The Hockey Game

The Hockey Game

Hello out there, we’re on the air, it’s ‘Hockey Night’ tonight.
Tension grows, the wistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice.
The goalie jumps, and the players bump, and the fans all go insane.
Someone roars, “Bobby Scores!”, at the good ol’ Hockey Game.

:: CHORUS ::
OH! The good ol’ Hockey game, is the best game you can name.
And the best game you can name, is the good ol’ Hockey game.

Second Period.

Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind.
But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and they’re down across the line.
They storm the crease, like bumble bees, they travel like a burning flame.
We see them slide, the puck inside, it’s a 1-1 hockey game.

Third Period. Last game of the playoff too!

Oh take me where, the hockey players, face off down the rink.
And the Stanley Cup, is all filled up, for the champs who win the drink.
Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and the one gigantic scream.
“The puck is in! The home team wins!”, the good ol’ hockey game.

The Hockey Song‘ ~Stompin’ Tom Connors~

*muttering to myself* I got his favourite pizza I hope he appreciates this! And beer….gotta have beer with the pizza. I just hope he doesn’t go on and on like he usually does. Gawd I don’t know if I’ll be able to take it….Sidney this and Evgeni that! And if he says ‘threepeat’ one more time I’m going to lose it, seriously! Robert’s a great guy, I can’t deny that, it’s not his fault he lives where he does and has bad taste in hockey teams. Penguins…….who in hell is afraid of a Penguin! The only thing worse than a penguin would be a flamingo….yea…that’s what they should be….the Pittsburgh has a ring to it! Then I could cover his lawn with plastic ones. I wonder if I can find plastic penguins…I doubt it. Who would want penguins on their lawn, but then again who wants plastic flamingos on their lawn, for that matter? Oh man, I hope the Caps can do it this time, I sure don’t need the same thing happening today as last game. Him standing over me with his finger just about jammed up my nose, yelling ‘In your face..!’ I never knew he was that intense….

Ok, so that’s complete and utter fiction! Oh, Robert Galland is a Pittsburgh Penguin fan, that’s true…but the rest is just silly! I’m on my way to his new and incredible house, the ‘Cape Hatteras’ by Galland Homes. I love it’s open floor plan with lots of windows but still wall space for that big screen TV or art work you may collect. The upstairs has a master suite and second bedroom plus a room for a nursery, bathroom or office! It’s available now at the ULTRA Event! For more pictures and information you can visit the Galland Homes Facebook page or see them in-world at the Main Store.

And as for the decorating? The ‘Summer Garden Planters’ are from {what next}. The ‘Gillian Schoolhouse Bench’ is from Trompe Loeil. The two pair of shoes are from the ‘Stockholm Bedroom’ set from ~BAZAR~.

My outfit consists of the ‘Lila Rolled Cuff Jeans’ from Blueberry and the ‘Basic Tank Top’ from Tres Blah along with the ‘Arianna Sneakers’ from REIGN.. My hair is ‘AKEMI’ by Argrace. My poses are a combination of 2 poses from Le Poppycock, with the most important one being from the ‘A Helping Hand’ set of poses, which made it so easy to carry the pizza.

What Hurts the Most

What Hurts the Most

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that is not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doin’ it
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still harder, getting up, getting dressed, living with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away

What Hurts the Most‘ ~Aaron Lewis~ written by Jeffrey Steele

Ok, so this has been a week of songs, and I have to say I’ve enjoyed matching a song to my mood and picture for each post. I’d like to continue to do that, but I’ll also continue writing, some days more than others. Oh, I still have thoughts and opinions, but there are times that I find it hard to put more than 3 words together and still make sense, so having a song do some of my talking for me is really quite a relief, but you guys have to promise to click on the link to the song and listen, because I have great taste in music(I think I do, anyway), and each song I pick is more than just a song. It represents something in me, whether now or in the past, it’s chosen for a reason. Part of me feels like I’m letting my readers down by adding a song to my posts, and I have no idea why I feel that way so strongly. I know no one expects me to have something creative and exciting to say every time, the people I know in real life sure as heck don’t expect much more from me most days than for me to nod and grunt a hello in their general direction, then be quiet for an hour while I struggle with the reality of having to be social. So, today enjoy Aaron Lewis with a tearjerker of a song, and oh….btw……just a warning…..if you’re expecting happy shiny songs……yea….you may be disappointed….rarely am I a happy and shiny type of person. 🙂

So, there’s a week left int he inaugural round of the ILLUMINATE event, so with that in mind get down there to have a look at the offerings from some of the grids most creative and imaginative home and decor stores. Galland Homes is there with the ‘Cape Hatteras Bedroom’ items. They’re all sold separately and the set includes the bookcase, small side table, and slip cover chair, which all goes perfectly with the ‘Cape Hatteras’ bed that’s available at the main store. The table, dresser and book case come in two colours to choose from and the slip cover chair has ten male and female sitting animations. The ILLUMINATE event runs until April 13.

I’ve added some home decor to make this a cozy little bedroom. The books in the bookcase are from Dutchie, as is the ‘Dutch Photo Collage’ on the wall to the left of the bookcase.

