You Just Never Know What You'll See!

Have you ever wondered what goes on outside overnight? I don’t know about anyone else, but once it’s dark outside, there could be any number of things going on out there! Usually things that I’d rather not know about, like an ax murderer, aliens, or worst of all….ghosts! But, I had the bright idea a year or so ago to get a trail cam to set up in the yard to capture anything that might be wandering through. My one fear is that I’ll see something that I’d rather not know about, but so far…so good! There’s usually a deer or two, a skunk or three, or a coyote. Oh….and the odd stray cat, and sometimes a raccoon or a bunny. The coyotes are the ones I hate to see, they’ve become so brave in around the yard that it’s a little disconcerting to see them casually walk around. A couple evenings ago I stepped out onto my step and came face to face with one about 30 feet from me. He didn’t run or get scared, he just stood and stared at me. I have no doubt he was on his way to see if there was a chicken out to steal, so I tried to scare him into running away, but he just loped off a little bit and then stood looking at me again. There are guns on the premises, but I really hate guns, so needless to say the worst I could do was tell him to Eff off and try to look scary, which some people would say comes naturally to me! 😛 This morning it was a whole new ball game though……there on the camera, was a big old horse…just wandering around in the dark( I don’t have horses at the moment), and behind it….following along was a little horse! I knew whose they were once the little one showed itself, so it was just a matter of waiting for daylight and scouting around so I could tell the neighbour where he could find them. They had moved on up the field to the north and were heading east when I found them. So, if the scariest thing I capture on the camera is a little bit of wildlife or a farm animal or two…that’s fine…it’s those 2 legged monsters I really don’t want to see out there, skulking around in the dark!

There’s something in my front yard here that I’d be really shocked to see! The ‘Wicked Legs’ from {MYNX} are exclusive to the October round of The Chapter Four and add a really nice touch to your Halloween decorating! They’re 100% original mesh and they’re copy/modify so you can adjust the thigh shadows to where you need them. The Chapter Four runs until the end of the month!

October is full of Halloween events and goings on, and [QE] Designs is in a couple of them with some seasonal decor! I’m showing the ‘Wire Punkin Set’ here, which includes 4 styles of wire pumpkins and lots of options! They’re colour change via drop down menu with six colours for the pumpkin, 4 stem colours and 5 light colours. These are exclusive to the Mad Circus 3 Halloween & Gacha Fair, which runs until October 31. Also from [QE] Designs is the ‘Fall Punkin Set v2’, which includes 4 shapes with 8 colours each via drop down menu. They’re copy/mod so you can cover your whole yard in pumpkins if you want! These are available at Trick or Treat Lane, which opens today and runs until November 3, as well as Mad Circus 3.

Another event for October to be on the lookout for is Season of the Witch! It starts tomorrow(October 14) and runs until November 4, and Raindale has the ‘Charfell Cabin’ exclusive to the event. This cute cabin has a footprint of 10X15 and a land impact of 40, and it’s modifiable to be resized as needed. It comes on a platform(23X23 footprint and 8 land impact) which is HUD driven with 5 grass textures, and it can be removed if needed! I’m using it here! The cabin is scripted with the Kool Door system so you can limit access. This cabin has a really unique roof line and some great accents, so if you want to get a full view you can check out Keira’s flickr site!

I’ve used the chairs from ‘Kate’s Vintage Chairs’ from Nutmeg, which is a set of six chairs, all with really unique shapes and detailing.

The ‘Deathly Tree, orange lights’ is from Refuge and available now at Salem. It’s in a gothic style stone urn with two ravens standing at it’s base. The lights can be set to blink or to stay on.

You can’t see them well, but I’ve added the ‘Black Baby Birds’ from +Half-Deer+ on the step of the cabin. These are cute little black chicks that come with various groupings and also singles, plus some wearable ones too! These are also at Salem.

I’m using grasses from Raindale and Kidd Grass here.

Pumpkin Spice Everything!

