Friday Fun

So, after getting through a rough couple weeks, I’m ready for some Friday Fun! And what exactly is Friday Fun, you ask? Well, it could be anything, really! For me, it’s just finding a little bit of peace, after some pretty stressful days. So, since I did retail therapy during those trying times, I’m not going shopping. I took in quite a few live shows in the last few evenings, so I might do that again this evening. Heck, I think I’ll even stay up later than normal, and although I’d love to have a few Caesars, they’ll have to be virgin since I don’t drink! But that’s doable….I have what I need for them and I can pretend I’m getting drunk. I can slur my words, wobble when I walk and since I’ll be in world but alone in RL, I can hug random people in-world and tell them how much they mean to me, even if I don’t know them! I try to have fun in Second Life no matter what’s going on in my real life, and I think that’s most important! Why would I bring any unhappiness in-world with me, when I can be and do anything I want while I’m here. It’s not always easy when bad things are happening in life, but even the smallest bit of enjoyment can be an improvement over reality. So, get out there and have some fun, doing whatever floats your boat! πŸ˜€

I’ve been sitting at the bus stop for awhile, just reading and getting a cold butt, but hopefully the bus is coming along any minute and I can get where I need to be. I’m sitting at the ‘Urban Bus Stop Scene’ from the ‘Bus Stop props and scenes’ gacha from KraftWork, and available now on the one and only HUD driven gacha, PocketGacha! The set includes 6 common and 1 rare, all with lots of ways to customize! The January round of PocketGacha runs until the end of the month!

The book and sitting pose are part of the ‘Book Lovers’ set of props and poses from Le Poppycock. I’ve used this set before and it’s so versatile. There’s books and cats for props, but unless a stray cat comes around I thought it unlikely I’d be petting one here!

My outfit for this little outing is the incredible ‘Leather Jacket & Sweater’ from fame femme! This is the Black version of the jacket and can be worn with or without the sweater, which is HUD driven with 11 really pretty colours.

The ‘DWL Jeans, classic, skinny’ are from Blueberry.

I know you can only see enough of the boots I’m wearing to know that I have some on, they are the versatile ‘Tactical Flip Boots’ from [VALE KOER].

The ‘WAKANA’ hair is from Argrace, it’s one of my all time faves!

I started with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

When All Else Fails..........

………hug the dog!

It’s a cure all for what ails you. Well, not for everything, but for matters of the mind or heart dog hugging is recommended by 8 out of 10 doctors. The other 2 doctors say ‘hug the cat’! I’ve always been one of those people that won’t go to other people for comfort, it’s always been an animal who understands me best. When I had cows, that’s where I went because my life always seemed better when I was with them. They accepted me completely, they were always happy to see me, and they could calm me down like nothing else. Some of you may laugh that my pet of choice has always been a cow, but anything can be a pet, mine were always just a bit bigger than most peoples. I have chickens I could go hug, but I’m not sure they’d be open to that, although I’m sure they’d get used to it if I do it enough. As they are now, they’re happiest just doing their chicken things. So, that leaves me with either the cats or the dog to hug. I like the cats, but none of them are really the hugging type, Hazel likes to just sit on my knee, Bob only likes to be petted, and poor stray Nipper, well…I can’t touch him….yet….but he’s getting much quieter. So….I guess the dog it is! I liked having a large dog for this, I could get on my knees and wrap my arms around them and rest my head on their shoulders, but since I only have my little girl, I have to pick her up and squeeze her tight against me. She doesn’t mind luckily, she’s a snuggly little thing, all 12 lbs of her. I sometimes wonder if people with significant others still have to resort to the dog for hugs, I’d like to think their partner would be the hugger of choice, but I guess there’d be times that the dog isn’t the one a person is fighting with at some point. I think the dog would be my second choice for hugs no matter what, if the dog wasn’t my only choice! πŸ™‚

