The Story of My Life

My story isn’t anything special, there’s no explosions or tender love stories. It’s not been like a Nicholas Sparks book, or a Stephen King novel either! It’s not been a fairy tale or anything like a true crime story. But, it’s mine……it’s my work in progress, my unfinished novel that hopefully takes many more years to complete. If each day of my life is a page in my novel, I have a few chapters done and included some footnotes to make it a little easier to follow. Maybe I should include a chronology of events so at least I can keep track, because over time it all kind of ends up in a jumbled mess. Luckily I have a few major events in my life that I can refer to reminiscing, and those chapters I’ll never forget. If my book is going to be made into a TV series those chapters would be the end of season cliffhangers, for sure. Everyone has a story and it’s not up to us to judge a person by what chapter we enter their lives at. I know I’ve had a few chapters that I’m sure most people would want to avoid. But, we all have those, and it’s times like that that the really good friends stick with us, and hopefully continue to! You know what they say about friends, the true friend is someone who knows all about you, but likes you anyway! At this point in my life I look back and know I’ve loved, cared, and shown compassion, I’ve learned and grown as a person, and I came through the bad times stronger. No chapter of my life has been in vain, it’s all happened for a reason. I don’t know what’ll happen in the remainder of my book, but I hope it has a happy ending.

OK……first off….the incredible new pose/prop set from Le Poppycock! This time of year I always look forward to the cooler weather so I can stay indoors and do some reading, and this set has completely put me in the mood for it! The ‘Book Lovers’ A & B’ pose/prop sets are incredibly well thought out. They have unique and interesting poses along with books and cats…who doesn’t want that? The books are texture change depending on what you feel like reading, today it’s a pulp fiction story about a nurse and her patient, hmmmm. *raises eyebrow* But anyway, there’s two books to choose from, both with multiple titles to choose from, and the cats are also colour change. I’ve always loved an orange or calico cat. This pose/prop set is available now at The Liaison Collaborative, which runs until the end of the month. Oh, btw, for anyone who loves books and reading the theme for this round is ‘Literary-ly Inspired’ so it’s a book lovers dream!

Also at The Liaison Collaborative is something every book lover needs! The ‘Bitterwood Bookshelf and Lamp’ are exclusive to TLC from Raindale and they both add a nice woodsy feel to a cabin or house. The bookshelf is loaded with books and the lamp’s shelf has some too, but the set does include a book free lamp, if you need somewhere to put your tea or coffee. Also from Raindale is the stack of 3 books in front of me, which is from the ‘Larimer Set’ and the ‘stack of books to the right, which is from the ‘Mauner Set’.

The chair, which has a huge stack of books beside it, and the little wagon with books in it are both from the ‘Storyteller’s Burrow’ gacha set from 8f8.

The house plants and the ‘Toasty Space Heater’ are both from {what next}.

The books to the left are the books from the ‘Bric-a-Brac Desk’ gacha set from aisling.

The award above the chair was given to me by a friend and I display it prominently at home to remind me! It’s the ‘Star of Fame/Best Photographer’ award from the ‘Star of Fame’ gacha set from Commoner. Thanks so much, Elle!

The carpet is the rug from the ‘Dark Oak’ gacha set from Bee Designs.

And last but definitely not least, is my cup of tea. It’s from the ‘hard to find vol.2’ set in mint, from keke. This cute set includes a bowl of lemons, with stacked bowls and also a full cup, a turned over cup, cream and sugar, and stacked cups.

And as for my outfit! The ‘Lazy Sweatshirt, Toronto, is from Stories&Co. by Flowey, the ‘Scrunched Sweats’ are from Tres Blah, the ‘SAYAKA’ hair is from Argrace, and ‘The Countess’ glasses are from Earthstones. As always, the ‘Luna’ skin in’miel’ tone is from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa, the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya, and the flat feet from SLink.

Like a Stone

And on I read until the day was gone;
And I sat in regret of all the things I’ve done;
For all that I’ve blessed, and all that I’ve wronged.
In dreams until my death I will wander on.