The art above the bed is ‘Marrakech’ in pastel by Silas Merlin.

The ‘Table Lamp’ on the side table on the right is from C L A Vv.

The books to the left of the chair is from Apple Fall and the books to the right are a group gift from Nutmeg.

The plant in the foreground is from Dust Bunny and the Rug is from Apt B.

I’m in one of the rooms of the ‘Tuscany Loft’ from DaD Designs. It’s one of my favourite skyboxes.

The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes

The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

He’d a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin.
They fitted with never a wrinkle. His boots were up to the thigh.
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.

Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard.
He tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred.
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord’s daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

And dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim the ostler listened. His face was white and peaked.
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord’s daughter,
The landlord’s red-lipped daughter.
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say—

“One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I’m after a prize to-night,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
Yet, if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I’ll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way.”

He rose upright in the stirrups. He scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair in the casement. His face burnt like a brand
As the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(O, sweet black waves in the moonlight!)
Then he tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.

He did not come in the dawning. He did not come at noon;
And out of the tawny sunset, before the rise of the moon,
When the road was a gypsy’s ribbon, looping the purple moor,
A red-coat troop came marching—
King George’s men came marching, up to the old inn-door.

They said no word to the landlord. They drank his ale instead.
But they gagged his daughter, and bound her, to the foot of her narrow bed.
Two of them knelt at her casement, with muskets at their side!
There was death at every window;
And hell at one dark window;
For Bess could see, through her casement, the road that he would ride.

They had tied her up to attention, with many a sniggering jest.
They had bound a musket beside her, with the muzzle beneath her breast!
“Now, keep good watch!” and they kissed her. She heard the doomed man say—
Look for me by moonlight;
Watch for me by moonlight;
I’ll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way!

She twisted her hands behind her; but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till her fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like years
Till, now, on the stroke of midnight,
Cold, on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!

The tip of one finger touched it. She strove no more for the rest.
Up, she stood up to attention, with the muzzle beneath her breast.
She would not risk their hearing; she would not strive again;
For the road lay bare in the moonlight;
Blank and bare in the moonlight;
And the blood of her veins, in the moonlight, throbbed to her love’s refrain.

Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot! Had they heard it? The horsehoofs ringing clear;
Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot, in the distance? Were they deaf that they did not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding—
The red coats looked to their priming! She stood up, straight and still.

Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer. Her face was like a light.
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him—with her death.

He turned. He spurred to the west; he did not know who stood
Bowed, with her head o’er the musket, drenched with her own blood!
Not till the dawn he heard it, and his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord’s daughter,
The landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high.
Blood red were his spurs in the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat;
When they shot him down on the highway,
Down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with a bunch of lace at his throat.

. . .

And still of a winter’s night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding—
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.

Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard.
He taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred.
He whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord’s black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord’s daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

I know that’s a long read, but believe me, it’s so worth it! This poem has captivated me for so many years and I just felt that this picture had this kind of mood. No, I’m not the landlord’s black eyed daughter, but I can relate to her self sacrifice, mainly because I would do anything for the people I love. I hope it would never come to that, that I have to kill myself to save anyone, but I truly would give up my life to save someone I love. Yea, I know it sounds kind of trite, and easy to say because it hasn’t come to that, but look at the people who have lost their lives, doing the most heroic of things, and not just for people they love, but for complete strangers. The people that are completely selfless when in situations that hard choices must be made, and are done in the blink of an eye, and the ones who survive these miracles will say they’d do it again with no thought of their own safety. I can only hope I act in this way if ever in this situation. I guess a person never knows how they’ll react when in dangerous situations, but I hope I’m the one helping in any way I can, instead of leading the charge, running in the opposite direction as fast as I can while yelling, ‘Run Away!’.

This shot has a lot in it, but what I really want to show is that I’m in, what I call, the master bedroom of the ‘Galveston’ home from Galland Homes. It’s part of the February Builder’s Box, which is still available in-world or on Market Place. This house has a land impact of 128 with two extremely spacious rooms for decorating ease. I’m in the second smaller room, which I’ve made into a master bedroom, complete with a fireplace and 5 windows in 3 directions, making for some amazing views while enjoying some privacy. The larger room also has a fireplace and with it’s many windows and vaulted ceilings it really makes it so versatile for many decorating styles. The front door opens out onto a small porch with a nice railing, perfect for watching the sunset in your rocking chair! Here’s a closer look at the outside!

I’m sitting sadly here, using the ‘Careless Whispers’ pose from the ‘Heartache’ pose sets from Le Poppycock. There’s 2 sets, each with 6 thoughtful or sad poses with rose pose props for that lost love. They’re available at the current round of The Chapter Four.

