Cherish the Day

Cherish the Day

You’re ruling the way that I move
And I breathe your air
You only can rescue me
This is my prayer
If you were mine
If you were mine
I wouldn’t want to go to heaven

I cherish the day
I won’t go astray
I won’t be afraid
You won’t catch me running
You’re ruling the way that I move
You take my air

You show me how deep love can be

You’re ruling the way that I move
And I breathe your air
You only can rescue me
This is my prayer

I Cherish the Day
I won’t go astray
I won’t be afraid
You won’t catch me running
I Cherish the Day
I won’t go astray
I won’t be afraid
Won’t run away

You show me how deep love can be
You show me how deep love can be
This is my prayer

I Cherish the Day
I won’t go astray
I won’t be afraid
Won’t run away
Won’t shy

I Cherish the Day
I won’t go astray

I Cherish the Day

Cherish the Day‘ ~Sade~

If, at the end of the day, you can look back and be satisfied that you’ve done all you can to make the day count, it’s been a very good day. How do we make a day count? First off I try to accomplish something, no matter how big or small, just make at least one step forward. I make sure to laugh as much as I can…even though some days all it might be is a small smile while considering the irony of this world. I want the people I love know how I feel about them, it may not always be obvious but even just doing something nice for them can let them know they matter. To make a day complete it’s good to do something for yourself, reading a book while soaking in a bath or taking a walk to collect your thoughts….doesn’t matter what it is….if a person enjoys it….then do it! Unless, of course, it’s illegal…….then I don’t want to know about it. 😀 A random act of kindness is always good to make a day better, both the giver and the receiver benefit from one small good deed each day. And when I lay down at night I remember to appreciate that I’ve had another day here on this earth and that if I don’t make it through the night ahead….at least I made my last day count!

First off, I want to thank Vrir for enjoying this sunset with me. There are few things better than feeling a light evening breeze coming in off the water and hearing the soft sounds of the waves lapping at the shore, at the end of a perfect day. ♥

Ok, I know this picture’s a little bit dark……well….yea….maybe more than a little bit, but I wanted this lighting, so I’m hoping Robert Galland of Galland Homes will understand that the daybed, which I’m featuring here, is somewhat lost in the silhouette but I’ll make it up with a closer look below. The ‘Freeman Day Bed’ is the newest release from Galland Homes and it’s exclusive to the FaMESHedGO HUD based shopping event and available at the Main Store. It has a land impact of 8 and is available in PG and Adult, with bento animations and sequences included with both versions. The animations are high quality and there’s a few that I’ve not seen before and are SO adorable!

What Hurts the Most

What Hurts the Most

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that is not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doin’ it
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still harder, getting up, getting dressed, living with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

What Hurts the Most‘ ~Aaron Lewis~ written by Jeffrey Steele

Ok, so this has been a week of songs, and I have to say I’ve enjoyed matching a song to my mood and picture for each post. I’d like to continue to do that, but I’ll also continue writing, some days more than others. Oh, I still have thoughts and opinions, but there are times that I find it hard to put more than 3 words together and still make sense, so having a song do some of my talking for me is really quite a relief, but you guys have to promise to click on the link to the song and listen, because I have great taste in music(I think I do, anyway), and each song I pick is more than just a song. It represents something in me, whether now or in the past, it’s chosen for a reason. Part of me feels like I’m letting my readers down by adding a song to my posts, and I have no idea why I feel that way so strongly. I know no one expects me to have something creative and exciting to say every time, the people I know in real life sure as heck don’t expect much more from me most days than for me to nod and grunt a hello in their general direction, then be quiet for an hour while I struggle with the reality of having to be social. So, today enjoy Aaron Lewis with a tearjerker of a song, and oh….btw……just a warning…..if you’re expecting happy shiny songs……yea….you may be disappointed….rarely am I a happy and shiny type of person. 🙂

So, there’s a week left int he inaugural round of the ILLUMINATE event, so with that in mind get down there to have a look at the offerings from some of the grids most creative and imaginative home and decor stores. Galland Homes is there with the ‘Cape Hatteras Bedroom’ items. They’re all sold separately and the set includes the bookcase, small side table, and slip cover chair, which all goes perfectly with the ‘Cape Hatteras’ bed that’s available at the main store. The table, dresser and book case come in two colours to choose from and the slip cover chair has ten male and female sitting animations. The ILLUMINATE event runs until April 13.