I’m not sure when it happened, but it now seems that every time I turn around there’s something made with pumpkin spice. I get it, I really do….I love pumpkin spice as much as the next guy, but I think it’s gone overboard a little bit.The muffin is most basic, I’ve been making pumpkin spice muffins or loaf cakes for years, and the amount of pumpkin that’s grown hair in my fridge from not using the rest of the can is infinite! I always buy the biiiig can of pumpkin and take what I need out of it then refrigerate the rest and promise to make something else in the few days after. By about Christmas while I’m looking for the cream cheese I stumble upon an orange and green fur ball way in the back on the second shelf down. It’s never seen humans so it’s a little shy, but I get on my knees and coax it out, and then ponder how time flies and it seems like yesterday I put it in there. I’ve noticed that Pumpkin Spice Lattes seem to be a big thing now. I’m not really in to lattes, and even the temptation of this flavour does nothing for me, but after searching pumpkin spice recipes on pinterest it seems that pumpkin spice latte is now a flavour on it’s own. I see pumpkin spice latte oatmeal porridge, pumpkin spice latte biscotti, and believe it or not pumpkin spice latte jello shots! Just because pumpkin spice is ‘in’ this time of year doesn’t mean it should be a flavour for anything that can be cooked, baked, or concocted. I see a recipe for Pumpkin Spice face scrub, wtf! 😀 I do enjoy fall and all that comes with it, but I’ll stick with the traditional pumpkin spice recipes like muffins, cake, loaf cake, cheesecake, pancakes, cinnamon buns, cookies, bars, bundt cake, ice cream, cupcakes, martinis, doughnuts, waffles, popcorn, soup, scones, truffles, tiramisu, caramels, and fudge! If you have any pumpkin spice recipes, I’d love to see them!

So, what’s all this talk about pumpkins, well, Raindale has created the ‘Bright October’ gacha set for the October round of The Avenue. There’s been some changes to The Avenue including a new site and a new format. Now, all releases in the event will be all new and exclusive by some of Second Life’s incredible creators. This gacha set includes 7 commons(no rares) and all are perfect for fall decorating inside and out. I’m showing them all here if you look closely. The broom, candles, various pumpkins, frames on the little shack, and the apple candles make up this set and it’s this kind of gacha set that I never mind getting extras, there’s always room for another pumpkin! The Avenue runs until October 20.

The adorable ‘Sanderson Shack’ from Bad Unicorn was in the October round of Deco[c]rate and it’s really something. The shape and the details make this a perfect little hideaway, kinda like the Love Shack!

The big spooky tree to the right and the ravens are all from the ‘Raven Collection’ from Jian. The set includes ravens that wander, circle above, perch, and also accompany you around while on your shoulder, or wherever you choose to put him! The set is available now at Salem which runs until October 31.

The ‘Chippendale’ and ‘Thonet’ chairs are from Nutmeg and part of Kate’s Vintage Chairs set.

The sculpture of the tree to the left of the door is from the ‘Forgotten Garden’ gacha set from Silas Merlin. I love his work!

The pathway I’m using is from the ‘Garden Path, rustic’ set from DJ/SF, which is a collaboration between the fine creators of Decor Junction and Shutter Field. The pack includes short and long pathways and also 2 types of curves and a set of steps.

The fence in the background is the ‘Aegeas Country Fence’ from Serenity Style, and the pack includes a length of fence plus a two piece gate and posts. You can create any size or shape of fence that you like with this!

The small patch of corn is an older release from The Little Branch.

The grasses I’ve used are the ‘Meadow Grass, dry and summer, rich’ from Raindale and the ‘Sword Grass, tall’ from Kidd Creation.

The trees are ‘Aspen’, ‘Linden’ and ‘Aspen underbrush’ all from Botanical.

Oh, one more thing, the little pile of firewood beside the shack is part of it, which you’ll need with winter on it’s way! 🙂

October

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

~L.M. Montgomery~ Anne of Green Gables

I live in the prairies which I’m sure everyone assumes is bleak, flat, and unexciting. Sure, we don’t have a leafing season like parts of Ontario does, but it’s pretty here in the fall, nonetheless. I’m in a fairly rolling area with trees sprinkled throughout, the trees being mainly quaking aspens. I just call them poplars, but no matter the name, they are pretty this time of year. The leaves turn the most vibrant yellow and when the sun hits a bluff of them it positively glows. The whole countryside is really pretty right now, the grasses have turned different shades of browns, yellows, and golds while the chokecherries turn a dark red. Unfortunately the maples we have here usually just submit to the cooler temperatures and the leaves turn an odd flesh colour and fall to the ground with a whimper. I think no matter where you live there’s something special about autumn, it’s something that inexplicably makes perfectly sane people ingest large quantities of pumpkin spice everything!

