Someone Say Road Trip?

Someone Say Road Trip?

Destination? check
Map? check, no GPS for me…I’m old skool!
Music? check check
Munchies? checkaroo
Drinks? yup yup
Sunglasses? uh huh
Purse? oh yea!

Looks like I have all I need, if someone wants to join me, you’re more than welcome, but you have to be prepared to sing along to the music and be OK with random stops to grab lots of coffee, take pics and look around. This isn’t going to be a fast trip, but it’s going to be fun! What’s that? A reliable vehicle? Oh…….nooooo…that’s not necessary, we just go and take our chances, knowing that what happens, happens, and it’s all part of the experience! It’s not at all like it used to be, when breaking down meant time on the side of the road until someone came by who would help. No, with cell phones it takes that element right out of it, a rescue is just a phone call away. By the looks of the truck I’m taking on this road trip I better have a fully charged battery and lots of money for repairs, it could be a long trip!

A road trip in real life does require a comfortable outfit, but it’s not as important in Second Life. But, I’m keeping it casual with just jeans and a shirt, and of course great shoes! The ‘Britta Bootie’ from Ingenue is the perfect footwear for this kind of thing. First and most important is it looks good, second…..the full foot coverage makes traversing adverse terrain easy and safe, third……the lower and chunky heel is easier on the foot when not on cruise control, and I don’t think this truck has cruise control! Oh…and fourth…..did I mention it looks good? It’s fitted for the SLink and Maitreya mid foot and comes in 12 pretty colours, this is ‘toffee’. It’s available now at Collabor88.

The ‘Mindy Tank Top’ is from Just Because. I love tank tops and can’t wait for warm weather to make them a wardrobe staple again.

The ‘DWL’ jeans from Blueberry are the perfect fit and the soft denim is so comfy!

The ‘ARARE’ hair is from Argrace. This is from the blacks pack.

I’m wearing the ‘Cozy Tights’ applier from Izzie’s here, to cover up the bare, and chilly looking ankles.

The look all begins with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

This pose is from the super versatile ‘Live Free’ set of poses from Le Poppycock. They all revolve around going on a road trip and loving your vehicle! πŸ˜€

I’m at Mother Road for this shot.

The cooler is from the ‘Open Road Collection’ gacha set, and the oil bottles are from the ‘Garage Collection’ gacha set, both from Consignment. The gas can beside me is from 7 Emporium. The ‘fresh gasoline’ gas can is from zerkalo.

It’s Just Routine

It's Just Routine

I do things my way, and I don’t mean that in a weird arrogant way, I just mean that I have certain ways of doing things. Everyone does, I put my pants on starting with the right leg and others may do the left first, it’s just human. So, when it comes to bathroom habits, everyone is different, which has always made the sharing of a bathroom a tricky thing. Personally, I think it’s good to have to share, it forces people to get along and have patience and acceptance! I know, I know…..you’re saying, ‘how can anyone endure the trials of sharing the bathroom with someone who constantly leaves ‘his’ wet towels on the floor and the seat up’! Well, I’m not saying it’s easy, but you know, he could say ‘how come you always leave the seat down’ and ‘why is your make up spread all over the vanity all the time’. When sharing a bathroom, you have to allow the other person a little bit of room to live, we all have quirks and habits that could drive a person crazy! Except me, I’m quirk and habit free, it’s just too bad no one lives with me to experience it!

So, I’m standing at the sink here, just doing my before bed routine. I start with tooth brushing then face and hand washing, then hair brushing……and a quick tooth flossing. I don’t look too long in the mirror before bed, I don’t want to bring on nightmares, you know. πŸ˜€ In Second Life it’s getting easier and easier to replicate real life, with all the little things designers create to make our SL as life like as possible. Galland Homes has released the ‘Savannah Bath Vanity and Light Fixture’ exclusive to the January round of the ULTRA Event. The 100% mesh vanity(8LI) features dual copper sinks with working faucets(on touch), PG animations, and a four light copper light fixture(3LI). It’s sleek design can work with lots of different styles and is fully functional to make your virtual bathroom routine just a little bit easier. ULTRA runs until February 10.

As you can see, living alone has made me a little bit lazy when it comes to picking up after myself. I have a ton of stuff strewn around that really should be taken care of. I’ll start with the mirrors, these are from the ‘Southern Elegant Bathroom Set’ from a previous round of Deco(c)rate from [Merak].

I did a bit of shopping at Dutchie Furniture before putting this scene together! I splurged(big time) on the ‘Iron Cast Bain de Bateau’, which is a bath tub in layman’s terms, and it’s got all the bells and whistles any good bath tub should have. Also from Dutchie is the towel on the floor, hanging robe, tissue box, scale, and the wicker laundry basket/towel. They have a nice selection of bathroom clutter, if you’re in the market.

The ‘nail polish clutter’ is from a gacha from Tres Blah, as is the ‘Slumber Party Tank & Shorts’ that I’m wearing to bed.

The dress, bra, and panties all over the floor are from the ‘Z-tease’ gacha set from [zerkalo] and available now at The Epiphany.

