Dammit Jim.......I'm a Blogger, Not a.......

………..oh, you’re not saying I’m anything but a blogger, Jim? Good good, because you know I’m not a doctor! Well, the term blogger is a very general term, and what does being a blogger really define someone as? Well, anyone who expresses themselves in some form online is a blogger, in my mind. Whether it’s writing or photographs or anything that you want to show to your readers. It’s all blogging. I can only speak of blogging in terms of Second Life, so my form of blogging is showing off virtual fashion and poses, and sometimes decor or buildings, from some of my favourite designers. It all starts with choosing something to focus on in the photo, usually it’s fashion or a pose, sometimes home decor or buildings. Then there are times that I just want to take a picture that shows a little bit of myself, focusing on lighting and mood. So I put together an outfit and choose a pose, then it’s finding a location to take a picture at. I love finding new sims or new areas of sims I’ve been to, and then to see these places in different lighting is one of the things I’m OCD about. Just one more windlight, always one more, to see if there’s a better one. Needless to say, my picture taking does consume a bit of time with me trying so many! I then work on camera angle, trying to get the best vantage point to make everything look it’s best. At this point I want to add that, like anyone else, not all days go well. Some days the technical part of it isn’t working for me and Second Life is being it’s glitchy self, some days I’m just not feeling it, and this makes every picture different, with some being better than others. It’s just life…..I love it when it all goes easy and I get a good one, but it’s OK if I have to work a bit at it, and redo the shot…again and again and again. Like I did for this one. I had a shot I really liked, but then I noticed something that didn’t sit right with me. And when that happens, I can’t see anything but that…so back to Tralala’s Diner I went , recreated everything like I had it, and took new pics. It’s not the first time it’s happened, won’t be the last…I try to look closely at the image to check for, what I call, flaws. You know….the finger stuck in the hip, the hair through the neck, or the shoes below ground level. Since I don’t use Photoshop, I have to make it as close to flawless as I can in-world, which isn’t always easy. After I’ve got a picture, I then think of what I want to say in the post. Some days I have lots of things to say….and then there’s the days all you get is song lyrics or a poem. But, even though I’m not using my own words to say something, my choice of lyrics or poem are speaking for me. Once I have it all done, then there’s nothing left to do but post it, and it’s links to my various social media accounts, telling all of my faithful, and much appreciated, followers that I have something new for them to peruse!

I’m wearing the ‘Leather Jacket and Dress’ from fame femme and it’s a beaut! I like that word, ‘beaut’! 🙂 Anyway, the jacket comes in 10 colours and the dress is HUD driven with 10 colours to choose from, and it’s fitted for the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

This pose is from Bauhaus Movement and it’s part of the huuuuge ‘Hearts Burst Into Fire’ fatpack available now at The Liaison Collaborative. You can also purchase any of the poses individually.

The ‘Boys & Girls 70’ hair with headband is from DURA Hair.

My skin, although altered with the windlight, is ‘Raine’ in ‘miel’ tone from Avada. I’ve added a bit of shadow from the ‘Satin Shadow Set’ from Buzzeri. And, it all starts with the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

BAD Mangata 2.0 2_001

I always like doing a musical interlude, it lets me get by with little thought to a blog post and it gives me an excuse to get lost in youtube! Once I get going time becomes irrelevant, I just lost 15 minutes while writing this! The song I have for you today is something that maybe not many people have heard of and you’ll have to be a bit of a country music fan to like it. It’s called ‘Hair in My Eyes Like a Highland Steer‘ by Corb Lund and the Hurtin’ Albertans and I think it’s kind of fitting for this picture! Enjoy!

I just love this hair from [BAD HAIR DAY]! This is ‘Mangata’ and it’s super long bangs that cover half of my face is perfect for the mysterious look and the asymmetrical bob is one of my favourite styles. It’s smooth sleek look and how it perfectly frames the face is quite a dramatic look but it can still be versatile and accent lots of different styles of clothes. And remember the massive colour palette that [BAD] is known for, there’s something for everyone! You can’t get your hands on this one yet, though, it’s going to be exclusive to the autumn round of The Seasons Story which starts on October 10, so just a few days to wait. Don’t go forgetting about this before then, eh!! 😀 Drop in to the [BAD] main store to peruse their wonderful styles until then!

I wanted to really show my face and hair so I matched it with the ‘Off Shoulder Tight Top’ from Tetra. I’ve got the fatpack and with all the exclusive colours when buying the fat pack it’s well worth it.

The ‘Royal Autumn Forest Acorn’ necklace from Maxi Gossamer Jewellery is a real looker! I love it’s bold design and rich gold colour. It’s exclusive to the ForMax Event on now until October 10 in support of Maxwell Graf who has come upon some difficult times right now in real life. It comes in short and long versions and also included is both silver and gold acorn rings.

