having a song do some of my talking for me is really quite a relief, but you guys have to promise to click on the link to the song and listen, because I have great taste in music(I think I do, anyway), and each song I pick is more than just a song. It represents something in me, whether now or in the past, it’s chosen for a reason. Part of me feels like I’m letting my readers down by adding a song to my posts, and I have no idea why I feel that way so strongly. I know no one expects me to have something creative and exciting to say every time, the people I know in real life sure as heck don’t expect much more from me most days than for me to nod and grunt a hello in their general direction, then be quiet for an hour while I struggle with the reality of having to be social. So, today enjoy Aaron Lewis with a tearjerker of a song, and oh….btw……just a warning…..if you’re expecting happy shiny songs……yea….you may be disappointed….rarely am I a happy and shiny type of person. 🙂

So, there’s a week left int he inaugural round of the ILLUMINATE event, so with that in mind get down there to have a look at the offerings from some of the grids most creative and imaginative home and decor stores. Galland Homes is there with the ‘Cape Hatteras Bedroom’ items. They’re all sold separately and the set includes the bookcase, small side table, and slip cover chair, which all goes perfectly with the ‘Cape Hatteras’ bed that’s available at the main store. The table, dresser and book case come in two colours to choose from and the slip cover chair has ten male and female sitting animations. The ILLUMINATE event runs until April 13.

I’ve added some home decor to make this a cozy little bedroom. The books in the bookcase are from Dutchie, as is the ‘Dutch Photo Collage’ on the wall to the left of the bookcase.

The art above the bed is ‘Marrakech’ in pastel by Silas Merlin.

The ‘Table Lamp’ on the side table on the right is from C L A Vv.

The books to the left of the chair is from Apple Fall and the books to the right are a group gift from Nutmeg.

The plant in the foreground is from Dust Bunny and the Rug is from Apt B.

I’m in one of the rooms of the ‘Tuscany Loft’ from DaD Designs. It’s one of my favourite skyboxes.

Reading Priorities

I’m not a well read person, I must admit. I love to read, but I’m very aware that my choice of books is sometimes questionable. Oh, I believe all reading is good, to immerse myself in a story and forget about reality for a time is gloriously freeing, but I know there’s a ton of literature out there that’s well worth reading. I need to open myself up to reading something that takes me to places I’ve never been. I’ve been to Stephen King’s world many many times, I’ve read about murders, in true crime and in fiction, so many times that I’m amazed it doesn’t affect me in some way. I’ve read westerns where the fast gun has been romanticized over and over again. I read romances, the bodice rippers where the endings are always happy, and I’ve read Nicholas Sparks, never managing to not cry during it. But, I have to say I don’t read enough classics! I’ve not read anything by Hans Christian Andersen or Jack London……I’ve always meant to read Louissa May Alcott, Mark Twain, and J.D Salinger, but haven’t…yet. I should discipline myself and read even one classic for every 5 general fiction books I read, then maybe I’ll consider myself well read. I guess if one considers Dr. Seuss a classic author then yes, I’m very well read, because ‘Hop on Pop’ and ‘Horton Hears a Who’ should be considered classics!

I’ve talked about reading before, so you know I love to read, but this time I mention it because KraftWork is releasing the ‘James Joyce Library’ in the March round of Deco(c)rate, and this round is sure to be a great one! The theme for March is ‘Days in Dublin’ and if the teasers are any indication this is one I’ll be getting! But back to the library, it has a land impact of 14 when in it’s entirety, which includes the books and shelving, ladder, and lights. The lights are on/off on touch and the ladder has a reading animation, which I’m not using here, as you can tell. 🙂 The set includes each part individually or as a set to rez all at once, which I did for this. The textures are highly detailed with rich colours which makes a perfectly intimate reading area. The Deco(c)rate subscription box will be delivered March 8 at noon SLT, but you only have until midnight of March 7 to subscribe! You can find a kiosk at the KraftWork main store or at the Deco(c)rate Headquarters.

I chose to settle in and read a little bit here using the ‘Double Booked’ pose and pose props from the ‘Book Lovers’ set of pose/props from Le Poppycock. The props include books, book piles and cats….every library needs at least one cat!

As for my other clutter in the library? Well, it includes books, of course! The ‘books & tea’ beside me is from tarte and the tall pile of books to my left is a group gift from Nutmeg. The ‘Sepia Peonies’ are from NOMAD and the ‘hat boxes’, ‘Hello Billy-vase’ and the ‘rug’ are from gacha sets from Apt B. The ‘Bermuda Turntable’ is from .:revival:..

And for my outfit, I’m wearing the ‘boyfriend jeans, dark wash’ and the ‘Deep V Sweater, blushed’, both from fashionably dead. The ‘Vanilla’ hair is from [monso]. And, my look all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

You can also find me on my blog, What a Beautiful Mess!.

It's Just Routine

I do things my way, and I don’t mean that in a weird arrogant way, I just mean that I have certain ways of doing things. Everyone does, I put my pants on starting with the right leg and others may do the left first, it’s just human. So, when it comes to bathroom habits, everyone is different, which has always made the sharing of a bathroom a tricky thing. Personally, I think it’s good to have to share, it forces people to get along and have patience and acceptance! I know, I know…..you’re saying, ‘how can anyone endure the trials of sharing the bathroom with someone who constantly leaves ‘his’ wet towels on the floor and the seat up’! Well, I’m not saying it’s easy, but you know, he could say ‘how come you always leave the seat down’ and ‘why is your make up spread all over the vanity all the time’. When sharing a bathroom, you have to allow the other person a little bit of room to live, we all have quirks and habits that could drive a person crazy! Except me, I’m quirk and habit free, it’s just too bad no one lives with me to experience it!