The ‘Long Narrow Frames, monochrome’ are from Llorisen.

The ‘Dress Form’ is from a gacha set from Apple Fall.

The ‘Accent Gilt Chair’ is from Nutmeg.

The ‘Farm Living Rug’ is from the ‘Farm Living Gacha aset’ from Apt B.

The rest of my look is the ‘My Hair-Suzy’ from [monso], and the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada. It all starts with the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa, the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya, and the Deluxe set of mesh feet from SLink.

Just One of the Guys

Just One of the Guys

Having worked in male dominated jobs most of my life, I found out early on that it’s pretty darn great being just one of the guys. I mean, if I didn’t have them, who would I talk about work with when I’m the only woman there. So, I was accepted and welcomed by most of them and treated the same as the rest. There was always the older men who would look out for me and help me, even when I didn’t need it, and then there was the ones that resented having a woman in their midst. But overall, I felt a part of the brotherhood! πŸ™‚ There’s nothing like sitting in a bar with a table of 6 or 7 men and seeing them at their best! I don’t know what that’s like when the men are all wearing suits and ties, but when it comes to truck drivers and oil patch workers, I got to the point where nothing shocked me! I learned never to leave my drink at the table when I left to pee, the story of a drink being stirred by something other than a stir stick was always present in my mind, and it wasn’t someones finger that did the stirring!! I could always dish out the jokes, but I also could take them…..because deep down I always knew they’d always stand by my side. I chose the group of guys I surrounded myself with because, although they were rough around the edges, they had kind hearts. I never felt I had to prove myself to them, they knew I could do the jobs they did, and as well as they could. I was just one of the guys, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

When I decided to create a cozy area at home, I realized that there is no cozier place to be than a ‘man cave’. I mean, a ‘she shed’ is probably fine, but there’s something about surrounding myself in games and sports related things, along with the snacks and drinks to go along with it, that’s the ultimate in creature comforts. I’ve always loved watching sports, I don’t dress up in silly things all in the colour of my favourite teams, but I enjoy a good game of hockey or football(CFL of course)! I don’t mind baseball, although it’s a bit slow for me, and I have been known to watch the ‘Master’s Tournament’ in golf. I went through a phase of watching Nascar races every weekend and I used to watch tennis, but I’ve yet to watch a basketball game, I’ll have to do that one day! So, here I sit in the man cave, the popcorn is popping, and the brewski is ice cold, so let the games begin!

I’ll start with my outfit, here. I’m wearing the ‘Boyrfriend Jeans, country’ and ‘Knit Turtleneck, navy’ from fashionably dead and available at ~uber~, right now.

The ‘My Hair, Suzy’ is from [monso].

The ‘Swear Low Top Sneakers’ are from Lapointe & Bastchild, and right now there’s an exclusive texture HUD for them as a group gift.

My looks starts with the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada, on the ‘Lilo’ bento head from Catwa and the ‘Lara’ mesh body from Maitreya.

And as for my man cave? I’m sitting on the ‘Industrial Billiards Table’ from [zerkalo], which is available in PG and Adult at the current round of Kustom9. My pose is the #10 singles animation in the billiards table. Along with the exclusive Billiards table is the ‘Billiards Z’ gacha set! I’m using the ‘Cue Rack(RARE), Billiard Frame, Hanging Lamp, Wall Bar, and the Balls Set, here.

The ‘Standing Ashtray, ‘Dude’s Rug’, ‘Boho Guitar’, and the ‘Grungy Varnished Stool’ are from various gachas from ..::THOR::... The gacha area is near the landing point, which makes it way to easy to play them all! In the main store you’ll find all kinds of good stuff, the grungy and shabby are my favourite! πŸ˜€

My newest home is the ‘Tuscany Loft’ from DaD Design.

The Beat

The Beat

There’s a song for every moment in my life, whatever my mood or what’s happening there’s a beat that’s in time with mt heart. I close my eyes, and feel the music, everything about it, from the lyrics to the tempo, whether it’s a soft song full of melody or the driving base of hard rock. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to create that music, I think I’d write a lot of slow sad songs, full of heartbreak and pain. Some would have hope, because I’m not without hope, and some would be angry, with a touch of sarcasm thrown in. I’ve never been a truly creative person, I’ve always felt like it’s in me, but I’ve never found a way to express it. It’s funny how Second Life has given me the opportunity to express some of my feelings, I’m not a painter or writer, I can’t play an instrument or sing, but I like to express myself through Liz, and maybe share a few of my thoughts, I’m not a wizard at SL photography or a future Pulitzer prize winning writer, but I always put a little bit of my heart into it.

Today it’s all about tattoos! I love virtual tattoos, you can take them off whenever you want and change them all the time. Not like real life where once you get it, it’s there for a lifetime! I’m sure there are many with regrets about the tattoos they have! I don’t regret mine at all, they’re not very big and I can cover them easily. I’ll leave it at that! Metamorphoses has released ‘Corfu’, a gorgeous floral and foliage design that covers the body nicely, and with both black and white included in the pack, it can compliment anything you might be wearing…….even if it’s only your Birthday suit! You can find ‘Corfu’ at the Metamorphoses main store.