I’ve added some home decor to make this a cozy little bedroom. The books in the bookcase are from Dutchie, as is the ‘Dutch Photo Collage’ on the wall to the left of the bookcase.

The art above the bed is ‘Marrakech’ in pastel by Silas Merlin.

The ‘Table Lamp’ on the side table on the right is from C L A Vv.

The books to the left of the chair is from Apple Fall and the books to the right are a group gift from Nutmeg.

The plant in the foreground is from Dust Bunny and the Rug is from Apt B.

I’m in one of the rooms of the ‘Tuscany Loft’ from DaD Designs. It’s one of my favourite skyboxes.

On bended knee is no way to be free
Lifting up an empty cup I ask silently
That all my destinations will accept the one that’s me
So I can breath
Circles they grow and they swallow people whole
Half their lives they say goodnight to wive’s they’ll never know
Got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul
So it goes
Don’t come closer or I’ll have to go
Holding me like gravity are places that pull
If ever there was someone to keep me at home
It would be you
Everyone I come across in cages they bought
They think of me and my wandering
But I’m never what they thought
Got my indignation but I’m pure in all my thoughts
I’m alive
Wind in my hair, I feel part of everywhere
Underneath my being is a road that disappeared
Late at night I hear the trees
They’re singing with the dead
Overhead
Leave it to me as I find a way to be
Consider me a satellite for ever orbiting
I knew all the rules but the rules did not know me

Yes, it’s an Eddie Vedder day! This song is one of my favourites from the ‘Into the Wild’ soundtrack. I thought of it because of the line referring to the wind in my hair. I’m not sure why the thought of wind in my hair seems so freeing to me, because on most days it drives me crazy. I have naturally curly hair in real life, not big curly curls just gentle ones, and the wind can play havoc with them making it all knot up. So, mainly I stick with a ponytail and a hat! Yes, I’m sure most of you are now envisioning me as the stereotypical farm girl in jeans, a plaid shirt and a hat with a ponytail. I won’t try to convince you otherwise, I’ll let you go on seeing me however you want to. 😀 But here in Second Life today I have long hair, blowing gently in the wind, while it’s caressing my skin and the sun warming me slightly in it’s lessening intensity of the late evening. There’s something calming about nature that my brain and body needs, grounding me to the very basics of life and putting the disturbances of the world far out of my reality. Ahhh…….have a good Saturday everyone. ♥

So here’s the deal! I love this bed, wanted to showcase it well, and decided what better way than to set it outside alone on a hilltop, with me on it! You can’t miss it, can you? This is the ‘Cape Hatteras Bed’ by Galland Homes! This bed, in all it’s versatile glory, comes in PG and Adult versions with the PG containing 35 single and couples poses(bento included) and the Adult version has 71 animations including singles, couples, and adult animations, to spice your SL up a a bit. The cover, fold and headboard are all texture change on touch via drop down menu and it’s simple styling makes it able to go with lots of different decor. It’s available now at the March round of FaMESHed, which runs until March 27.

And as for my simple outfit? I’m wearing the ‘Wet Dress, peach’ from Gabriel. It’s pretty sexy!

The ‘HARUKA’ hair is from Argrace.

My look all starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

This pose is ‘penlinio iii’ from Grafica Poses.

I’m at the always pretty Salt Water sim for this shot.

The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes

The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes

PART ONE

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
Riding—riding—
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

He’d a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin.
They fitted with never a wrinkle. His boots were up to the thigh.
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.

Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard.
He tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred.
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord’s daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

And dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim the ostler listened. His face was white and peaked.
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord’s daughter,
The landlord’s red-lipped daughter.
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say—

“One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I’m after a prize to-night,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
Yet, if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I’ll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way.”