So, I’m standing at the sink here, just doing my before bed routine. I start with tooth brushing then face and hand washing, then hair brushing……and a quick tooth flossing. I don’t look too long in the mirror before bed, I don’t want to bring on nightmares, you know. 😀 In Second Life it’s getting easier and easier to replicate real life, with all the little things designers create to make our SL as life like as possible. Galland Homes has released the ‘Savannah Bath Vanity and Light Fixture’ exclusive to the January round of the ULTRA Event. The 100% mesh vanity(8LI) features dual copper sinks with working faucets(on touch), PG animations, and a four light copper light fixture(3LI). It’s sleek design can work with lots of different styles and is fully functional to make your virtual bathroom routine just a little bit easier. ULTRA runs until February 10.

As you can see, living alone has made me a little bit lazy when it comes to picking up after myself. I have a ton of stuff strewn around that really should be taken care of. I’ll start with the mirrors, these are from the ‘Southern Elegant Bathroom Set’ from a previous round of Deco(c)rate from [Merak].

I did a bit of shopping at Dutchie Furniture before putting this scene together! I splurged(big time) on the ‘Iron Cast Bain de Bateau’, which is a bath tub in layman’s terms, and it’s got all the bells and whistles any good bath tub should have. Also from Dutchie is the towel on the floor, hanging robe, tissue box, scale, and the wicker laundry basket/towel. They have a nice selection of bathroom clutter, if you’re in the market.

The ‘nail polish clutter’ is from a gacha from Tres Blah, as is the ‘Slumber Party Tank & Shorts’ that I’m wearing to bed.

The dress, bra, and panties all over the floor are from the ‘Z-tease’ gacha set from [zerkalo] and available now at The Epiphany.

The ‘Long Narrow Frames, monochrome’ are from Llorisen.

The ‘Dress Form’ is from a gacha set from Apple Fall.

The ‘Accent Gilt Chair’ is from Nutmeg.

The ‘Farm Living Rug’ is from the ‘Farm Living Gacha aset’ from Apt B.

The rest of my look is the ‘My Hair-Suzy’ from [monso], and the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada. It all starts with the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa, the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya, and the Deluxe set of mesh feet from SLink.

When All Else Fails..........

………hug the dog!

It’s a cure all for what ails you. Well, not for everything, but for matters of the mind or heart dog hugging is recommended by 8 out of 10 doctors. The other 2 doctors say ‘hug the cat’! I’ve always been one of those people that won’t go to other people for comfort, it’s always been an animal who understands me best. When I had cows, that’s where I went because my life always seemed better when I was with them. They accepted me completely, they were always happy to see me, and they could calm me down like nothing else. Some of you may laugh that my pet of choice has always been a cow, but anything can be a pet, mine were always just a bit bigger than most peoples. I have chickens I could go hug, but I’m not sure they’d be open to that, although I’m sure they’d get used to it if I do it enough. As they are now, they’re happiest just doing their chicken things. So, that leaves me with either the cats or the dog to hug. I like the cats, but none of them are really the hugging type, Hazel likes to just sit on my knee, Bob only likes to be petted, and poor stray Nipper, well…I can’t touch him….yet….but he’s getting much quieter. So….I guess the dog it is! I liked having a large dog for this, I could get on my knees and wrap my arms around them and rest my head on their shoulders, but since I only have my little girl, I have to pick her up and squeeze her tight against me. She doesn’t mind luckily, she’s a snuggly little thing, all 12 lbs of her. I sometimes wonder if people with significant others still have to resort to the dog for hugs, I’d like to think their partner would be the hugger of choice, but I guess there’d be times that the dog isn’t the one a person is fighting with at some point. I think the dog would be my second choice for hugs no matter what, if the dog wasn’t my only choice! 🙂

I’m a little sad today, it’s another cloudy day and life is just kind of a downer right now. But, Second Life always cheers me up….even if it’s just a little bit. I want to bring your attention to the current round of ~uber~, which ends on December 23. I know it’s getting to be near the end of the round, but the ‘Pied-a-Tere’ skybox from KraftWork is there, and it’s well worth dropping in to grab it! It’s an adorable little skybox, perfect for one or two people to live comfortably in one room. I prefer a one room build, myself, it’s a nice open floor plan and with a few privacy screens or even just using rugs, little separate areas can be created. The ‘Pied-a-Tere’ has a LI of 58 and a foot print of 15X15m, and the view outside is a very pretty one. It’s HUD driven with texture change on all the major parts so you can customize and make it your cozy little home. Also from KraftWork is the ‘Easy Like Sunday Morning’ sign, which comes in a blinking and non blinking version.

The majority of the decorating in my little home is from the ‘Stockholm Bedroom‘ from ~BAZAR~. It’s a huge bedroom set including the bed(with lots and lots of adult or PG animations, whichever you prefer), chairs, lights artwork, cabinet, candle bottles, men’s and women’s clothes racks, stacks of books, rug, bicycle decor, night stands, clock, headphones, paper bag, men’s and women’s shoe decor, and typewriter. It really is an incredible set and very reasonably priced.

I’ve added house plants from {what next} and dust bunny.

The ‘ROCK’ sign is from a gacha set from .:revival:..

The ‘vintage radio’ is from the ‘Summer is Gone’ gacha set from ..::THOR::...

The ‘old radiator’ is from .junk. but I don’t think it’s available any more.

I’m wearing the ‘Sophia Bustier & Draped Dress from Asteria. The ‘NO.SHELTER hair from NO.MATCH. And as always, the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

I’m in deep thought using the ‘weary’ pose from Del May.

I’ve added a bit of lighting from my much used LumiPro.