And as for the rest of me? Well, I’m wearing the thong from the ‘Cecilia Lingerie, plum’ set from /erratic/. My hair is ‘Indy’ from Mina Hair and is available now at the Women’s Hipster Event. You’re seeing the backside of the ‘Raine’ skin in ‘miel’ tone from Avada and available at the current round of APPLIQUÈ. The sunset is casting a bit of a glow to it, so it’s not a very accurate depiction of it here.

I’m at home here, so you’re seeing a little corner of my life. I enjoy the soft sounds of music from the ‘Big Broadcast Radio, RARE’ from the ‘Vintage Radios’ gacha set from KraftWork. Each radio in the set comes with two versions, one scripted to play music and another for decor purposes only.

The ‘Cat’ is from the ‘Catz’ gacha set from Silas Merlin. You can play this gacha and others for some totally unique artwork, at The Silas Gallery.

The stool with blankets is from the ‘Black Roof Gacha ASet {3}’ from Haikei. And the ‘Himalayan Salt Lamp’ beside it is from the ‘Rainy Days’ gacha set from Ariskea. The ‘Agave’ house plant is from {what next} and the window blind is from a gacha st from Scarlet Creative.

‘The Beat’ neon sign is from the ‘Music is Life’ gacha set from [zerkalo].

The pose is from the ‘Sweet Stuff’ set of poses from Le Poppycock.

New York State of Mind

New York State of Mind

I’ve always wanted to see the Big Apple, but I haven’t, yet. I’ve been to almost every major city in the US of A and although I was seeing everything from the driver’s side of a semi and I enjoyed sight seeing as best I could. I never got to see the nicest parts of these cities, it was usually the warehouse districts and industrial areas, but there was always something interesting to see. I’ve seen the streets of Chicago that no one talks about, where graffiti is everywhere, windows all have bars on them, and the streets are empty. I’ve seen San Francisco in the early morning with the sun rays forcing their way through the fog. Houston has a life of it’s own, teeming with people on a Friday afternoon. The route through Detroit from the Canadian border at the Ambassador Bridge to I 75 is interesting, to say the least! You get the idea, I’ve seen lots of places, never staying in many of them for very long, and no matter the scenery it was always interesting to me. But, in the years I was on the road, I didn’t get to New York City. I did have the opportunity, the company I drove for went there all the time, but the few times I could have had freight going there, I turned it down. NYC was one of two places it was OK to say no to. I went in to inner Chicago, and had no problems, but New York City always intimidated me. I know that if I’d gone I wouldn’t have seen what most people want to see when going there. I wouldn’t have seen Times Square or the George Washington Bridge, Madison Square Garden wouldn’t have been on my travel itinerary, and Coney Island would have been impossible. What strikes fear into the heart of any truck driver is short underpasses, corners that are to sharp for 82 feet of truck, and ending up somewhere you shouldn’t be. Maybe one day I’ll see NYC, who knows, I might get a bad case of wanderlust and take off with nothing but a suitcase and a full wallet! Anything’s possible!

In this photograph I’m a young woman who’s moving into a NY Basement Loft and enjoying an evening cup of coffee looking out on the street she’ll call home. The NY Basement Loft skybox is from KraftWork and is exclusive to the August round of Builder’s Box. It’s 100% original mesh with a footprint of 12 x 23m, and 172 land impact. It’s one room with a little courtyard out front to enjoy the evenings, and a fireplace with candles and a little added artwork to make it homey. The August Builder’s Box can be purchased at the Headquarters.

I’m enjoying the coffee and little sit down thanks to the ‘Landfort Tabouret’, that’s a stool to us English folks, from Raindale! It’s been redone with five pastel colours and ten poses and ten animations, for both men and women, it’s materials enabled, and adds props for your coffee drinking enjoyment, among other things. πŸ™‚ It’s available until August 20 at The Avenue.

The ‘Shabby Easel’ in the corner is a great addition to a NY Basement Loft! It’s from [zerkalo] and available at the August round of The Chapter Four, and the one thing you may not know about this very nice piece of decor is that there’s an ‘adult’ version available, with 10 adult animations! It’s land impact of 5 makes it easy to sneak into a corner of your home. The Chapter Four runs until the end of the month.

The few things that I have unpacked are the Lemon & Roses Travel Trunk, including the guitar, which is from the Travel Trunk gacha set from Chez Moi Furnitures. Someone brought me the beautiful Vouvant Pitcher in Ivory from Calm. as a house warming gift! And it appears my toast is done and waiting for me in the Tea Toaster Radio from the Vintage Radio gacha set from KraftWork.

And as for me? I’m wearing the Summer Tank Top Skirt from Zenith and available at Collabor88. The SAYAKA hair is one of the newest releases from Argrace. And as usual I’m wearing the ‘Luna’ skin in ‘peche’ tone from Avada on the ‘Lilo’ bento mesh head from Catwa and the Lara mesh body from Maitreya.