I have a lot of decor out here, so I’m going to keep it simple and run down what’s what and from who! 😀

I Found What I Was Looking For

I Found What I Was Looking For

A few days ago I was needing a warm climate and a beach to sit on, just wanting to be truly warm inside, well……I found my sun, sand, and surf. Yea..I know it’s virtual, but it’s better than nothing. I sit here at the computer looking east, the sun just came up and it’s warmed up a bit. It’s only -28°C now, yea…..time to break out the fur lined bikini! In Second Life I’m sitting on the lifeguard chair and I have no idea how I got up here since I’m afraid of heights, but climb up here I did. Oh….and it’s a good thing this is a private beach because I’m a terrible swimmer and wouldn’t have a hope saving anyone in trouble. I can feel the warm breeze coming in off the ocean, though, and the warm afternoon sun is almost hot, but soooooo nice. Although I’ll be waiting another few months for warm weather in real life, at least I can find a little bit of relief from the cold in the virtual world.

The main feature of this post is the ‘Carribean Hut’ from Galland Homes which is available exclusively now at FaMESHed. It has a land impact of 25 and is a spacious room with lots of open windows to let in the cooling ocean breezes. It features a step with stairs leading up to the door and it’s on pilings so you can get out over the water with it, and feel like you’re on top of the world. FaMESHed runs until February 25.

I’m sitting on the ‘Lifeguard Chair’ from hive. The chair also comes in an abandoned version, but it looked a little too rickety.

The ‘lifebuoy’ on the hook and in the water are both from Dutchie. The pack of lifebouys come with four versions, the wall,floating, on the ground, and on a post.

I found the ‘Beach Poster 8’ in my Bee Designs folder, which is right full of all kinds of awesomeness!

The ‘Pampas Grass’ is from The Cube Republic. I love Pampas Grass!

The ‘Old Boat’ is from a gacha from ionic, not sure which one, sorry.

The ‘old fence’ is from [we’re CLOSED]. I’m now officially worried that Hazardous isn’t going to reopen! Please, Mandingo Quan…….please…..I need Hazardous, it’s my favourite photography sim!! 😀

A Lifetime of Homes

A Lifetime of Homes

I’ve always been a home body, I need somewhere I can be the real me, completely at ease and protected from the big bad world out there. Well, that’s a little bit dramatic, but you know what I mean. My home is my refuge, if I don’t have somewhere that I can be completely at peace to recharge, I’m a basket case. I’m no different in Second Life. I need to have a home where I can surround myself with my belongings to make me feel all cozy. I’m partial to warm colours and wood tones, the rustic look, I guess. One of my favourite home and decor designers in SL has always been Scarlet Creative. I’ve played every Scarlet Creative gacha there is and I’ve accumulated quite a few houses, skyboxes, and the various buildings that Charlotte Bartlett has created. So when I saw her post on FaceBook back in November about a raffle to raise money for her fur baby, I always like to help out if I can. I ended up not getting there until the last day to enter, but I got a gift card to use at a later date. Needless to say, when I got an instant message from Charlotte saying I’d won the grand prize, I was shocked and unbelieving. I IM’d her back if she was kidding me and she confirmed that no…..I had won…….the big prize!! I won’t be needing my gift card now, since I’m getting EVERY release from Scarlet Creative….for life! I have a hard time comprehending that concept…..I’ve never considered leaving SL, even for a break…so I can’t see me going anywhere anytime soon, but now……..there is NO way in h*ll I’m going to be leaving Second Life. I just think of all those Scarlet Creative homes….and I smile, knowing I’m going to have a new and comfortable home for the rest of my natural Second Life! Thank you, from the bottom of my little old virtual heart, Charlotte……may you and I live long and happy virtual lives! ♥

I’ve surrounded myself with a few things from my Scarlet Creative folder, which is already bursting at the virtual seams! I’ve rezzed the ‘Tree Gazer‘ house, which has two versions, one that stays on the ground and one that rises high above the forest floor so you can look down on your own piece of earthly heaven! I’ve decorated with the ‘Hide Sofa’ and the ‘Antler Chairs’ from ‘The Foundry’ gacha set along with the ‘Daisy Bird Cage, copper’ from the ‘Daisy’ gacha set.

I’ve also chosen some of my favourite things from ..::THOR::... The ‘Boho Guitar’, ‘The Fish Bowl’, the ‘Vintage Nightstand’, the ‘Vintage Radio’, and the ‘Old Books’ and ‘Coffee Cup’ which are on the nightstand. They’re from various gacha sets, which are all incredible.

The stack of books on the floor is a group gift from Nutmeg.

Above the sofa is a large board holding photos, it’s called ‘A Series of Unfortunate Photos, dark’. It holds 9 pictures…..just drag and drop your own textures into it. It’s from .peaches..

The ‘Cardboard Box of Books’ is from a gacha by 22769~[bauwerk].

The mens and ladies runners are from the ‘Stockholm Bedroom Set’ from ~BAZAR~.

And, the two rugs are from the ‘Farm Living’ gacha set from APT B.

And as for my outfit, you ask? Well, I’m wearing the ‘ACE SPORTS SET’ from DEAD DOLLZ, thanks so much, Elle!

The ‘G1204’ hair is the newest of new releases from tram, and it’s available now at ~uber~. And, as always, my look starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

Last but not least, I’m using the ‘A Purrfect Read (alt)’ pose and book prop from the ‘Book Lovers’ gacha set from Le Poppycock.