In your house I long to be;
Room by room, patiently,
I’ll wait for you there like a stone.
I’ll wait for you there alone, alone.

My music tastes change regularly and I’m always on the lookout for artists that move me. A song has to have good lyrics, nothing else, just good lyrics. It’s not about the perfect 4 octave voice, if the song is well written it doesn’t matter to me about the voice singing it. As proven by my love for Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and to an extent Bruce Springsteen. Bruce really belted out some rough sounds back in his early years. But it’s all about the words, what they convey in emotion is what I’m looking for. There’s nothing more moving than a song sung by someone that feels it, regardless of the voice. As of late, my musical choices have been a lot of early 90’s grunge and some of the newer stuff by those artists. I never tire of Eddie Vedder, whether alone or with Pearl Jam. I listened to Soundgarden back in the grunge years, and although I lost track of Chris Cornell since then, his passing has made me appreciate his talent again. I’ve also been enjoying some Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, and Nirvana. So, today it’s grunge, tomorrow it might be classic country or folk. But not current pop music…..never that!

I have a few things to point out to you today, starting with the ‘Bess’ hair from [KoKoLoReS]. The mid length, just-got-out-of-bed look is exactly what any hair lover needs. I’m so not into being perfectly styled and sprayed, so this is the perfect head of hair for me! ‘Bess’ is available at the August round of Hair-O-Logy, which runs until August 30.

The rush of the first few days of the opening of Collabor88 is past, so now you can shop at your leisure all of the guest designers celebrating C88’s 6th Anniversary. Stories&Co. by Flowey is one of the mainstays of the event and the ‘Debbie Bustier’ is this months exclusive. It comes in fifteen colours in vinyl, latex, and metals and is fitted for the Maitreya, SLink, and ‘Freya and Isis’ from Belleza.

I’m wearing one of the nine selections in the ‘Riot Liners’ pack of eye make up from Veechi. It’s a bold eye liner but doesn’t look out of place anywhere. It’s available at the current round of Rewind which runs until September 10. I can’t believe I just wrote ‘September’!

The DWL Classic jeans are from Blueberry.

The ‘Moon Choker, gold’ is from Burial.

As usual, I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa, along with the Lara mesh body from Maitreya.

My eyes are from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ pack from Zombie Suicide.

There has been a few shake ups at Imitation, but I have no doubt that things will even out and there’ll be exciting things to come. Imitation has been releasing expressive and natural bento poses, some with great props, and I’m sure that will continue. This is from the ‘Isaiah’ set of poses, but is not available at this time. From today until August 18 everything in the store is 50% off, so make sure to stop in and get some deals.

I’m hanging out at the gas pump island at Mother Road at the Ludington sim. ‘Mother Road’ is inspired by the original ‘Mother Road’ sim of days gone by, and with my love for the desert, it’s a place I’ve been frequenting of late.

Apricot Explosion

I’ve got my cup of coffee, it’s sprinkling a little bit of rain outside, and the laundry is on the spin cycle, what more does a girl need on a Saturday morning? But that has nothing to do with what I want to talk about today. I want to say a few words about Second Life photography and the use of Photo Shop. I’ve thought about this topic for quite some time and after a very nice conversation with fellow blogger, Hunnie Von Munster I’ve decided to take on this topic in a blog post. I will admit that I don’t use Photo Shop(as anyone can probably tell) and probably never will, for no other reason than my attention span for learning lasts about 45 seconds and I don’t think I could master PS in that time! I’m happy using windlight and a little bit of editing in my now obsolete Picasa program. I enjoy seeing the different effects that can be obtained by windlight alone, and take my time trying different ones, for each picture. Lord knows I can’t remember what one gives what effects, but though it takes time, I do enjoy it. With that said, I also love the effects that Photo Shop can bring to a photograph. I’m totally blown away every day by the incredible creativity shown by so many Second Life photographers. I admire the incredible talent and the work put into the photos, and I favourite all that catch my eye. But, there’s always a but isn’t there! But, my one pet peeve in the world of Second Life photography is when photo contests are held there’s no distinction made between photographs that have post processing done and those that don’t. In my mind it’s comparing apples to oranges. They’re all beautiful in their own way, but they cannot be compared. I’d like to see more separation between the two photography styles and have them both embraced equally as separate entities. I don’t think it’s about one being better than the other, they’re just different ways of being creative, and that’s what it’s all about.