I’m a little sad today, it’s another cloudy day and life is just kind of a downer right now. But, Second Life always cheers me up….even if it’s just a little bit. I want to bring your attention to the current round of ~uber~, which ends on December 23. I know it’s getting to be near the end of the round, but the ‘Pied-a-Tere’ skybox from KraftWork is there, and it’s well worth dropping in to grab it! It’s an adorable little skybox, perfect for one or two people to live comfortably in one room. I prefer a one room build, myself, it’s a nice open floor plan and with a few privacy screens or even just using rugs, little separate areas can be created. The ‘Pied-a-Tere’ has a LI of 58 and a foot print of 15X15m, and the view outside is a very pretty one. It’s HUD driven with texture change on all the major parts so you can customize and make it your cozy little home. Also from KraftWork is the ‘Easy Like Sunday Morning’ sign, which comes in a blinking and non blinking version.

The majority of the decorating in my little home is from the ‘Stockholm Bedroom‘ from ~BAZAR~. It’s a huge bedroom set including the bed(with lots and lots of adult or PG animations, whichever you prefer), chairs, lights artwork, cabinet, candle bottles, men’s and women’s clothes racks, stacks of books, rug, bicycle decor, night stands, clock, headphones, paper bag, men’s and women’s shoe decor, and typewriter. It really is an incredible set and very reasonably priced.

I’ve added house plants from {what next} and dust bunny.

The ‘ROCK’ sign is from a gacha set from .:revival:..

The ‘vintage radio’ is from the ‘Summer is Gone’ gacha set from ..::THOR::...

The ‘old radiator’ is from .junk. but I don’t think it’s available any more.

I’m wearing the ‘Sophia Bustier & Draped Dress from Asteria. The ‘NO.SHELTER hair from NO.MATCH. And as always, the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

I’m in deep thought using the ‘weary’ pose from Del May.

I’ve added a bit of lighting from my much used LumiPro.

The Beat

There’s a song for every moment in my life, whatever my mood or what’s happening there’s a beat that’s in time with mt heart. I close my eyes, and feel the music, everything about it, from the lyrics to the tempo, whether it’s a soft song full of melody or the driving base of hard rock. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to create that music, I think I’d write a lot of slow sad songs, full of heartbreak and pain. Some would have hope, because I’m not without hope, and some would be angry, with a touch of sarcasm thrown in. I’ve never been a truly creative person, I’ve always felt like it’s in me, but I’ve never found a way to express it. It’s funny how Second Life has given me the opportunity to express some of my feelings, I’m not a painter or writer, I can’t play an instrument or sing, but I like to express myself through Liz, and maybe share a few of my thoughts, I’m not a wizard at SL photography or a future Pulitzer prize winning writer, but I always put a little bit of my heart into it.

Today it’s all about tattoos! I love virtual tattoos, you can take them off whenever you want and change them all the time. Not like real life where once you get it, it’s there for a lifetime! I’m sure there are many with regrets about the tattoos they have! I don’t regret mine at all, they’re not very big and I can cover them easily. I’ll leave it at that! Metamorphoses has released ‘Corfu’, a gorgeous floral and foliage design that covers the body nicely, and with both black and white included in the pack, it can compliment anything you might be wearing…….even if it’s only your Birthday suit! You can find ‘Corfu’ at the Metamorphoses main store.

And as for the rest of me? Well, I’m wearing the thong from the ‘Cecilia Lingerie, plum’ set from /erratic/. My hair is ‘Indy’ from Mina Hair and is available now at the Women’s Hipster Event. You’re seeing the backside of the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada and available at the current round of APPLIQUÈ. The sunset is casting a bit of a glow to it, so it’s not a very accurate depiction of it here.

I’m at home here, so you’re seeing a little corner of my life. I enjoy the soft sounds of music from the ‘Big Broadcast Radio, RARE’ from the ‘Vintage Radios’ gacha set from KraftWork. Each radio in the set comes with two versions, one scripted to play music and another for decor purposes only.

The ‘Cat’ is from the ‘Catz’ gacha set from Silas Merlin. You can play this gacha and others for some totally unique artwork, at The Silas Gallery.