Starting yesterday and going for one week is the ForMax event, which is raising funds for one of SL’s own who has come upon some difficult times. There’s a whole lot of talented designers taking part with some really great items. Galland Homes is there with the ‘Keys Bungalow’. It’s an adorable one room home with high ceilings, lots of windows, and a roomy veranda on the front. It’s got a nice low land impact of 42 and is perfect for a beach house or, like I did here, a little retreat out in the country. I want to point out the incredible detailing the front door has, the etching on the glass really sets this little house apart. I always believe that it doesn’t take a big house to make a home…..all you need is love to do that. The ForMax event runs until October 10.

I’ve managed to clutter up the yard pretty good, but it’s all good stuff! I’ll start with the cute ‘Arya Wooden Forest Friends’ from Serenity Style and available now at Lootbox. I scored the RARE which included the two owls and a fox and then I had to play for the others, I put another fox and a bunny out here.

The ‘wagon wheel, stained’ is from tarte and available at Salem. That’s a great event for all kinds of autumn and Halloween things.

Industrie is a new event that opened the other day, it’s all things minimal and industrial! It’s a collection of designers from all genres, so there is something for everyone. I picked up the ‘Simple Ladder’ from [Isuka].

The ‘pumpkin wagon, planter, and crate all come from a gacha from dust bunny & tenshi.

The ‘lanterns and wooden post’ are from Calm. and for the life of me I can’t remember where I got it and I can’t find a land mark for their main store. I landed in a bare lot. If you find a land mark that works for them drop me a line, I like their things. 🙂

The ‘Bicycle, yella’ is from a gacha set from Bueno. It’s decor only, pretty much like my bicycle in real life!

The dog that’s laying on the veranda is some stray that’s wondered by. He’s from ‘The Freak Shelter’ gacha from .::THOR::.. All the gacha are in their own little building at the main store, so it’s way too easy to get sidetracked while blogging! I have to stay home while I write! 🙂

The ‘rocking chair’ on the veranda is from [we’re Closed].

The frame behind the owl on the left is from the ‘Secret Sanctuary’ gacha set from [Krescendo] and available at The Gacha Guardians.

The ‘farmhouse mailbox’ is from Vagabond. and the ‘Beach broken chair’ on the veranda is from a gacha from PewPew.

The ‘Little Tree, fall’ is from keke.

All of the other trees are the Aspens and Aspen saplings from Botanical.

The ‘wild sword grass’ is from Kidd Creation and all of the other grass is from the dry and summer, rich meadow grass from Raindale.

Heavenly

I really want this in my real life. A cute little corner all fixed up with everything I need to be completely at peace. I know exactly where I’d put it too! There’s a little spot in the pasture, on the south side of a poplar bluff that looks out over the prairie. The trees are starting to turn a bright yellow and the smell of dry grass and sage is in the air. The sky is that pale blue that only fall brings and the light breeze has a nip to it, but with this facing south I don’t feel the north west wind. I’ve finished my cup of coffee, and as I lay my book down beside me, having gotten sleepy from the warm sun shining on me, I see nothing but red through my closed eyelids. The sky is filled with migrating birds most of the day and into the night as the crows, geese, and cranes are all on the move, by the hundreds, heading for warmer climes. There was frost last night and soon there’ll be colder nights and eventually snow. But today, I rest peacefully letting all thoughts of my physical being go and enjoy this very second, for it’s the only thing that matters!

The ‘Wooden Signs’ from {MYNX} are rustic and woodsy and say pretty much everything that needs to be said! I chose the ‘Love’, ‘But first, Coffee’, ‘And so the adventure begins’, and the ‘I want to rock your gypsy soul’ signs to keep me grounded in life and to keep all the heavy stuff from clogging up my mind. These signs are available starting today at the September round of Limit 8, starting at 5 PM SLT. If Limit 8 is new to you, you can check out the website.

I wanted to have a little place where I could go to escape the world, yes…..even the virtual one, so I set up ‘The Old Shed, SUPER RARE’ from ‘The Summer is Gone’ gacha set from ..::THOR::... This gacha set is it’s part of the September round of PocketGacha, so there’s no need to leave your home to play. If PocketGacha is new to you, visit their website and find out more, I know you’ll want to get that HUD and start playing! I’m showing most of ‘The Summer is Gone’ gacha set here, including the ‘DIY Bed, RARE’, ‘The Fishbowl’, ‘The Coffee Cup’, ‘The Vintage Nightstand’, ‘The Vintage Radio’, ‘The Flying Leaves’, ‘The Stacked Blankets’, ‘The Old Fender’, and ‘The Broken Bicycle’. The bicycle and the fender both come with two versions, one for ground and one for the wall, to make it nice and versatile when decorating. I love the casual and rustic designs from ..::THOR::.., the intricate detailing and unique look are perfect additions to my SL home!