You an check out Hunnie’s work on her blog and flickr.

Okay, now how bout those colours! I do have a passion for the orange shades and maybe I’ve overdone it a bit here, but I couldn’t help myself. To start with, the ‘Annabelle Bodysuit, from Stories&Co. by Flowey comes in some spectacular colours! It’s exclusively for the Lara mesh body and comes in lots of colours, with the set of 5 ‘nude’ tones in a HUD driven, set at a reduced price. The one I’m wearing here is one of the ‘nude’ options! There’s also a transparent top version for each colour. This bodysuit is available now exclusively at ~uber~.

The ‘Ribbon Collar’ from !NFINITY is one of my favourites, it’s resizable, HUD driven with 7 colour options for the ribbon and comes in either gold(seen here), silver, or black metal.

The ‘Meditation Flower, black’ tattoo is from Carol G Tattoo Wear. It’s a group gift for the SLF&O group, so you can drop in at the main store, join that group and grab it. The group is free to join.

As always, I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwwa and the Lara mesh body from Maitreya. I’ve added a touch of eye shadow from the ‘Shoreline Set’ from WarPaint. It’s available at the current round of Appliquè.

My eyes are one of the ten options from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ from Zombie Suicide.

One of my favourite hair is the Anime 05 from Dura Hair.

This pose is from the ‘Wet Sand A’ set of poses from BODYLANGUAGE SLC. The set contains six bento poses perfect for the beach or bedroom.

Behind me is the lovely view I have from my home. I’m on my Mid Century Bed from Dutchie and the Rubber Tree houseplant is from What Next.

Feel the Heat

The sun burns down, making shimmery heat waves rise from the ground, and as I look up into the clear sky that’s more white than blue, I know that the coming night will be one that makes sleeping difficult! Unless, of course, you have air conditioning, of which I do not! Once the temperature is the same outside as in, I open up all the windows and try to catch a breeze to cool it off in here. I hope for a west wind for the evenings and night since that’s the direction my bedroom window faces, having a cool breeze wafting in can make it easier to get some sleep! I’m one of those people that needs to have covers over me while I sleep. Most nights it’s too warm for that….but dammit, I’m too scared of the monsters to sleep without the covers!

The July round of Collabor88 is open to the public, and Stories&Co. by Flowey has released the Reverse Vneck exclusively for it! It’s Maitreya and SLink mesh body compatible and comes with the regular busted version along with Vtech version, which has no bust influence at all, no matter your shape. It comes in fifteen colours, prints and solids, for great summer fashion!

Also new at C88 is the Summer Short Jeans with belt from Zenith. It’s a nice simple pair of shorts to just kick around, trying to stay cool this summer!

I love a little tattoo that brings attention to an area of my body that isn’t normally seen! The ‘Freedom’ tattoo from Carol G Tattoo Wear is 3D and really eye catching! I like a tattoo that makes a statement!

The ‘Skye Hair’ is from +elua+. This is from the blacks pack!

The Hipster Panties are one of my favourite things to sleep in when it’s hot! They’re exclusive for the Lara mesh body from Maitreya.

I’m wearing the Lilo bento mesh head from Catwa with the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada! Along with the Lara mesh body from Mairreya.

The ‘back burner’ pose is from the ‘Loose Ends’ pose set from Le Poppycock.

I’m at home for this shot in front of my Mid Century bed from Dutchie!

