The Hockey Game

The Hockey Game

Hello out there, we’re on the air, it’s ‘Hockey Night’ tonight.
Tension grows, the wistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps, and the players bump, and the fans all go insane.
Someone roars, “Bobby Scores!”, at the good ol’ Hockey Game.

:: CHORUS ::
OH! The good ol’ Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol’ Hockey game.

Second Period.

Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind.
But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and they’re down across the line.
They storm the crease, like bumble bees, they travel like a burning flame.
We see them slide, the puck inside, it’s a 1-1 hockey game.

(Chorus)

Third Period. Last game of the playoff too!

Oh take me where, the hockey players, face off down the rink.
And the Stanley Cup, is all filled up, for the champs who win the drink.
Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and the one gigantic scream.
“The puck is in! The home team wins!”, the good ol’ hockey game.

The Hockey Song‘ ~Stompin’ Tom Connors~

*muttering to myself* I got his favourite pizza I hope he appreciates this! And beer….gotta have beer with the pizza. I just hope he doesn’t go on and on like he usually does. Gawd I don’t know if I’ll be able to take it….Sidney this and Evgeni that! And if he says ‘threepeat’ one more time I’m going to lose it, seriously! Robert’s a great guy, I can’t deny that, it’s not his fault he lives where he does and has bad taste in hockey teams. Penguins…….who in hell is afraid of a Penguin! The only thing worse than a penguin would be a flamingo….yea…that’s what they should be….the Pittsburgh Flamingos..it has a ring to it! Then I could cover his lawn with plastic ones. I wonder if I can find plastic penguins…I doubt it. Who would want penguins on their lawn, but then again who wants plastic flamingos on their lawn, for that matter? Oh man, I hope the Caps can do it this time, I sure don’t need the same thing happening today as last game. Him standing over me with his finger just about jammed up my nose, yelling ‘In your face..!’ I never knew he was that intense….

Ok, so that’s complete and utter fiction! Oh, Robert Galland is a Pittsburgh Penguin fan, that’s true…but the rest is just silly! I’m on my way to his new and incredible house, the ‘Cape Hatteras’ by Galland Homes. I love it’s open floor plan with lots of windows but still wall space for that big screen TV or art work you may collect. The upstairs has a master suite and second bedroom plus a room for a nursery, bathroom or office! It’s available now at the ULTRA Event! For more pictures and information you can visit the Galland Homes Facebook page or see them in-world at the Main Store.

And as for the decorating? The ‘Summer Garden Planters’ are from {what next}. The ‘Gillian Schoolhouse Bench’ is from Trompe Loeil. The two pair of shoes are from the ‘Stockholm Bedroom’ set from ~BAZAR~.

My outfit consists of the ‘Lila Rolled Cuff Jeans’ from Blueberry and the ‘Basic Tank Top’ from Tres Blah along with the ‘Arianna Sneakers’ from REIGN.. My hair is ‘AKEMI’ by Argrace. My poses are a combination of 2 poses from Le Poppycock, with the most important one being from the ‘A Helping Hand’ set of poses, which made it so easy to carry the pizza.

On bended knee is no way to be free
Lifting up an empty cup I ask silently
That all my destinations will accept the one that’s me
So I can breath
Circles they grow and they swallow people whole
Half their lives they say goodnight to wive’s they’ll never know
Got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul
So it goes
Don’t come closer or I’ll have to go
Holding me like gravity are places that pull
If ever there was someone to keep me at home
It would be you
Everyone I come across in cages they bought
They think of me and my wandering
But I’m never what they thought
Got my indignation but I’m pure in all my thoughts
I’m alive
Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
Underneath my being is a road that disappeared
Late at night I hear the trees
They’re singing with the dead
Overhead
Leave it to me as I find a way to be
Consider me a satellite for ever orbiting
I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me