I love the soft and natural looking grasses from Raindale! This is the ‘dry’ version of the ‘Meadow Grass’.

The ‘Norway Maple’ and the ‘Wild Oak’ trees are from The Little Branch, along with the ‘Wild Grass Dry’ which is included with the ‘Wild Oak’ tree pack.

The Story of My Life

My story isn’t anything special, there’s no explosions or tender love stories. It’s not been like a Nicholas Sparks book, or a Stephen King novel either! It’s not been a fairy tale or anything like a true crime story. But, it’s mine……it’s my work in progress, my unfinished novel that hopefully takes many more years to complete. If each day of my life is a page in my novel, I have a few chapters done and included some footnotes to make it a little easier to follow. Maybe I should include a chronology of events so at least I can keep track, because over time it all kind of ends up in a jumbled mess. Luckily I have a few major events in my life that I can refer to reminiscing, and those chapters I’ll never forget. If my book is going to be made into a TV series those chapters would be the end of season cliffhangers, for sure. Everyone has a story and it’s not up to us to judge a person by what chapter we enter their lives at. I know I’ve had a few chapters that I’m sure most people would want to avoid. But, we all have those, and it’s times like that that the really good friends stick with us, and hopefully continue to! You know what they say about friends, the true friend is someone who knows all about you, but likes you anyway! At this point in my life I look back and know I’ve loved, cared, and shown compassion, I’ve learned and grown as a person, and I came through the bad times stronger. No chapter of my life has been in vain, it’s all happened for a reason. I don’t know what’ll happen in the remainder of my book, but I hope it has a happy ending.

OK……first off….the incredible new pose/prop set from Le Poppycock! This time of year I always look forward to the cooler weather so I can stay indoors and do some reading, and this set has completely put me in the mood for it! The ‘Book Lovers’ A & B’ pose/prop sets are incredibly well thought out. They have unique and interesting poses along with books and cats…who doesn’t want that? The books are texture change depending on what you feel like reading, today it’s a pulp fiction story about a nurse and her patient, hmmmm. *raises eyebrow* But anyway, there’s two books to choose from, both with multiple titles to choose from, and the cats are also colour change. I’ve always loved an orange or calico cat. This pose/prop set is available now at The Liaison Collaborative, which runs until the end of the month. Oh, btw, for anyone who loves books and reading the theme for this round is ‘Literary-ly Inspired’ so it’s a book lovers dream!

Also at The Liaison Collaborative is something every book lover needs! The ‘Bitterwood Bookshelf and Lamp’ are exclusive to TLC from Raindale and they both add a nice woodsy feel to a cabin or house. The bookshelf is loaded with books and the lamp’s shelf has some too, but the set does include a book free lamp, if you need somewhere to put your tea or coffee. Also from Raindale is the stack of 3 books in front of me, which is from the ‘Larimer Set’ and the ‘stack of books to the right, which is from the ‘Mauner Set’.

The chair, which has a huge stack of books beside it, and the little wagon with books in it are both from the ‘Storyteller’s Burrow’ gacha set from 8f8.

The house plants and the ‘Toasty Space Heater’ are both from {what next}.

The books to the left are the books from the ‘Bric-a-Brac Desk’ gacha set from aisling.

The award above the chair was given to me by a friend and I display it prominently at home to remind me! It’s the ‘Star of Fame/Best Photographer’ award from the ‘Star of Fame’ gacha set from Commoner. Thanks so much, Elle!

The carpet is the rug from the ‘Dark Oak’ gacha set from Bee Designs.

And last but definitely not least, is my cup of tea. It’s from the ‘hard to find vol.2’ set in mint, from keke. This cute set includes a bowl of lemons, with stacked bowls and also a full cup, a turned over cup, cream and sugar, and stacked cups.

And as for my outfit! The ‘Lazy Sweatshirt, Toronto, is from Stories&Co. by Flowey, the ‘Scrunched Sweats’ are from Tres Blah, the ‘SAYAKA’ hair is from Argrace, and ‘The Countess’ glasses are from Earthstones. As always, the ‘Luna’ skin in’miel’ tone is from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa, the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya, and the flat feet from SLink.