I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo 3.0’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

This pose is from the ‘Shadows Bliss’ set of poses from Bauhaus Movement and available now at The Liaison Collaborative.

I’m at the lovely Hazardous sim for this picture!

You Might Be a Canadian.......

…..if you wear a ‘toque’ in the winter instead of a ‘woolen cap’ or ‘beanie’.

…..if you make a run to the ‘LBS’ for a ‘two-four’.

…..if try your luck at ‘Rrrrrroll up the Rim’ at Tim’s when you get your Double-Double.

…..when a guy wears ‘gitch’ instead of ‘tighty whities’.

…..if your favourite potato chips are ‘Ketchup’.

…..if you ask your friend to, ‘lend me a toonie, eh!’

I have to say that these phrases are used in Canada, but it’s almost like we’re mocking ourselves when we use some of them. Although I do wear a ‘toque’ and like my coffee From Tim’s, but I like it with double cream no sugar. I try to win something when Tim’s has ‘Rrrrroll up the Rim’, which starts late February, but I usually have no luck. I don’t hear anyone say ‘gitch’ very much anymore, but I think that’s mainly because underwear doesn’t seem to be a topic that I talk about with anyone. The word ‘gitch’ can also be interchangeable with ‘ginch’ or ‘gonch’ too, it just depends on what part of the country you live in. Personally, I don’t really like Ketchup chips, they’re a funny red colour and don’t taste very good to me. The word ‘toonie’ is used often, why say ‘two dollars’ when you can say ‘toonie’! I do say ‘eh’ now and then, it’s just natural, but the belief that Canadians say ‘aboot’ instead of ‘about’ is not all encompassing. I live in the west and we say ‘about’, even we notice when people from the eastern provinces say ‘aboot’! Why do I mention Canada? Well, behind me in this photo is the ‘Trailer Park Boys’, as I’m sure anyone who has seen the show knows. If you haven’t seen it, you should watch…..it’s quite funny, and very Canadian! You too can pose with the Trailer Park Boys, just drop in at ‘Mother Road‘ and you’ll see all kinds of great scenes for photography! Paul has done a wonderful job with this sim!

I’m caught up in this book and I don’t care what’s going on around me, I need to find out what happens. While I’m reading, take a look at the beautiful new group gift from Slipper Originals. The ‘Love Rings’ are fitted for the Maitreya bento hands, the gift includes left and right rings, and they’re HUD driven with 6 metals. The Slipper Original group has a one time fee of 49L to join and in return you get a 5% discount on main store purchases and regular group gifts.

This book and pose is from the ‘Book Lovers’ sets of poses and props from Le Poppycock. There’s two sets, both including 6 poses with various props to add in each set. This is pose is called ‘Portable Magic’! Which a book is, of course! These sets are at the current round of The Liaison Collaborative, which runs until the end of the month.

I wanted to add a little extra colour to my manicure so I’m wearing one of the 9 colour options in the ‘Fall Tipped Polish’ from ZoZ Icon. They’re available at the current round of Cosmopolitan, which runs until October 7.

The ‘Mandala Tattoo’ is from .::INKer::.. It comes in two tones and is compatible with the big 3 mesh bodies for women plus Omega and also the SLink and Signature mesh bodies for men.

The ‘Fitted Cardigan’ is from the paper arrow co.. It’s fitted for the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya and available at the September round of ~uber~.

The ‘HOTARU’ hair is from Argrace.

The ‘Lilla, gold’ glasses are a work of art from Air.

My look all begins with the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo 3.0’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya. I’ve added a little bit of eye shadow from the ‘Harvest Shadow’ from Veechi. My eyes are from the ‘Nissa Eyes’ pack from Zombie Suicide.

A Law, Seriously?

Ok……there may be some of you who are reading this that do this, but I’m sorry, there has to be a law against looking at your phone and walking? I’ve always known that common sense isn’t always very common, but man, this one is fairly obvious. I know there’s no laws or by-laws anywhere near where I live but I’ve heard of them appearing in some areas where people have died from walking while distracted. Since I know my own limitations I never do this, mainly because I have a hard enough time walking without incident at the best of times, I don’t need the added risk. And don’t get me started on people who drive while distracted…..that’s one of the things that really grinds my gears! I know that addictions and compulsions are hard to control, but there has to come a time where people start looking out for themselves and stop doing things that endanger themselves and others. I remember when a phone came in a bag and had an antenna sticking out of it, heck I had one of them, so I know people have survived for years and years without needing to check Facebook or email every minute of the day. So if you’re doing this right now, put the phone down, stick it in your purse or pocket, lift your head and look up, you’re missing a whole bunch of really great things in the real world!!