Yes, it’s an Eddie Vedder day! This song is one of my favourites from the ‘Into the Wild’ soundtrack. I thought of it because of the line referring to the wind in my hair. I’m not sure why the thought of wind in my hair seems so freeing to me, because on most days it drives me crazy. I have naturally curly hair in real life, not big curly curls just gentle ones, and the wind can play havoc with them making it all knot up. So, mainly I stick with a ponytail and a hat! Yes, I’m sure most of you are now envisioning me as the stereotypical farm girl in jeans, a plaid shirt and a hat with a ponytail. I won’t try to convince you otherwise, I’ll let you go on seeing me however you want to. 😀 But here in Second Life today I have long hair, blowing gently in the wind, while it’s caressing my skin and the sun warming me slightly in it’s lessening intensity of the late evening. There’s something calming about nature that my brain and body needs, grounding me to the very basics of life and putting the disturbances of the world far out of my reality. Ahhh…….have a good Saturday everyone. ♥

So here’s the deal! I love this bed, wanted to showcase it well, and decided what better way than to set it outside alone on a hilltop, with me on it! You can’t miss it, can you? This is the ‘Cape Hatteras Bed’ by Galland Homes! This bed, in all it’s versatile glory, comes in PG and Adult versions with the PG containing 35 single and couples poses(bento included) and the Adult version has 71 animations including singles, couples, and adult animations, to spice your SL up a a bit. The cover, fold and headboard are all texture change on touch via drop down menu and it’s simple styling makes it able to go with lots of different decor. It’s available now at the March round of FaMESHed, which runs until March 27.

And as for my simple outfit? I’m wearing the ‘Wet Dress, peach’ from Gabriel. It’s pretty sexy!

The ‘HARUKA’ hair is from Argrace.

My look all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

This pose is ‘penlinio iii’ from Grafica Poses.

I’m at the always pretty Salt Water sim for this shot.

Santa’s Hut

Santa's Hidey-Hole

I always dreamed of the decadent comforts that could be had in ones very own hidey-hole. That little place to crawl into when I need to escape reality for awhile. It would be all warm and cozy with lots of blankets and pillows, maybe a little wood stove to heat some milk for hot chocolate. I’d have a nice collection of books, about a wide variety of things, just in case the book I’m reading at the time doesn’t thrill me. I think I’d only wear pajamas in there, not a nightie but the pants and top men’s type pajamas with slippers….no….big wooly socks. I’d have my phone with me, but only reply to the ones I want to, which on most days is very few, so this wouldn’t be anything new. The phone would also be good to have with me in case I need to call someone to bring me something to make my little retreat a bit more comfortable, like cookies or maybe a slice of brownie, or two. I think it would also be nice to have a cat with me, for a little company. They’re not demanding like a dog, and they don’t mind if I ignore them, but it would be comforting to have a little bit of company. Oh, and of course I’d only go to this retreat in the winter, I don’t normally want a wood stove and hot chocolate on a hot summer day. At least thinking about this in December still leaves me lots of time to get something built before spring, because up here, getting to spring is a long term goal, it’s not in the near future, that’s for sure!

I’d like to thank Robert Galland of Galland Homes for building this little hut for Santa, because if it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be posting any festive pictures this year. Still not in the mood, sorry all! But, I created a little area for Santa to retreat to when he has some time before the big day, or maybe on Boxing Day. I put a little wood stove in there along with a big comfy chair and a big steaming mug of hot chocolate for his enjoyment. Santa’s Hut has a 5X5m footprint and a land impact of 11, so it fits pretty much anywhere. It’s available now until December 25 at the Paying It Forward Event, which is an event based on the idea of generosity and giving, so each item there has nocopy/transfer permissions so you can give them as gifts to anyone you care to. I recommend you join the Paying It Forward group so you can pick up the numerous gifts from a lot of seriously talented designers. I love this idea, it makes it easy to spoil the ones closest to you.

And as for the rest of this little scene, well gachas play a fairly large part in it. I need some kind of reason to play gacha like I do! 😛 So, Mesh India is at the current round of Cosmopolitan with the ‘Let It Snow Winter Decor gacha 2’, and the stump with axe and separate stumps are from that one. There’s another fantastic winter gacha set at the MI main store, if you’re interested.

The trees on either side of the hut and the toboggan, which is part of the snowy planks walk way are all part of the ‘Midwinter Magic’ gacha set from DEL-ka AEDILIS. They specialize in role play buildings and furniture and have a bunch of other gachas to play at the main store.