He rose upright in the stirrups. He scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair in the casement. His face burnt like a brand
As the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(O, sweet black waves in the moonlight!)
Then he tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.

PART TWO

He did not come in the dawning. He did not come at noon;
And out of the tawny sunset, before the rise of the moon,
When the road was a gypsy’s ribbon, looping the purple moor,
A red-coat troop came marching—
Marching—marching—
King George’s men came marching, up to the old inn-door.

They said no word to the landlord. They drank his ale instead.
But they gagged his daughter, and bound her, to the foot of her narrow bed.
Two of them knelt at her casement, with muskets at their side!
There was death at every window;
And hell at one dark window;
For Bess could see, through her casement, the road that he would ride.

They had tied her up to attention, with many a sniggering jest.
They had bound a musket beside her, with the muzzle beneath her breast!
“Now, keep good watch!” and they kissed her. She heard the doomed man say—
Look for me by moonlight;
Watch for me by moonlight;
I’ll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way!

She twisted her hands behind her; but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till her fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like years
Till, now, on the stroke of midnight,
Cold, on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!

The tip of one finger touched it. She strove no more for the rest.
Up, she stood up to attention, with the muzzle beneath her breast.
She would not risk their hearing; she would not strive again;
For the road lay bare in the moonlight;
Blank and bare in the moonlight;
And the blood of her veins, in the moonlight, throbbed to her love’s refrain.

Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot! Had they heard it? The horsehoofs ringing clear;
Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot, in the distance? Were they deaf that they did not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding—
Riding—riding—
The red coats looked to their priming! She stood up, straight and still.

Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer. Her face was like a light.
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him—with her death.

He turned. He spurred to the west; he did not know who stood
Bowed, with her head o’er the musket, drenched with her own blood!
Not till the dawn he heard it, and his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord’s daughter,
The landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high.
Blood red were his spurs in the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat;
When they shot him down on the highway,
Down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with a bunch of lace at his throat.

. . .

And still of a winter’s night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding—
Riding—riding—
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.

Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard.
He taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred.
He whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord’s daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

I know that’s a long read, but believe me, it’s so worth it! This poem has captivated me for so many years and I just felt that this picture had this kind of mood. No, I’m not the landlord’s black eyed daughter, but I can relate to her self sacrifice, mainly because I would do anything for the people I love. I hope it would never come to that, that I have to kill myself to save anyone, but I truly would give up my life to save someone I love. Yea, I know it sounds kind of trite, and easy to say because it hasn’t come to that, but look at the people who have lost their lives, doing the most heroic of things, and not just for people they love, but for complete strangers. The people that are completely selfless when in situations that hard choices must be made, and are done in the blink of an eye, and the ones who survive these miracles will say they’d do it again with no thought of their own safety. I can only hope I act in this way if ever in this situation. I guess a person never knows how they’ll react when in dangerous situations, but I hope I’m the one helping in any way I can, instead of leading the charge, running in the opposite direction as fast as I can while yelling, ‘Run Away!’.

This shot has a lot in it, but what I really want to show is that I’m in, what I call, the master bedroom of the ‘Galveston’ home from Galland Homes. It’s part of the February Builder’s Box, which is still available in-world or on Market Place. This house has a land impact of 128 with two extremely spacious rooms for decorating ease. I’m in the second smaller room, which I’ve made into a master bedroom, complete with a fireplace and 5 windows in 3 directions, making for some amazing views while enjoying some privacy. The larger room also has a fireplace and with it’s many windows and vaulted ceilings it really makes it so versatile for many decorating styles. The front door opens out onto a small porch with a nice railing, perfect for watching the sunset in your rocking chair! Here’s a closer look at the outside!

I’m sitting sadly here, using the ‘Careless Whispers’ pose from the ‘Heartache’ pose sets from Le Poppycock. There’s 2 sets, each with 6 thoughtful or sad poses with rose pose props for that lost love. They’re available at the current round of The Chapter Four.

I have a lot of decor out here, so I’m going to keep it simple and run down what’s what and from who! 😀