The stool with blankets is from the ‘Black Roof Gacha ASet {3}’ from Haikei. And the ‘Himalayan Salt Lamp’ beside it is from the ‘Rainy Days’ gacha set from Ariskea. The ‘Agave’ house plant is from {what next} and the window blind is from a gacha st from Scarlet Creative.

‘The Beat’ neon sign is from the ‘Music is Life’ gacha set from [zerkalo].

The pose is from the ‘Sweet Stuff’ set of poses from Le Poppycock.

Corner Gas

In my part of Canada there’s a corner gas station in most small towns along the vast miles of highways in the province. The TV show ‘Corner Gas‘ was a really cute Canadian show that went for 6 seasons and was filmed mostly in a small town in the south end of the province. I enjoyed it…it had a quirky sense of humour and depicted any rural town in the country, but most notably the prairies. There were quite a few guest stars in it during it’s run, the one I remember best is The Tragically Hip as the local garage band. I had driven past the main outdoor set many times in my travels, but sadly The Ruby and the gas station connected to it were demolished in 2016 and the town grocery store, the FOO MAR T, was lost to fire in 2014. The grain elevator still stands, with the town’s name ‘Dog River’ painted on it, which is in fact the fictional name of the town. Normally us Canadians rely solely on the US for our entertainment, but ‘Corner Gas’ was a show made entirely here that was really fairly successful. I enjoyed seeing how we, as Canadians and prairie folk, were depicted. Since I’ve lived near a couple of small towns for most of my life, the fact is, every small town does have the characters in the show. That’s what makes any community so interesting…..the characters!

Today, I’m waiting in the late evening for my shift to end, just killing time hoping no other cars pull up for gas. I don’t mind pumping gas….there’s lots of fresh air and it’s a fairly mundane job! If only there was no public involved…but then again any kind of retail work relies on the public. But, with my cooler full of beverages and the radio playing all the old classic rock I love, the setting sun casts wonderful shadows and it’s nice just to sit here and be at peace. The feature today is the ‘Gas Station’ from KraftWork and available now at FaMESHed. I’ve kept my surroundings simple to help focus on what’s part of the ‘Gas Station’ and to show what potential there is. After all the ruckus of the October round FaMESHed, this is in a new venue and I have to say I was one of the minority who really liked the build from October. The lag was no worse than any other busy event and although not as easy to shop, it was a really stunning creation. I felt bad for the builders and the entire FaMESHed group, they didn’t deserve the backlash they received. In my humble opinion, anyway! Anyway, about this incredible build from NODNOL Jameson of KraftWork. It has a land impact of 70 and a footprint of 23X22m. It’s highly detailed with an incredible amount of potential to make your corner gas station as realistic as possible. The entire station is in one piece to make placing and moving it so easy and it’s perfectly designed to make recreating real life fun! The two bay garage and gas lanes are sized to fit cars and trucks and the store is big enough to carry all of the convenience store goods. FaMESHed runs until November 27, which sounds like a long way away, but time flies….especially if you’re having Second Life fun. πŸ™‚ Also from KraftWork is the ‘Majestic Radio’ from the ‘Vintage Radio’ gacha set. It comes with a decor only version and a version scripted to play your favourite station.

The ‘Lawn Chair – Yellow’ and ‘Cooler, red’ are from the ‘Open Road’ gacha set from Consignment. I have to admit that I have no idea if there’s anything in the cooler….but if there is I’ll be happy to share!

And as for my outfit? I’m wearing the ‘Relaxed Blouse’ from Tres Blah and the ‘Soft Stretch Jeans, smoke blue’ from the ‘Mini Jacket and Jeans’ gacha set from Mikunch and available now at SaNaRae. The ‘Gentleman’s Sunglasses’ are from Izzie’s. and the ‘USAGI Trainers’ from [Vale Koer].

The ‘Jisun’ hair is from [monso] and available at FaMESHed.