The snowy ground, snowy meadow and snowy grasses are all from a mega snowy pack I got from KIDD Grass awhile back.

The ‘Fall Heritage Woodburner’ and the ‘Magnolia Wreath’ are both from Apple Fall.

You Just Never Know What You’ll See!

You Just Never Know What You'll See!

Have you ever wondered what goes on outside overnight? I don’t know about anyone else, but once it’s dark outside, there could be any number of things going on out there! Usually things that I’d rather not know about, like an ax murderer, aliens, or worst of all….ghosts! But, I had the bright idea a year or so ago to get a trail cam to set up in the yard to capture anything that might be wandering through. My one fear is that I’ll see something that I’d rather not know about, but so far…so good! There’s usually a deer or two, a skunk or three, or a coyote. Oh….and the odd stray cat, and sometimes a raccoon or a bunny. The coyotes are the ones I hate to see, they’ve become so brave in around the yard that it’s a little disconcerting to see them casually walk around. A couple evenings ago I stepped out onto my step and came face to face with one about 30 feet from me. He didn’t run or get scared, he just stood and stared at me. I have no doubt he was on his way to see if there was a chicken out to steal, so I tried to scare him into running away, but he just loped off a little bit and then stood looking at me again. There are guns on the premises, but I really hate guns, so needless to say the worst I could do was tell him to Eff off and try to look scary, which some people would say comes naturally to me! 😛 This morning it was a whole new ball game though……there on the camera, was a big old horse…just wandering around in the dark( I don’t have horses at the moment), and behind it….following along was a little horse! I knew whose they were once the little one showed itself, so it was just a matter of waiting for daylight and scouting around so I could tell the neighbour where he could find them. They had moved on up the field to the north and were heading east when I found them. So, if the scariest thing I capture on the camera is a little bit of wildlife or a farm animal or two…that’s fine…it’s those 2 legged monsters I really don’t want to see out there, skulking around in the dark!

There’s something in my front yard here that I’d be really shocked to see! The ‘Wicked Legs’ from {MYNX} are exclusive to the October round of The Chapter Four and add a really nice touch to your Halloween decorating! They’re 100% original mesh and they’re copy/modify so you can adjust the thigh shadows to where you need them. The Chapter Four runs until the end of the month!

October is full of Halloween events and goings on, and [QE] Designs is in a couple of them with some seasonal decor! I’m showing the ‘Wire Punkin Set’ here, which includes 4 styles of wire pumpkins and lots of options! They’re colour change via drop down menu with six colours for the pumpkin, 4 stem colours and 5 light colours. These are exclusive to the Mad Circus 3 Halloween & Gacha Fair, which runs until October 31. Also from [QE] Designs is the ‘Fall Punkin Set v2’, which includes 4 shapes with 8 colours each via drop down menu. They’re copy/mod so you can cover your whole yard in pumpkins if you want! These are available at Trick or Treat Lane, which opens today and runs until November 3, as well as Mad Circus 3.

Another event for October to be on the lookout for is Season of the Witch! It starts tomorrow(October 14) and runs until November 4, and Raindale has the ‘Charfell Cabin’ exclusive to the event. This cute cabin has a footprint of 10X15 and a land impact of 40, and it’s modifiable to be resized as needed. It comes on a platform(23X23 footprint and 8 land impact) which is HUD driven with 5 grass textures, and it can be removed if needed! I’m using it here! The cabin is scripted with the Kool Door system so you can limit access. This cabin has a really unique roof line and some great accents, so if you want to get a full view you can check out Keira’s flickr site!

I’ve used the chairs from ‘Kate’s Vintage Chairs’ from Nutmeg, which is a set of six chairs, all with really unique shapes and detailing.

The ‘Deathly Tree, orange lights’ is from Refuge and available now at Salem. It’s in a gothic style stone urn with two ravens standing at it’s base. The lights can be set to blink or to stay on.

You can’t see them well, but I’ve added the ‘Black Baby Birds’ from +Half-Deer+ on the step of the cabin. These are cute little black chicks that come with various groupings and also singles, plus some wearable ones too! These are also at Salem.

I’m using grasses from Raindale and Kidd Grass here.