It looks like I’m going to be taking an early evening dip in the water if I keep going on the trajectory I’m on. I really don’t want to end up in the water near a dock. It’s like my worst nightmare, the thought of being in water around a well used dock with who knows what in the water with me! And since this top is new, I don’t want to get it wet, either. The ‘Sara Lee Top’ from LEGAL INSANITY is a new release and available at the current round of Tres Chic. It’s compatible with the SLink, Belleza, and Maitreya mesh bodies and the fatpack includes tons of options to make the statement you want! Life’s too short to not be who you are! Also, from LEGAL INSANITY is the ‘Ella Denim SHorts’, which are one of my favourite shorts from this summer!

This cute hair with the clips is S06, brown from barberyumyum.

The ‘USAGI Trainers’ are from [Vale Koer].

My whole look starts with the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo 3.0’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

The pose is 41 from the huge ‘Digital Alchemy’ fatpack of poses from Bauhaus Movement and available til the end of the month at The Liaison Collaborative. I’ve added the cell phone from the ‘Selfie’ pose set from Imitation, which is a great set of poses in it’s own right!

I have no idea how I made it out on the dock at Mad Pea City.

The Story of My Life

My story isn’t anything special, there’s no explosions or tender love stories. It’s not been like a Nicholas Sparks book, or a Stephen King novel either! It’s not been a fairy tale or anything like a true crime story. But, it’s mine……it’s my work in progress, my unfinished novel that hopefully takes many more years to complete. If each day of my life is a page in my novel, I have a few chapters done and included some footnotes to make it a little easier to follow. Maybe I should include a chronology of events so at least I can keep track, because over time it all kind of ends up in a jumbled mess. Luckily I have a few major events in my life that I can refer to reminiscing, and those chapters I’ll never forget. If my book is going to be made into a TV series those chapters would be the end of season cliffhangers, for sure. Everyone has a story and it’s not up to us to judge a person by what chapter we enter their lives at. I know I’ve had a few chapters that I’m sure most people would want to avoid. But, we all have those, and it’s times like that that the really good friends stick with us, and hopefully continue to! You know what they say about friends, the true friend is someone who knows all about you, but likes you anyway! At this point in my life I look back and know I’ve loved, cared, and shown compassion, I’ve learned and grown as a person, and I came through the bad times stronger. No chapter of my life has been in vain, it’s all happened for a reason. I don’t know what’ll happen in the remainder of my book, but I hope it has a happy ending.

OK……first off….the incredible new pose/prop set from Le Poppycock! This time of year I always look forward to the cooler weather so I can stay indoors and do some reading, and this set has completely put me in the mood for it! The ‘Book Lovers’ A & B’ pose/prop sets are incredibly well thought out. They have unique and interesting poses along with books and cats…who doesn’t want that? The books are texture change depending on what you feel like reading, today it’s a pulp fiction story about a nurse and her patient, hmmmm. *raises eyebrow* But anyway, there’s two books to choose from, both with multiple titles to choose from, and the cats are also colour change. I’ve always loved an orange or calico cat. This pose/prop set is available now at The Liaison Collaborative, which runs until the end of the month. Oh, btw, for anyone who loves books and reading the theme for this round is ‘Literary-ly Inspired’ so it’s a book lovers dream!

Also at The Liaison Collaborative is something every book lover needs! The ‘Bitterwood Bookshelf and Lamp’ are exclusive to TLC from Raindale and they both add a nice woodsy feel to a cabin or house. The bookshelf is loaded with books and the lamp’s shelf has some too, but the set does include a book free lamp, if you need somewhere to put your tea or coffee. Also from Raindale is the stack of 3 books in front of me, which is from the ‘Larimer Set’ and the ‘stack of books to the right, which is from the ‘Mauner Set’.

The chair, which has a huge stack of books beside it, and the little wagon with books in it are both from the ‘Storyteller’s Burrow’ gacha set from 8f8.

The house plants and the ‘Toasty Space Heater’ are both from {what next}.

The books to the left are the books from the ‘Bric-a-Brac Desk’ gacha set from aisling.

The award above the chair was given to me by a friend and I display it prominently at home to remind me! It’s the ‘Star of Fame/Best Photographer’ award from the ‘Star of Fame’ gacha set from Commoner. Thanks so much, Elle!

The carpet is the rug from the ‘Dark Oak’ gacha set from Bee Designs.

And last but definitely not least, is my cup of tea. It’s from the ‘hard to find vol.2’ set in mint, from keke. This cute set includes a bowl of lemons, with stacked bowls and also a full cup, a turned over cup, cream and sugar, and stacked cups.

And as for my outfit! The ‘Lazy Sweatshirt, Toronto, is from Stories&Co. by Flowey, the ‘Scrunched Sweats’ are from Tres Blah, the ‘SAYAKA’ hair is from Argrace, and ‘The Countess’ glasses are from Earthstones. As always, the ‘Luna’ skin in’miel’ tone is from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa, the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya, and the flat feet from SLink.