It all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, which should be released shortly, I’ll be the first to know…so keep watching for the date! It’s on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

Recurring Dreams

I’ve always had vivid dreams and through the years I go through recurring dreams that just never seem to stop. I’ve been having this one dream for about 3 years now and I’m not sure if I’m supposed to learn from it or anything, but it seems like I’m not getting the hint if there is one. It all starts with taking a trip somewhere, sometimes I fly, sometimes a bus, and one time it was even in a space ship, I think I watch Ancient Aliens too much! πŸ™‚ So anyway, I’ve gone on this trip and stayed there an undetermined amount of time and as I’m preparing to go back home I realize that I have too much stuff to fit in my luggage. I try to pack up my belongings in the hotel room or wherever I’m staying and I can’t fit it all in. And the bags I brought with me in the first place were too many as it was. I feel this panic inside that I can’t take all my belongings with me and then the panic that if I do get it all packed I’ll never be able to carry it all, which then leads to the worry of being late for my flight or ride or whatever. When I first started having this dream I woke up all sweaty and panicked like it was a life threatening disaster, now I wake up from it just a little unsettled, I think I must be getting used to it. This isn’t the first recurring dream I’ve had for an extended period of time. Back when I was on the road I had a recurring dream about two or three times a week. It was about me losing my teeth….now, I’ll understand if you laugh at that, but it was a weird thing to have happen that often. In the dream I’d put my hands under my mouth and try to catch the teeth as they dropped out. It went on for about a year and then out of the blue, it stopped. I am a believer that dreams are your subconscious trying to tell you something, so I had done some reading on the subject and found out that this dream means that there is something going on in your life that needs fixing, that the status quo isn’t right. Well, when I read that it all made sense. I wasn’t where I was meant to be and once a few major things changed in my life the dreams of my teeth falling out had gone away. So I’m not sure what this one is telling me, but I wish I could just learn my lesson and move on!

So, I’m sitting here on a train platform in Germany with way too much baggage to carry and I had to leave some of my things behind, needless to say it’s like a bad dream! INDUSTRIE is a new event in Second Life and it’s one that I was looking forward to for quite awhile leading up to it. KraftWork is one of the sponsors of it and they have released the U Bahn Backdrops gacha set. This is a set of fictional German train station backdrops, signage and benches and it’s a really neat set. There’s 12 common and one RARE to play for. I’m using the ‘Tramhaltestelle Bahnhof’ backdrop with dark benches and the ‘Meine Fantasie XXX’ sign. INDUSTRIE runs until October 23.

I looked far and wide to gather up the luggage here! I’ll start with the far left, the ‘Travel Luggage’ from ::Tartessos Arts::Furniture is in the back and the ‘suitcase’ is fron is from the ‘Adalyne Autumn Collection from Serenity Style and available at the current round of Tres Chic. Underneath the suitcase is the trunk that holds the ‘Vintage Suitcase’ stack from {what next} which is sitting two seats to the right of me. The ‘hat box’ is from a gacha from Apple Fall, as is the ‘worn suitcase’ behind it, the ‘plaid suitcase’ on the floor in front and the other ‘worn suitcase’ to the right of me on the floor. The large trunk right beside me with the hat box on it is from the ‘Lazy Weekend’ gacha set from ::THOR::. The bag at my feet is the ‘Travel Bag, another version’ from a gacha set that I coudn’t find at the fame femme main store. So I’m not sure if it’s still available.

The pillows are from the ‘Slumber Party’ gacha set from Tres Blah.

And as for my comfortable travelling outfit? It starts with the ‘Laura Sweater’ from erratic. I put one of the six colours of ‘Ribbed Knit Leggings’ from Simply Sage on since I’ll be doing lots of sitting on this trip. The ‘Gideon Boots’ are from NX-Nardcotix and exclusive to Shoetopia. The ‘Arwen Hair’ is from Mina Hair. As always I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

And last but not least….the pose! This is a pose from the ‘School Days’ sets A & B from Le Poppycock. The set is actually a pose/prop set with school desks and other education paraphernalia attachments to make yourself young again and goofing off in class. It’s available at the ULTRA event until October 8.