I Wish I Could……

There are a few things in life that I really wish I could do! I know everyone has skills and talents that are unique to each person, that’s part of what makes a person who they are, and I do have some! I know I’m a pretty good baker, at least no one gets sick from eating what I bake, haven’t yet anyway! I will admit to being able to grow things! And no I don’t mean hair! Every spring I get the greenhouse going with all the seedlings I start for the coming growing season. I had less plants than usual this year, but there have been a few times that the greenhouse is just exploding with all kinds of greenery! I used to be able to drive a truck with 18 gears, effortlessly, and maneuver the behemoth wherever I needed to! I enjoyed my years driving the big trucks, I still miss it but I miss the actual driving more than the lifestyle that goes with it! I probably have a few more, I think we all have things we do well that we don’t think is a skill, we take it for granted and assume that anybody could do these things, but not everyone can conquer certain things. I wish I could play a musical instrument. I don’t care which one, I’ve tried a few in my younger years and could never get past the stage of people yelling, ‘Oh my Gawd, make it stop!’. I wish I could dance! In Second Life I’m a really good dancer, and I enjoy doing it, but in real life my answer to an invitation to dance is usually the line from ‘Willard’ in ‘Footloose’! “I drink better than I dance!”. That’s not to say I haven’t danced, I have but I think I look a lot like C3PO from Star Wars busting a move! I’ve always wanted to be able to draw and paint. My Mum used to paint in acrylics and do pen and ink drawings, and she was so good! Her prairie landscapes were incredible, but it’s been many years since she’s picked up a paint brush. I don’t have an artistic bone in my body. I’ve tried, but I just don’t have what it takes. I look at very artistic and creative people and they have hands that prove their artistry. The long slender fingers that move with little effort to create their art form. Me? I have stiff hands and fingers that holds a pencil or pen in a death grip and I work hard to sign my name so it doesn’t look like I’m in Grade 2! I’m happy with my abilities and I like to think that I could do anything if I try hard enough, but I do know that doing something and doing it well are two different things!

I’ve always been a big fan of colours from nature like greens, browns, and golds, but I seem to have taken a liking to pinks, lately! Stories&Co. by Flowey has released the ‘Ginny’ Dress and this pink gingham jumped out at me and I couldn’t resist it! This strapless dress is form fitting showing off nice curves and lots of leg! I really like how the bodice is quite high to fully cover ‘my girls’ so I have no worries about slipping out of it while moving around! The ‘Ginny’Dress comes in fifteen colours and is fitted for the Belleza, SLink and Maitreya mesh bodies. It’s available now at the June round of Collabor88!

The June round of HairOlogy is on and the gorgeous ‘Franceska’ hair from Analog Dog is a must have! The gentle curls and generous bangs frame the face beautifully and the high ponytail adds a bit of lightheartedness! It’s 50% off for the duration of the event so it’s a real steal!! This is from the blacks pack.

The ‘Ribbon Choker’ is one of my favourites from !nfinity! This is the gold tone and it’s HUD driven with seven ribbon colours and it’s scripted for resize! I love the infinity symbol!

The ‘Lilla’ glasses in gold are from ‘Air‘! The detailing is incredible and they’re a complete work of art!!

If you look down at my hand you’ll see a little daisy! This is from the ‘Daisy and Fly’ ring set from Meva! It’s a group gift right now and nothing says summer like a daisy! Well, flies do too, but not in the same way! 😀 Like all creations from Mea Carnell of Meva, the ‘devil is in the details’! The rings come in gold and silver, are fitted for the Maitreya bento hands, and can be worn independently!

My eyes are the ‘Steampunk Eyes’,black Omega applier from .Arise..

As always, I’m wearing the Alex mesh head from Logo with the Luna skin in ‘peche’ tone from Sinful Curves Skins(which will be renamed ‘Avada’ shortly). The rest of me is the Lara mesh body from Maitreya.

This pose is from the ‘Daisy’ female pose set from Diesel Works.

I’m at Aloha Beach for this shot! It’s a pretty view from the boardwalk, here!
